Midnight Rambler
Watched my own private idaho the other night. Classic film.It so very much is! Everything about that film is just breath taking. Amazing stuff, and poor river pheonix, what a talent. Anyone ever see That Thing Called Love? That was the last flick he ever did. I havent seen it since it first came out on video, i cant remember if its any good or not. River plays a country singer so it sounds cool and i remember it being cool.... nameless_girl
Strange Days! Dark City is also terrifically underrated. And to work this into a Buffyian context, was paid significant homage by Joss in Hush.Hush! Thinking about that episode still gives me the creeps. I think I was too young when I first saw it, and the Gentlemen looked far too much like a pair of grumpy, silent neighbours in the adjacent apartment. Other than that, swoonworthy irony throughout, especially at the end. Riley was tolerable, too. What ever happened to Rufus Sewell? Watching him in Dark City is always such a treat; he should have been given more leading roles after that.

oogieboogieman420
Anybody ever seen a movie called Man bites dog? Just wondering..Yes, and on that note, I may just have to rewatch it, because it's one of the darkest, funniest films I've ever seen, and it's been far too long since the first viewing.I ave been all over Mississippi trying to find that movie and NOBODY has even heard it.. The first time I seen it I thought it was just a snuff film.. I still love the dead baby boy's scene, where they're drinking in the pub and the song he's singing before he breaks into the couples house.. "cinema..." god it's been too long since I've seen that movie... I havent even seen it on IFC since I was 17..

Last thing I remember seeing him in was that ghastly Nora Ephronism The Holiday. Man on Wire is pretty wonderful. Max Payne is so shit that it's kind of entertaining in it's shitness, but I suspect that would only work if you were in the right mood. wasted
Zohan is insane.Iron Man. Downey Jr. is the man.I thought Incredible Hulk was enjoyable - better than Ang Lees thing.Righteous Kill, just to laugh at how shit it is, and how old and fat Al and Bob and fill the spank bank full of that chick. just fast forward to her parts.Iron Man v Hulk should be good. Angelica
I'm one of those odd people who actually liked Lee's film. It's flawed, but it actually has ideas that extend past the next FX shot.

It's flawed, but it actually has ideas that extend past the next FX shot.I'm really narrow minded. And not in a good way. I just couldn't buy the whole show at the start of Ang Lee's movie. There was something more gritty about this other one, more like a movie from the 70s. I was checking if I was in the right theatre.

Nixon will always be the best for me though. From a film theory perspective W. is going back into the postmodern playground.Natural Born Killers and U Turn were huge steps for him away from his modernist search for truth. It does make sense to lampoon Bush in a movie and I think it helps Stone not be so heavy handed with his message.Just to get politics into a Hollywood movie is a success. Angelica
Tru Calling was a solid enough show. Not great, but by no means terrible.
Dead Flower
I didn't find the Russell Brand character obnoxious. He was care-free, honest, completely oblivious to criticism and occasionally very charming. He treated the fat kid with respect, even though he was obviously a stalker weirdo. He told Sarah that her movies were shit. He was even nice to Peter and described his musical as "dark gothic Neil Diamond".That was probably the best thing about the movie. There weren't really any bad guys or good guys. I mean Sarah cheated on Peter, but he was an underachieving slob that didn't really work at the relationship, so you could even sympathise with her. She didn't come across as a mean hearted bitch at all.Anyway, I went out and bought Secretary and Idiocracy today. Hopefully I can watch 'em soon.
