Tater Totts
I think Sean Penn has a better chance of winning Best Actor. So do I. Gut feeling.Yeah, really hoping Mickey wins, but the politics of the thing and who the voters are may end up hurting him because of his past. Still really hoping he wins though, especially if he gives a speech like he did last night at the Independent Spirit Awards .Great stuff! Oh and I think it's quite obvious why he's not thanking wood anymore, with that comment about how she partially blamed him for those rumours.Mickey is the man! That speech was great
damian 1200
Does anyone enjoy budget horror movies?I think they are the most entertaining films ever, so fucking funny Evil Breed: The Legend Of Samhain Check it out, pure fucking lulz. That movie was actually decent before the distributor got ahold of it. They cut huge chunks out to the point that it doesn't make sense. Like how there was only one mutant guy until the very end, then all of a sudden there's three. There's supposed to be 3 guys through out the film. But again, a distributor hacked it to shit, retitled it, and gave jenna jameson top billing.Anything for a buck, you know? Nice, know where I can get a copy? Also, "Stick to the path"...*really cheesy fucking zoom*..."bad things happen when you stray from the path"You could look for a torrent. It should be called something like "Samhain (work print)" or something along those lines. It was shot with the intent of being rated NC-17, so it's pretty brutal for the most part.Excellent, I'll get straight on that.Cheers broseph! Guest Apollo
Penn also has the fact that he's an extreme-liberal who is playing a gay man on his side . . . that should sway a ton of votes for him.

Johnny Utah
Rourke got fucked at the Oscars and everybody knows it. It's kinda ironic that Rourke's (in his supposed "lost" years) 5 minute cameo in the Penn directed The Pledge was better than anything Penn's done in serious movies his whole career. The academy was as boring and predictable as usual.

American westerns are tame.Clint has got a few Spags under his belt. Made him who he is.I also have Cut Throat Nine coming. Rape, dissection, torture, and the old west. What more could a guy ask for? I've heard really good things, and really bad things about it.Does it hold up to the original?Being Mike, I assume the ear removal scene remains in tact.. Angelica
Watched Music And Lyrics...cute. (And *at* you, not with). As long as we're making embarrassing admissions, I'll confess to having re-watched The Getaway (remake), The Specialist and John Carpenter's Vampires in recent weeks. I fear my long dormant James Woods infatuation has resurfaced. Edited February 23, 2009 by Angelica

Can't say I'm not pleased either, I vastly prefer profane cinematic Woods to watered down network TV Woods.

Dead Flower
Watched A History of Violence last night. It was good, not great. I didn't really get what statement they were trying to make with the film. To me it just seemed like a collection of violent scenes that got increasingly gruesome as the film went on.Maybe they were suggesting that no family is really that picture perfect? The wife secretly craved the rough intense sex that occurred later in the film instead of the gentle snuggly stuff at the start? The teenage kid secretly craved a fist fight with the bully at school instead of just taking his harassment like a bitch.Good acting from the entire cast, though. Loved the scenes with William Hurt. Estranged Reality
Yeah, you got it. It's supposed to be a comment on how Americans have a history of violence, and the husband's violent past opens the door to repressed instincts. The wife basically enjoys being raped.I thought it was an okay flick but I was seriously disappointed after all the hype...I remember making a blind buy when it came out on DVD and wishing I hadn't. Like you said, good performances, but Cronenberg is a very violent director, and I think by exploiting a lot of the graphic violence to the extent he did almost made the film seem kind of hypocritical or pointless. He has a habit of using way too much gore, even in "The Fly" I always thought the extreme graphic violence seemed oddly out of place.

Angelica
Lake Placid. How the hell did people not think this was funny?Agreed, it's delightful. Oliver Platt and Brendan Gleeson are particularly hilarious. And Betty White. Re Cronenberg, the last thing he did that I really responded to was eXistenZ. I do love him though, his best stuff - Dead Ringers, Videodrome etc is brilliant. I'm also fond of the early ultra low budget stuff like Shivers, which is a riot. I was not fond of "A history of violence" and "Eastern Promises". The latter in particular I found to be rather pointless.Recently just watched Burn After Reading, another Coen Bros dud. Aside from Malkovich and Pitt, I felt robbed of 1.5 hrs of my life.
