ITG
I wouldn't put it past Slash to badmouth Duff or Matt, he badmouthed Izzy and Axl, before backtracking, retracting, etc. He definitely wasn't getting on with Scott. The part which makes me think that, if not entirely bullshit, the story is exaggerated, is the whole "war" thing. That's Axl's thinking, doubt Slash ever viewed it as a "war".When did he badmouth Izzy and the backtrack or retract his statements?
Kapitch_77
When Scott Weiland responded to Axl, why did he say: How dare you call our bass player 'spineless?' When the guys in VR spoke about this subject what did they think? Scott seemed to think it came from Axl and not Slash too. Did Slash say it was false and that it was Axl's words and not his? Did Duff thought the same as Scott and believes it comes from Axl too? That's gossip, It shouldn't matter but anyways...
Kapitch_77
And another thing that makes me think the whole thing is bullshit is this quote from the response:It would have been Axl’s preference to resolve disputes with Slash and Duff in private. The courthouse is not his choice of forum.Yeah right...

Years later, he'd say that Izzy was a great writing partner again (which he was). They're obviously friends now since Izzy played on the Slash album in 2010. AndreCC
it would be cool to hear from Slash directly a little bit more about this episode and the Vegas thing. Somehow i felt he really didn't give much detail in his book.

Amir
I still need to read Duff's book, dad got me a copy a few weeks ago. I flicked through and found a bit more about the London 2010 Axl incident, that was really cool. Went to a reading he did of it at The Garage in London before Christmas. Good stuff, he also played a few GNR songs (Patience was best). Edited September 5, 2013 by Amir

Axl destroyded the band since being late on stage, axl used all the money in GNR(mention above in the VG article, and the interview he gave when he left GNR when the november rain Oklahoma clip is being used, couldt find it right now but u know what i mean. dalsh327
The story of Slash badmouthing the rest of Velvet Revolver to Beta falls apart if you think about the other musicians themselves. Duff is spineless? In the past 17 years I've seen him with Neurotic Boy Outsiders (later Neurotic Outsiders), the reunited Ten Minute Warning, a one-off as part of The Presidents of the United States of America, and Loaded (opening for GNR in Seattle). He's also an author and journalist, and earned his college degree late in life. The guy is a go-getter. He makes opportunities for himself. In person he's very friendly and grounded.I don't buy it.I got the impression Duff didn't really take sides when Axl and Slash fell out, either. Duff was the one that came across as being excited about Axl's "industrial" direction. I think as someone who's been in 15 bands, he's way more open minded about what Axl wanted to do than Izzy, Matt, or Slash were. I guess that makes him an ass kisser, even though most people would call that "being a professional". It wasn't until 04 until he spent time with Slash again, almost a decade later, and all Slash seemed to think about was a new major label deal, who cares if Scott's a trainwreck. Duff saw it as bunch of rehab guys doing music together, but he didn't know what it was like to be around Scott every day.Scott and Mary Weiland's books give their side on VR and how Scott was talked into it.I think Duff and Izzy will write songs with Axl and Slash, and that's as close to getting the old gang back as we'll get. I don't see why Kings of Chaos couldn't get some songs with Kushner helping out as well as GNR. It's just farming out songs and working with people they've worked with for years, it's not a damn reunion, it's just songs that would be great to hear either way. cooker
People say things they may not neccessarily mean deep down when they are upset. I have no doubt Slash probably said some things about Axl behind the scenes that got back to him. But, are we to believe Axl hasn't?

END OF STORYSo? does that clear Axl of all the stuff he's done and caused?Slash said there's only negativity to be expressed when he thinks about GNR because it ended on a bad note. Who caused that bad note? - AxlWho used to have the band pay show's money for curfews because he wasn't on time? - AxlWho fired himself from the entity that was established and formed a new Guns N'Roses entity under his name and changed everyone's paycheck to profit more from that? - AxlSo you don't think that creates negativity? You don't think that would make anyone pissed off?? Think again...it would be cool to hear from Slash directly a little bit more about this episode and the Vegas thing. Crash Diet
It won't workIf Slash popped up when he 's sober...wait, beta still was on charge so no way...I don't think that visit could lead up to a reunion, just 2 former friends normalize their relationship and burried the hatchet...I think in this case Slash (and Perla) fuckep up, like beta fucked up this situation...also badmouthing about your bandmates when they STILL working with you is quite idiotic if you ask me... Not a nice move from Slash
