Wow!! That is one beautiful guitar. He likes the whammy bar? I don't know why but I've never really thought Izzy was into the whammy. I really want that guitar

Its the Angus Young signiture SG. A favourite of Izzy's.

Tell me about it... I've been drooling over this one for a month but unless I sell a kidney its not happening.

Wow  Those Les paul are things of beauty, hope you can have yours one day!

My fav guitar is pretty simple. A fender tele, like Graham Coxon's one, he is another of my favorite guitarists of all times together with Iz and Frusciante. It's not the prettiest guitar but I've loved it since the first time I listened to it. I had one in my hands a couple of months ago and ah, it was amazing!

Ah now if I was to want a replica guitar of my favourite guitarists it looks like this, not very beautiful admittedly. It does fetch a pretty price though at £3000 min for a custom made.

Yeah, that's what I meant, but I don't see it as a different thing. Every tour a band goes on is a cash grab at the end of the day, so it's really a pointless argument to make. It's hard to actually make money of music these days, all the profit comes from touring. And their ticket prices are about the same as those of other big name bands. On a more personal level, saying that also cheapens the impact of Slash and Axl finally making up after all these wasted years of drama, which is something that was not solely motivated by finances as anyone who's been paying attention to what they've been saying and doing over the last couple of years and in 2016 specifically can see.

I don't think every tour is a cash grab. Yes, band make money touring but at least to me, the tour being a cash grab means the band's motivation to tour is the money they'll make and I'm 100% sure there are many times when bands go on tour because they love playing. I would even say that SMKC is not a money oriented project at all. I'm sure VR + Corey Taylor was way more profitable yet Slash decided to put a band together with unknown people (except for Myles of course). Same goes to Snakepit and especially Blues Ball. My opinion about GNR's tour being a cash grab or not probably varies from day to day but if there's someone who actually made it look like it, that was Axl. His explanation that they reunited because the Coachella guy called was like the worst thing ever, he destroyed the fantasy

And no it doesn't make me feel better, I wish people would stop exaggerating and being ridiculous about all of the guys' solo work :max: Objectively speaking, none of it is terrible and none of it is overwhelmingly great. VR and a lot of Slash's solo work leaves me pretty cold for the most part (though I do like It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere), but I'd never call it a pile of shit with no redeeming qualities, because it's simply not true. And the same goes for all of them. They're all talented musicians (okay, Steven and Duff less so than the other three, but still), and their solo efforts reflect that for the most part.

I can't stand those comments at all either and I couldn't be further from the haters on this so I suffer them all. I love every album Slash has released so far, love most of Izzy's stuff, love Believe in Me and enjoy most of Duff's material (except for the Walking Papers, haven't paid too much attention to it), love the Adler album and love Chinese Democracy (I sometimes have some bitter feelings towards it but they have nothing to do with the music, I've always loved it).

I agree, @Kris_1989 and I think your opinion of Slash is way too high @BorderlineCrazy :P I've noticed the same thing Kris describes after reading through many interviews and catching up on all the drama I missed out on. Slash and Duff have a habit of painting themselves as the nicest guys on the planet and they're always the victims of crazy lead singers, flaky rhythm guitarists, fucked up drummers, and so on, when it suits their purposes. When the opposite course of action suits their purposes better, they'll usually be all sweet and caring.

Reminds me of Axl saying Slash likes to act all nice and friendly in public, but that he can be way less nice behind the scenes. Also Axl whining that he was sick of taking the blame for Steven being kicked out of the band when Slash was the driving force behind that and that he was done "covering for Slash". Scott Weiland has made similar comments about Slash (and the rest of VR).

Now Scott and Axl are (were) not exactly the most mentally stable and reasonable people on the planet, but I do think they're telling the truth. Especially because other people (like Steven) have said similar things about Slash treating them like shit on multiple occasions. As time passes, it seems Axl's and Scott's comments over the years (which were usually dismissed as delusional and bitter) did have some truth to them and by now I'm also convinced that the story about Slash showing up at Axl's house in the middle of the night is true. Especially because Slash tried to lie about it at first, before admitting he did go there. It's highely likely the rest of the details are true as well then ("Scott's a fraud, I hate Matt Sorum," etc.).

As for Steven getting to appear with the band... I wouldn't be so sure that was solely Slash's doing either. And if it was, I'm not convinced it was done for noble or pure reasons. Slash was treating Steven like shit up until very recently, so I think it's more likely Slash just didn't want to be the guy responsible if Steven did something stupid if they didn't include him somehow, or they saw a potential business opportunity in having Steven there (which didn't really work out, but who knows).

