Is anyone else stuck inside Chinese Democracy

CD is the only album that stays in my 6 CD stacker in my car. The rest come and go, but Chinese Democracy stays in there. I've even taken out Death Magnetic and Endgame(megadeth's new one) out, thats how much i love the album.

Put Endgame back now!

Its a rocking album, but i always switch between other Megadeth albums, i got Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings in the there the moment ;) Death magnetic ain't going back in there thats for sure...

Chinese democracy stays in the stacker though!! Nothing will take that one out. Not even Appetite.

I feel the same way, but for me, that record the last months have been Pornograffiti by Extreme. Haven't listened to CD in a good while.

Recently been listening more to UYI I and II a lot again. Appetite is allways enjoyable ofcourse, so that gets a spinning quite often anyway.

Same here. You can't compare Chinese Democracy to anything. All the songs are as unusual as beautiful, for example There was a time is such a strange song. The lyrics, the progression, then those solos. Or Prostitute, it has so many elements that one might think they can never fit, but they do perfectly. The whole album is a big mix of hundreds of little ideas, layers, changes, and each song is a different world. I can't get tired of it.

I've been listening since the leaks came out and after the album itself was released I'm always listening to something from it at least every day or second day, and listening to other music just doesn't feel the same and I keep coming back to it for the many reasons others say here, the layers, the emotion, the complexity... "This I Love" just came at a time that I needed something like that to understand and make sense.. "Madagascar" gets better every time i listen to it especially as I discover the layers of guitar underneath and backing vocals.. its everything i liked about music all together in the one album

and it could potentially get worse/better or more epic to experince if it becomes a double or triple album as you'd have to expience I before listening to II. Like with Kill Bill 1 & 2, you can try to watch one alone but you always feel like you didn't really experience the whole thing.

Agreed. This album's only going to sound better once we've got the whole thing.

I feel this way about Appetite. I listened to it LOUD for the first time in a few years the other day and found myself getting into it just as much as I did the first time I heared it. What an amazing fucking record and in many ways, I think it deserves MORE praise then it currently gets. There's not ONE bad note on that record, and the guitar work/solo's are epic.

Best pure hard rock record, ever imo.

songs like Madagascar, This I Love and Prostitute have really grown on me. It's hard not see Prostitute as not up there with best of best GNR songs. Lyrically complicated but like Estranged once you know them it has an impact, then with all the drumming and things going on, that crazy guitar riff/solo thing. How is that shouldn't be up there on those top 100 metal songs of all time like One and Stairway to Heaven? But that's just one song, each song is like an album. Go back to If The World and you're in some kind of epic Bond movie with James Brown. and round and round we go. How do you build a raft awesome enough to escape from CD Island?

That raft is called CD2 my friend!

Currently pumping it through the surround sound.

You can't appreciate this album until you listen to it loud and allow all the different levels to come through, so much of it is missed when played through headphones.

Anywho, Riad just kicked in. Pineappledance.gif

I now I'm Buzz Killington right now, but I haven't listened to the album in quite a few months now. I don't know, I'm not dissing it, I love that album, it's really really really good, but right now I'm not focused on it, not by any means. I don't have the urge to listen to it, I think I wouldn't even feel the album if I'd make myself listen to it now, but I'm sure I'll give it a few spins right before I hopefully see GNR in Arnhem this summer! ;)

Another thing is, I don't see that album as a summer album. It really isn't, so maybe it's kinda hard for me to get in the right mood for CD now.

I always picture Chi dem and Shackler's like in some kind of really hot south american jungle. With ITW and TWAT out in Miami or Rio. Catcher is like a snowy NYC tho. Madagascar seems quite tropical.

They must have some palm trees and jungle twine on Madagascar to get some sort of A-Team type raft speedboat to get us out on to the high seas for a pirate adventure.

Riad is over looked, it's pretty epic, those strings before the solo are one of my favorites parts of cd, the solo is something I can't really describe.

It's true it's more of chilling texture experience on stereo, until I got one as was more into CD, Shackler's, Better, Scraped, Riad. But post-stereo I saw the epicness of TWAT/Catcher, how it makes sense they are together. It's the heart of the record, you kind of get lost it. The same way its genius how TIL is dropped inbtween the epicness of Madagasar and Prostitute.

Most of the songs on my Top 25 Most Played playlist in my iPod are ChiDem songs. Seriously, since the tour started back in Dec, I can't put Chinese down. I got hooked..again.

Since the tour I really got SOD and Madagascar for the first time. Seeing SOD live really helped, before that I was distracted by Shackler's, Sorry, Scraped. The lick on SOD is timeless.

Honestly. I lost CD months ago. I can't really be bothered to find it, or buy a new one either. Maybe I need a new forum...

The album I always go back to is King for a Day Fool for a Lifetime...

Didn't Patton reveal his manhood on stage while playing Just A Man recently? I saw KFADFFAL and UYI as opposite reactions to success, one was to be sarcastic about it and parody it and the other was to try to overcome it. ITW world is like an epic remake of Evidence.

It's such a shame it was so overlooked by the US and UK. It sold fine, not a failure by any means but it didnt get the attention that it deserves unfortunately. It is by far the best album I have ever heard, not my favorite, but the best.

I'm also having a Dhinese Democracy period. It's been stuck in my car and in the stereo in the house for a long time. Right now it's like I can't listening to anything else. I always stop it to put on CD. Maybe it's because all the news about GNR in Europe now, I don't know.. But it's a perfect album, I bet that's the reason ;)

I do find it hard to find a part in the whole of CD where I think that doesn't sound right or that lyric is off. There's a millisecond in Shackler's where the disco beat is a bit lame and maybe opening SOD vocals are too vibrato, maybe the Riad intro makes me itch, just seems to early for a moonwalk, you just want the chaos to keep on coming.

Rock/metal isn't as mainstream in the UK. It's pretty hard to find anything harder than Oasis on daytime radio. Metal seems almost underground compared to the US. The fans are still there it's just not represented in the media. Iron Maiden must be huge in UK, but you will never here a Maiden song on the radio ever. It's all RNB and pop.
