Guns n Roses one of the worst musical comebacks

Recommended Posts

The music itself isn't worth commenting on.

I'm glad that you're not a journalist, because you have zero clue about music journalism if you think that

and yeah, before the usual click jumped on me and calling me an Axl defender or a blind fanboy: i think CD is an OK album, but i'm definitely more of a fan of the old stuff

Does anybody serisously was thought that Axl will be on the top again with his new band?

if you answer with a yes, then YOU are the blind fanboy lol

Hahahaha GTFO. This isn't about music journalism. Common sense would tell you my comment was simply my piss n' vinegar opinion about the album.

Of course he blew it.

2001 Rio 3. 150,000 people are shitting their pants. He plays five new songs and has wacko hyper talented people like Buckethead in his band.

2014 he plays the same boring setlist in a casino in front of 1.000 people with Cashba and a bunch of strippers.

Something has happened in the interim?

The album made zero impact. No one but us can tell you a song off of it.

Some try and church it up about how "complex" it all was, but the simple fact is that people did not care about it.

You can stop the band's history in 1994 and still tell the relevant story.

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/the-best-and-worst-musical-comebacks-from-kate-bush-and-david-bowie-to-blur-and-guns-n-roses-10152880.html

Chinese Democracy was, in 2008, very much a sweet child o Axl Roses very own, with no Slash, and Rose assembling a long list of musicians to replace the band that had recorded Appetite for Destruction et al. It reportedly cost more than $13m, took 15 years to make and, though it made the upper reaches of the charts, it undersold and underwhelmed, except as a token of unbridled egotism

apparently some motherfuckers were listening to Howard Stern (i like the guy btw)

Can any sane person really disagree with this?

15 years to make? No.

15 years between releases? Yes. The rest of the time was filled with malted hops and bong resin and Beta bringing Axl his cereal in bed.

my name online is pockets and pockets wants to be clear on this easter sunday. ok, mygnr?

the media would have cared about 2008 cd release and the actual songs on cd if the gnr that made cd was together for its 2008 release

the gnr that made cd was axl rose, robin finck, buckethead, tommy Stinson, Richard fortus, dizzy reed, chris pittman, and brain

but this gnr that made cd wasn't together in 2008 so the media didn't care about cd in 2008 for release

furthermore, if the writer had listened to the cd - the writer would have said the cd features great ballads like street of dreams, this I love, and prostitute

and if the writer had listened to the cd - writer would say cd has great rock songs like there was a time, better, and if the world

but writer and music media both America/international don't care about these songs because the gnr that made the songs wasn't around when the songs were released in 2008

I hope that clears things up and makes it clear

I like the album, but let's face it, that's pretty much what happened.

It was destined to underwhelm sales-wise given the digital era and trend of downward sales -- but it still failed to even connect with the mainstream... I never heard any of the singles on the radio that I can recall, and it just never really "clicked" with the average listener.

Chinese democracy song was a single. but played only like 1 time on radio because radio was obligated to

sod and better were singles to. but both got no radio airplay in mainstream America

though both are nice to have as singles on cd single discs

Wish someone would bring me cereal in bed. Maybe the prospect of nailing Beta doesn't sound too bad. On second thought, I'll get my own damn cereal. I'm going to need to have the appetite to eat it.

your profile pic makes every thing you say so goddam funny :rofl-lol::rofl-lol:

That's Damn_Smooth real picture. Don't tell him! :book:

"If the World and TWAT are great rock songs"

HAHAHA Fucking hell that made me laugh. Yep they stand up there proudly with the greatest songs of all time.

They are up there with "Bent To Fly" and anything from Libertad.

Rio 01 was a hellacious comeback. It truly stands as one of the most historic and triumphant moments in the history of rock n roll.

Yeah... Looking a fat and out of breath Axl struggling to sing his own songs with a completely different band is nothing but triumphant. Lol. I love that show but come on.

In new gnr terms Vegas/Rio 3 (taken collectively together) were about as interesting and exiting as it has ever been - well, that and the mid 00s leaks. Yes his voice was completely shot but at least you could just about ignore that because of the fact he had not played live for years and the hype of the comeback. As far as I am concerned, it all went downhill after Rio 3.
