  1. Right, not like this forum has been fueling expectations for this song for 20 years now lol. This has literally been going on for almost as long as I have been alive
  2. To have a song such as No More Tears in Guns discography would be amazing, there was something magic about that year, 1991. It's funny to me because Zakk Wyldes solo on that song is the only one from that era that rivals Slashs Estranged solo in my opinion, and they came out on the SAME DAY, and now we are set to get a song like that with Slash on it. I was really freaked out for a second when I realized the similarities right now.
  3. Does anyone else realize we are basically waiting for a song like No More Tears from Ozzy? haha. That song just came on shuffle for me, and I realized..it basically fits ALL the things we know about The General. I seriously don't believe it will be half as great as such an all time classic song but it comes VERY close to what we expect, doesn't it?
  4. You have a point in that, if it's a song you don't like, it being long doesn't really change anything, it just makes something you don't like..longer. I see it that songs like Locomotive benefit greatly from being long, I never get tired of it because it's a whole journey to put it on, if it was like 3:30 in length I would get tired of it way more quickly than I ever did to this day. There's only so many times you can listen to a short song on repeat before it gets tiring. Also we've gotten 3 short songs already, so just for the sake of something different it would be nice, aswell as it leaves room for extended solos which Slash does well, and we haven't gotten something like that so far. Slash put out some great long solos like in Battleground or Lost Inside The Girl just some years ago so it would be great to see him do it in the Guns context.
  5. I don't recall that, if that was true I believe it would have been talked about in the The General thread wouldn't it? I didn't see it posted there once if this was clips from it
  6. Haha best to live a secluded lifestyle the next 40~ days until it drops to minimize the chances of being hit by a bus or otherwise perishing from the world, and having "I died without hearing The General" engraved on your tombstone. I would also recommend sleeping with one eye open incase someone wants to break in and murder you in your sleep until October 27 aswell, you never know out there. I reckon all forum members will be reaching Navy Seal levels of alertness and awareness of surroundings on October 26 By the way I just checked and October 27th is a Friday so it very well might come out digitally the day the vinyl ships, but it could also come out before (or after, of course). If they really want to push the vinyl thing, which they seem to be, I mean you can't even order it on anything else, I don't see it coming out before. I still want to believe my theory from earlier that the song will be released publicly on October 31st, just seems fitting, and the shipping time would mean most people get it by that date for the first time. And also..Axl loves Halloween.
  7. Here is another recording of it from a bit deeper in that thread https://streamable.com/9u5mpk Does that really sound like Atlas to you? I don't get it. To me it sounds like it could be a verse on The General or something (complete speculation lmao) it sounds sinister, not something that would be on Atlas, which has that happy same major key vibe as Catcher. But it really could be anything, we sure aren't any closer to figuring it out now than we were a year before lol
  8. It's not in the same key as Atlas, which means the vocals would have to be totally re-recorded if it was Atlas. It sounds more like Circus Maximus to me
  9. There is still possibly this song left to be released that we didn't recognize that was soundchecked last year. If it got so far as soundcheck it was probably very close to being considered for being released and also must have been finalized in the studio already before this
  10. Yes if it's also a long song..then that fits my argument that he was describing the song instead of refering to its "greatness" even more to be honest. Now that people have pointed out that November Rain was on vinyl at over 8 minutes length, it might even be that long. Not sure why people were saying it can't be over 5 minutes long now in the first place
  11. Please see my post after that one: You're telling me right now that the song he's refering to as "a monster" because of how great it is, also *just so happens to be* a slow grinding heavy dark metal song where the description of "monster" would happen to fit perfectly? Alright lol.
  12. What year did he say that though? That information must be like atleast a decade old now? Just see how Silkworms changed title so anythings possible, I wouldn't draw conclusions right now because of years long, probably even pre-reunion information.
  13. Maybe this is some kind of Paul McCartney type situation on that one Foo Fighters album where they revealed they have Paul McCartney guest on the album..but it's him playing DRUMS lol.
