I only discovered this recently, but it's music is the soundtrack of my youth. There was this barbecue one summer in the early 90s, and this girl I loved was there and it was magical. A warm summer evening, lots of people, music, food and laughter. I have video of that event, and all these songs were playing. Turns out, after a bit of research, they played this album. So this albums represents that evening, and manages to bring back all those feelings. Perhaps my favorite album of all time, and I only just discovered it. Absolutely rocking front to back, with a couple of epic ballads for good measure. if heaven exists, they have this album playing there. 2. another one I just discovered. Awesome rhythm guitar, tasty licks all throughout. I can see why this is beavis's favorite band. 3. it's hard to pick one stones album. they're all good. But this one is my go to stones album. some tasty guitar licks by keith and great tone. I think, keith never sounded better. 4. one of the best lead / rhythm guitar albums I can think of. Great dual play between the rhythm and lead guitar section. "rats in the cellar" alone is worth the price of admission, but all the songs are great. 5. I always come back to this one for it's madness and power. this is the van gogh of rock music. Awesomely disturbing guitar noise. 6. this albums has all sorts of tasty power chords which I love to play all the time. a great collection of songs, and awesome guitar tone. 7. my introduction to metal. this album has perhaps my favorite lyrics. 8. this is my first elvis album, containing mostly 50s hits and the better 60s and 70s material, and some live versions. My introduction to elvis, and I think the best collection of his songs ever made. 60 songs on 2 cds, and everything is there. A great influence on my guitar playing. 9. Here we have Queen at their absolute commercial peak. my favorite queen album by a long shot. A good example of 80's pop/rock, containing some irresistable songs like "pain is so close to pleasure" and "friends will be friends". It's easy to overlook the great use of 80s synthesisers / guitar tone and the cheesy blockbuster movie talk will seem a bit weird at first, but it all contributes to an awesome listening experience. 10. I can't help it, I had to include another stones record. By this point, I think I'm coming to the realisation that keith is my favorite rhythm guitar player. His guitar tone combined with his unusual timing is simply irresistable. I still find it shocking how this album contains so many songs, and they're all good. I have been lied to!! I think that, if you make these lists, they don't make much sense otherwise. 1. appetite for destruction (I'm sorry this is my all time favorite, no point in leaving it out) 2. Mr Bad Guy (freddie mercury): freddie in fine voice and thoroughly enjoyable. the defining freddie album, more than any Queen album. This is what freddie was all about. Partying and emotion. 3. the complete comeback special (elvis presley): probably the best live album ever: basic and raw as fuck 4. exile on main street (rolling stones): infinitely listenable 5. incesticide (nirvana): wonderfully creative and fascinating 6. and justice for all (metallica): my favorite metal album of all time 7. Hoe zo? (clouseau, out of print): belgian pop group at their peak in the late 80s early 90s. A vibrant, energetic pop/rock album that's infinitely enjoyable. These are, to me, the belgian beatles in their early period. So much attitute and authenticity. 8. samson 1 (samson en gert, out of print): this is an album of a children's program I was a fan of in the early 90s, it was basically intended as a cash grab and features a grown up dude with his talking dog, but these songs are brilliant nonetheless. There is this synth / rock fusion going on, and all these songs are really singeable and instantly make you happy. Interestingly, these two (dude with his talking dog) regularily give concerts aimed at grown ups who feeling nostalgic for them. All of them are singing along with the "samson rock". It's a bucketfull of laughs, and frankly, this album is just fucking legendary. 9. appelman (various, long out of print): an album containing silly songs about fruit and vegetables, intended for use during school lessons. It's basically some teachers (with no musical experience whatsoever, who try to sound "cool") who decided to create an album with the help of some kids. There is rap / techno and quirky oddities about going to the fruit market and appleman coming to your rescue. this album is stupidly fun and crazy. There is even a cereal who's ready for some "action" (I'm not making this up). I'm litterally laughing as I type this. It is the volley ball scene isn't it? I can't help it the movie is a homo-erotic flick in disguise, can I? I haven't even seen the damn, think, I swear!

Len Cnut
I dunno how yous come up with these lists. Gimme a top 100 or a top 50 and I could perhaps manage it, top 50...even then its more effort than its worth. Seriously though, what makes one album better than the other? For example, I can name a bunch of ten out of ten albums, Nevermind the Bollocks, A Love Supreme, James Brown Live at the Apollo, My Generation, With the Beatles, Bitches Brew, Disraeli Gears, Only Built for Cuban Linx, Whats Goin' On, Here's Little Richard, Elvises Debut, Highway 61 Revisited, Raw Power, thats more than 10 already, and I'm sure if I put my mind to it I could name 30 or 40 more, what makes one better than the other, how does one quantify these things? Elvises I guess you could argue, musical importance, quality tunes is kinda the spark that started the fire and created youth culture. After that The Sex Pistols is pretty fierce in that regard...I dunno, I just can't do it, I have like scores of others outside of the ones mentioned that are as good as them and I don't know what would put one above another. Awesomely disturbing guitar noise. Cobain was listening to a lot of Pavement at the time and wanted to alienate his fans on In Utero with this weird, lo-fi record, but he didn't quite succeed. Pavement did it much better. I love In Utero, it's my favourite Nirvana record, but if you want ''disturbing'' guitar noise, you should listen to bands like Pavement, At The Drive-In, The Fall Of Troy, etc. Edited August 6, 2020 by EvanG

Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie 6. Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd 7. Voodoo Lounge - Rolling Stones 8. A Bit of What You Fancy - The Quireboys 9. Pornograffitti - Extreme 10. The Slider - T.Rex This is fun but one of the weird exercises where 10 is not enough and it could be completely different tomorrow (except for the top 5 maybe).
