  1. I remember when it came out. Mostly stuck to Velvet Revolver as a kid but hearing If The World for the first time really opened my mind up to Axl’s versatility and what he was doing those years. Contraband was great, but what Axl did with CD was very DIFFERENT, so that aspect really caught my ear. Flash forward to 2014, I was really happy to hear Axl talk about the imminent remix album and follow up. Almost so much that I was initially bummed out to hear about the “cash grab nostalgia tour”. The 2019 locker leaks and reworked songs sparked my interest again, so I decided to order CD on vinyl. I’ve listened all the way through a few times, but now I tend to just throw on the C side (Scraped, Riad, Sorry, IRS) for a quick listen. Those songs grew on me, it just took 10 years LOL But no, the critics are right. It’s not a GNR record. It’s “Better”
  2. I prefer a SoundCloud membership over anything. Can download for offline PLUS you can upload your own files. Pretty sweet deal
  3. I think so too but who knows. Maybe the part that was put in Hard Skool was just a scratch take for a verse melody. Regardless, I’d love to get a reworked Eye On You. That chorus is catchy. Hopefully the Mac Daddy stuff goes LOL
  4. I thought the pre chorus sounded like pretty modern Axl. The Chorus sounds very clean so I’d guess between 2001 and 2005. Who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️
  5. Haven’t seen Slash so into something in awhile, that’s pretty cool. I wonder what The General even was before the reunion. Maybe they really made it their own
  6. I think he’s self aware and it’s a disclaimer. Honestly, I thought he sounded great. Especially the second half of the song.
  7. ABSURD: 6 ( it’s a great mix, and the first “new” Gnr release. Would be a 7 or 8 if it had the original structure/chorus still) HARD SKOOL: 8 - great song ruined by the oversaturated mix and school bell intro… WTF Axl? WTF Caram? Perhaps: 10 - one of the best rockers Axl has ever written IMO The General: 9 - ironically more “Nu-Guns” than most of CD. Sounds like the original vision for CD which I love. Goosebumps at the chorus. I always thought SOG might be too weird for this lineup to do, but I think it would fit well now Monsters: 10 - probably one of the better CD era songs I’ve ever heard. Slash delivered big time. I must say, I’m happy we have these songs with just one guitarist and one drummer. Overall, the best part of these songs being done by this lineup is that there aren’t 30 fucking people on the same track like some of the 2008 stuff
  8. Probably shouldn’t think too deep into the how muddy it is. Waiting to judge them when it’s REALLY out as apparently there are last minute changes according to their Instagram. Probably good they didn’t release this if what leaked was what was going to be out today
  9. Wonder what year the vocals from Monsters were recorded. Thats an insane performance on the bridge
  10. Holy shit! I can't believe this is real. This is more industrial than anything off of Chinese. I love! Its like GNR meets Linkin Park This is by far the most experimental Axl has gotten vocal wise LuucaS bout' to get the corn
  11. Pretty unfortunate news. If The General isn’t literally one of their greatest songs, they are setting themselves up for failure with this delay. But hey! I’ll still listen to it at least 100 times, even if it is dog shit!
  12. It’s more about Slash then vs Slash now. to be fair, I can understand why reworking CD era songs might be sort of uninspired work
  13. I ASSUME that it will be digital because every mainstream band releases digital these days and it would literally make no sense to not do this. The General being vinyl only wouldn’t increase sales in the vinyl, it would lose them money if anything because the song would instantly be uploaded on YouTube by someone else. BUT this is GNR we are talking about. It wouldn’t be outlandish if they did something… outlandish
  14. They should get Brendan O’Brien for that. Love his work with STP and on Libertad. I also wonder what a new Mike Clink record would sound like w them
  15. I honestly don’t know why they wouldn’t put it on streaming. Its 2023. It amazes me how much that’s been discussed on here. Somebody would just rip it on YouTube if they didn’t anyway.. It would be lost money and attention
  16. I have always thought that if a new album is not going to happen , I’d be pretty into a shorter album that’s for 15 or 20 anniversary for CD A Side: 1. Hard Skool 2. Absurd 3. Perhaps 4. the General B Side: NITL versions of 1. Chinese 2. Better 3. Catcher 4. Sorry
  17. I think he said in an interview recently (this past year) he texts with Duff every once in awhile and also mentioned talking to Fortus as well if I had the chance to meet Tommy, I’d ask him about Village Gorilla Head. That album is amazing IMO
  18. It’s sticking? Has someone else thought of this?? 😂 I highly doubt it but it would be the greatest GNR troll moment
  19. Could you imagine if The General is the actual title for State Of Grace or something off the older village stuff?? has anyone heard enough to confirm it’s its own song?
  20. You can definitely tell they’ve outsourced some pretty good people lately. The company doing social media is killing it and I wouldn’t be surprised if they got a new publicist too. I feel like everyone knows about Perhaps while they hardly even promoted ABSURD and HardSkewl
  21. I think that could be their biggest tour yet if they wanted to keep doing stadiums. Imagine that a co-headliner thing. That would be amazing
  22. I agree for the most part. I think CD also had some moments of WTF. Like all the overplaying at the end of Catcher..
  23. Does anyone else hope they don’t play The General until its out? I honestly really don’t want my first impression of the song to be the subpar live version