My opinion of Slash definitely is way too high but whay can I do? He's fn' Slash!! If God existed, he wouldn't be 5% as cool as he is!  Slash and Duff were victims of crazy lead singers indeed but the lost the right to complain after choosing to be in a band with Scott and then getting back with Axl :P

I don't think Slash tries to play it nice in the media, though, he's always been to people. Of course he might have been different with Axl considering their relationship in the UYI days. I don't recall Slash being to critical of Slash in particular, he said this: Slash and I have always been able to maintain, except on a few occasions, a professional relationship

Also, here's a video of Slash talking about how he would give shit to outsiders  (Izzy's on the video too!)

Slash did go to Axl's house but I don't believe those comments that much. Beta is not exactly someone I'd relly believe in to be honest and some of those things doesn't make that much sense to me. I think Slash loves Duff (in which way we can discuss it in the Women's Thread :P) and he might not like Matt that much but I don't think he would be stupid enough to put a band together with Matt if he hated him considering Matt doesn't really sell too many tickets. Plus, they've done things together after VR too (King Of Chaos and Slash also played on a song Matt did as benefit for the victims of the Haiti earthquake). And about Scott, I can totally imagine Slash being frustrated at hm and saying he was the biggest asshole in the world or whatever but a fraud? I can't imagine Slash being ignorant enough to call Scott Fucking Weiland a fraud! :max: And I actually got to talk to Slash about Scott a couple of years ago and he told me he had no intention of ever working with him again but he didn't dislike Scott, that he was cool.

About Steven, I don't think Slash treated him like shit. He was elusive when Steven wanted to hang out (which was a shitty thing but not the most terrible thing in the world) but when Steven got mad and sad because Slash didn't call him for his solo album, Slash told him that if he saw him doing an effort to get better, he would get to play on the album and he did get to play and with their childhood friend Flea as well as Alice Cooper and Nicole Scherzinger. Slash played on Steven's record too. Again, Slash being the one who got Steven involved in the reunion is just a sensation I have, I can't assure that let alone explain the reasons.

Oh, and that thing Axl said about covering for Slash... I think someone posted a few excerpts of the Steven's mom book (I believe it was in the Women's Thread, or was it here?) and she mentioned (if my memory serves) that Axl told Steven about Slash being the one who wanted to kick him out and how he was sick of covering for him, yet in Steven's interviews (or at least one of them) he sounded like he still feels it was an Axl thing. He might be wrong but he might have his reasons to not believe what Axl told him. "Knowing" how Steven is, I imagine he must have asked Slash face to face next time he was him after the conversation with Axl. Slash could have lied to him and take advantage of their friendship too but.... he's Slash, he wouldn't do that :P

:heart::heart::heart::heart: What I'd give to see a band with these two geniuses. The songwriting would be out of this world and they could even handle all kind of vocals bewteen the two!

You guys are killing me with all the guitar porn in the last few pages. I want all those guitars and more!!

Didn't know @Darkenchantress was that serious about guitar. She may be as good as Izzy and too shy to share it with the world!!

@Archtop @NicDwolfwood Slash loves Rory too, he even did sort of a tribute song for him ^_^

Nobody told you guys? Beta is the new singer. She's the heart and soul of GNR so it was only a matter of time before she replaced Axl anyway. :shrugs:

You can expect her very layered concept album with Melissa sometime in 2018. Soon is the word.

Yes indeed. He's mentioned Rory as an influence. Also, saw a interview of his a while back where he said that the song Avalon was sorta inspired from listening to some Rory.

Hahahaa, noooo, I'm not believe me. I just wish i had more time to practise but i do what I can. My nephew is pretty much the one that enjoys my "talent" by now.

@Archtop that's a great pick indeed, Rory was an awesome guitar player! I'm a sucker for blues and one of the men that started it all, Robert Johnson.

There is also an interview, he travels to Ireland and meets Rory's brother or a band member (it's beeb a long time since I watched it) and is seen with Rory's guitar, talks about him as an influence and a bootleg album he has. I grew up with my Dad playing a lot of Rory, someone I got back into as I got older,so I was intrigued to find out Slash is a fan, going to check out Avalon now.

Hahaha, he is a fan already of both, Izzy and Slash. I got him a toy electric guitar with a mic for Christmas and the first thing he did after getting it off the box was starting to sing Shuffle it all (with a very Stradlin style, I must say, I wish i could show you and Izzy the video but my sis doesn't really want to)  It's so funny cause when I show him Juju's videos he calls Rick "Slash"  must be the hair!
