  1. His solo shows are waaaay more diverse vocally than SMKC shows. I feel like he feels forced to do that high pitched 80s/90s rock singer thing almost all the time with Slash, but his solo shows feature a lot more of his range. He did a baritone version of the blues song Going Down when I saw him live and it was strong as hell.
  2. My playlist looks something like this: 1. Hard Skool 2. Oklahoma 3. Atlas Shrugged 4. Perhaps 5. Thyme 6. The General 7. Monsters 8. Absurd Love Monsters -> Absurd with the slow down effect at the end of Monsters. Based on how they've marketed the singles, they could release something like this and probably not even affect a real marketing campaign for a new album. If they ever did what, say, Billy Joel is doing right now for that. Or what the Stones did last year for HD. Let's get this topic back on track with our fantasies!
  3. Agreed. It’s hard to compare without vocals, but I prefer a lot of instrumental leaks versus CD instrumentals.
  4. What are the chances Don't Damn Me is what Gilby guests on next week?
  5. Is Antiquiet all pre-BBF? I’m trying to nail down what he added to every song.
  6. Tin hat theory: The tour announcement has been postponed so much to re-coordinate it into a ACDC/GNR co-headline tour with necessary backups on-hand at all times. (I don’t really believe this)
  7. I've always been confused about what Frank played on CD. I know he's said the title track is the only song he did "by himself" but he's credited on Better, TWAT, ITW, and IRS as well. TWAT and IRS sound like him to me, Better I remember reading he just did the editing on Brain's parts but maybe there's more than that? Hard Skool sounds like Frank but even his part live is a little more natural sounding than the recording. If it's not Brain, I have to imagine there's a more Freese-inspired version of HS with Brain on drums.
  8. Wow this is a perfect creative team to compliment the likes of TB.
  9. It's a music video, it's gonna drop early afternoon EST/morning PST. As much as I want to hype myself up over this being attached to any sort of larger release, no one would want The General to be the song to campaign that.
  10. I think this is my favorite Slash set since he rejoined GNR. Love the originals he brought back too, like We Will Roam. Don't Damn Me would be huge to bring to GNR when they return.
  11. "Fellas, you're gonna have to cut down The General and Monsters to be 9 minutes combined. That way we're sure they can both fit on the b-side of a 7"!"
  12. IIRC the party leak of Monsters has an instrumental, drumless section after the Black Sabbath-y bridge instead of going right into the chorus.
  13. Maaan it's not like I'm hyperanalyzing these songs 100 times over lol. I mix music and audio for a living. I just hear this shit.
  14. We're all talking about what the video is gonna be like, but the real excitement about a GNR release is what info is going to leak via metadata or some Soundcloud post.
  15. Second half of his 2023 solo spot is pretty close to what I'm imagining the blues album to sound like. A SRV/Double Trouble Texas blues album with uptempo boogies like the video, and some 6/8 blues jams.
  16. Hard Skool might be the least distorted out of the singles, it's just doesn't have any life to it between the thin guitars and overcompressed/possibly programmed drums. The General clips on over half of the kick drum hits in the choruses and outro, but if you can ignore that doesn't get too bad otherwise. The kick drum clipping is really bad though. Perhaps clips out a lot, probably more "traditional" loudness war clipping than any of the other singles. But just feels more finished as a mix so I still prefer it even with that. You can hear it a lot during any tom fills like at 1:51 and 1:59; if you listen with headphones, everything gets saturated for a second when the drum fills happen.
  17. Agreed. Perhaps was mixed by Joe Barresi, but everything else was mixed by Caram and it does the music no favors. I like to think they had Barresi do remixes of the other singles (HS/Absurd/TG) that they haven't released yet. That being said I don't think Perhaps is great by any means, but I 100% agree that it's the only one that sounds like an album mix. The other singles sound like reference mixes that were mastered to brickwalled standards.
  18. The General and Monsters will probably be next to each other sequentially if we ever get a release with all of these songs on it. That's as far as their connection goes.
  19. I'd love to see a live album and b-sides disc all bundled together. Live Era '16 - '23 + Singles, or something to that effect. Not sure either is marketable on their own, but a 3 CD/4 LP box of live and ChiDem leftovers would be the perfect thing to celebrate the NITL era. I think they're gearing up for a new proper album or some degree of lineup changes the next time they're (f'n) back.
  20. BBF is like the original internet guitar troll turned famous touring musician. Great dude in person too, just very emotional online.
  21. Oklahoma + Tonto, Quicksong, the new singles, and a couple new songs written with Izzy in the studio would be an album that could make every fan of this band happy in some form. (imo)
  22. This is also just for the actual distribution. Knowing GNR, I’d bet their contracts are written in a way that requires weeks of confirmations from various parties.
