For me the album is actually getting better with each listen. I'm even starting to very much like one of the only two songs I didn't like in the first place (Want And Able).However, I since it sounds like a mix of everything he's been involved with prior, I can totally see/hear your perspective. I love the melody but the lyrics are just awful for the most part. Want And Able is the opposite for me; I love the lyrics but the melody isn't as good as I wish it were.