  14. Apart from length, yes you've just repeated my post lol. I didn't mention length because some people out here said it can't be longer than 5 minutes due to vinyl time constraints. Not sure about that, I don't have vinyl.
  15. If you really look at that description, and about which song in particular in this case, it would be a real, and I mean REAL, coincidence, that the song he's refering to as "monster" because of how good it is, happens to be a heavy, dark, slow grinding metal song possibly about child abuse lyrically. To me it's obvious he's calling it monster because of those things. Just too big a coincidence for me to believe that he would be refering to quality with that description.
  16. I think you've misinterpreted his comment thinking "monster" is refering to "greatness", when in reality he's probably (to me: pretty obviously) refering to the song in that way because of what it sounds like. So it doesn't mean it has to be out there everywhere because it's an uber-song like November Rain or whatever. Not in the same way that NR is "a monster" song. Just.. it's a dark song. We will get it digitally eventually anyways.
  17. 4 was a damn failure any way you slice it. It's lead single still has only reached 4 million streams on Spotify over 1 year after release, even compared to a mediocre song like Driving Rain that's laughable. It is why I think Slash decided to do something else and do another solo album next year.
  18. That's what you get for listening to hardcore obsessives who talk up a song they haven't heard. Same thing happened with Atlas Shrugged, anyone who hasn't learned their lesson from that has only themselves to blame. But Is Coma A-Side material? It could never have been released as a single. Too long, too weird structurally, too dark. Yet, it resonates extremely with the hardcore fanbase. So who knows why The General was put as B-side, could be for the exact same reasons. In the end, it is so fucking idiotic to put any expectations on a song you haven't heard. Any song you haven't heard has the exact same chance you will like it or not like it, 50/50, no matter how long it has been "talked about".
  19. Let me pose to you the following question: So what? Does any of this really matter, apart from us writing our little posts on forums like these no one gives a fuck about any of this, people just want a good song and we think we might get one here from knowing what we know. 40 year old Axl, 60 year old Axl, who cares what time of his life he recorded it, when it sounds good, leave it be. Do we really need to go full CSI mode to figure all this shit out, can we take a step back and acknowledge the insane thing we are actually doing here: trying to find out when those sounds we hear were recorded into a microphone? Lmao it sounds stupid as hell when you spell it out like that. It seems like people want to write a doctorate thesis on this shit at times, why can't we just accept that our band will put out a product that they believe in, and that's it? We will get to hear what the band intended for us to hear, if any of what was recorded was disliked it will be redone, and that's the way it should be, or not? I don't know why it's being discussed like it really matters in the end when what was done.
  20. Some say the vocals are different from the leak, some say it's the same take only with effects added. Axl could have recorded them anytime between 2000 and this year, especially the "new" low ones in the chorus. I don't think there is any way to ever know 100% what has been rerecorded and what hasn't. But Slashs solo is definitely new obviously. I don't think it really matters from when the vocals are from, if they are good, use them.
  21. I think it's still the biggest part today, the preodering is the biggest push an album gets sales wise, that's why we have like 4 singles before an album comes out nowadays instead of how it used to be: release one single then work the sales and album for a year or so. Now albums sort of just die out a month after they've come out after the initial push. I'd argue people hearing the song before in this case might actually even lower the preorder sales. The only people that will still order a physical copy of a single like this when both songs are easily 24/7 readily available on streaming or mp3 anytime, are hardcore enthusiasts. Being able to hear the song a few days before anyone else gives that target audience even more incentive to preorder. And GNR fans are starved for new music already anyways they will eat this up. And it's not like the vinyl will be gone from the store after it comes out lol, people can hear it and buy it anytime afterwards anyways.
  22. And for the topic, I would give Eye On You and State Of Grace a way bigger chance to ever come out than Nothing, stuff that had any sort of real lyrics and vocals completed for it is way more likely to have been worked on more.
  23. The only thing that could potentially top the whole Perhaps Jukebox thing would be if we watch them release Eye On You as the next A-side in November and not Atlas Shrugged and that they didn't actually cannibalize that track of the vocals and those hey heys in Hard Skool were a red herring all along. Hahaha
