Chinese Democracy II. 12 songs, bring it full circle with a Slash/Duff redo of the title track. Listening to the demos sequenced, if they all had vocals, it wouldn’t be the worst album (+ assuming Seven exists because I needed a 7th song ) 1. Oklahoma 2. Hard Skool 3. Absurd 4. Perhaps 5. The General 6. Monsters 7. Seven 8. Atlas Shrugged 9. Oh My God 10. Leave Me Alone 11. Quicksong 12. Chinese Democracy (w/Slash, Duff, Brain, Melissa) -

I question if Atlas was even selected as a song for Slash and Duff to rework. -

These recording sessions for the new songs are so bizarre and fragmented that I want to know everything about them. -
I started really getting into GNR from Hard Skool/Absurd (we do exist!) so this thread has been super cool to read. I remember when CD came out the title track played a lot on my local classic rock station, and even stayed in the rotation for at least a year. I loved it so much, so I listened to the rest of the album and hated the rest of the songs besides Better. But I was also in middle school. I've come to really love this album 15 years later, but it did take understanding of Axl as a person and musician to fully be taken by it. I kind of think NuGNR is a little too niche of music to be fully appreciated by the general public, but it is done very well for those of us who love it.

Hard Skool's drums are still a mystery to me. I don't actually think it's a drum machine which I did at one point (besides the intro which I know is) but I think the kick and snare are so compressed and sampled it doesn't really make a difference. But the missing kick drum at 0:16 sure makes me question if it's a real person. I'd love to know if Brain recorded this song, because I would assume they'd use his drums if he did. This is the only song of the 5 Frank(?) is on.
