Anyone ever seen a movie called Mean Creek? One of the bleaker movies Ive ever seen. One of those that when its over you dont really know what to say. I felt that same way after Requiem For a Dream, Grizzly Man and Irreversible.

I watched this Steve Buscemi movie called Delirious tonight. It was an offbeat dramedy about a narcissistic paparazzi guy who takes a homeless actor under his wing. Not the greatest thing ever by any means but I thought it was pretty solid.

Have you seen Trees Lounge?

Must be Buscemi's best role. Sort of a small town loser alcoholic.

Anyone seen Deception yet?

Anyway, I went out and bought Secretary and Idiocracy today. Hopefully I can watch 'em soon.

Secretary is the sexiest most romantic film ever made, as I feel obliged to point out whenever anyone mentions it.

Grizzly Man is incredibly, devestatingly awesome.

That was probably the best thing about the movie. There weren't really any bad guys or good guys.

Yeah, exactly. Usually in those sort of comedies, the current boyfriend is the "bad guy" and the good guy has to try and reveal his true assholishness to the girlfriend - examples are Harold and Kumar 2, Wedding Crashers, etc. In this movie, though, everybody had their faults and seemed real. Russell Brand's character could have been a rich, self-righteous mean-spirited pompous ass - but he actually comes across fairly realistic and likable, in spite of his faults.

They're making a spin-off about Aldous Snow called "Get Me to the Greek," co-starring Jonah Hill as the guy driving him there. I'm pretty excited for that. The only thing I'm worried about is that it takes place before Sarah Marshall when Aldous is still a drug addict, which means Jonah Hill is playing a different character than the hotel waiter, since he obviously hadn't met Aldous Snow before (and would be a lot younger-looking in a prequel set almost ten years prior). The continuity will be a bit weird.

W was a redeeming movie for Oliver Stone. After many years of not being jazzed with his stuff anymore, I came out satisfied that he has retained some of the craft that made him the bonafide Hollywood outlaw.

I can understand why some people didn't respond to it, and it's bound to tank at the box office. But for somebody as critical as Stone is, I thought he handled the Bush character with grace and fairness.

As far as performances go, Thandie Newton blew me away with her Condi Rice, she was so pitch perfect that I was sure I was looking at the real deal.

Secretary was great.

A love story that is somehow beautiful even though it involves a masochist and a sadist.

Gyllenhaal was fantastic. Her character is so adorably fragile at the start that I just wanted to give her a hug (she probably would have preferred a nice smack on the ass) and I loved watching her confidence and sexuality blossom over the length of the film.

Spader awesome as always.

Their outdoor wedding was hot.

"This wedding is horse shit!"

"Robert better not get in my face... I will drop that mother fucker."

Why is that funny? :rofl-lol:

I laughed out loud many times.

I can't remember many of them.

"Did you use my drums?"

"I'm sweaty because I just watched Cops."

Idiocracy was decent, but not as good as I had hoped.

I expected a more biting and witty portrayal of a society that had suffered the effects of rampant advertising, commercialism and the dumbing-down of media and television. Instead they just went for cheap laughs that weren't overly funny.

The future president was like a combination of Apollo Creed and Reverend Brown from Coming To America. Provided a few laughs, but nothing really new. Most of the other characters were forgettable. I was hoping Upgrayedd (the two D's are for a double-dose of pimpin) would somehow find a way to the future to collect his money.

Anyway, here's the intro to the movie. Try and tell me this isn't happening...
