  1. If Perhaps and The General end up being another EP with some live tracks, hopefully they include Down On The Farm and Bad Obsession at least.
  2. I'm gonna throw on my headphones, listen to it while smoking a bowl, then read the inevitably hilarious thread about it on here
  3. There's been tons of great rock bands that have formed since then, but it's kind of ridiculous to hold them to the same level as Zeppelin. Nobody is gonna touch Zeppelin or the Stones or Beatles or very few others in terms of revolutionizing and popularizing rock music and culture... but that doesn't mean great bands haven't come and gone since the fucking 90s Honestly if the cutoff date is 1997 then 'the next big rockstar' was probably Eminem, rock music took a back seat in pop culture decades ago, so there isn't gonna be many bands who become iconic like that. But that doesn't change the fact that I've seen great shows by local bands in shitty venues, and some of my favourite artists 'only' play theatres and clubs. Good rock music isn't too hard to find if you're willing to look for it. I will say though, I can think of several bands who are great live but I rarely listen to their albums because of bland production - Monster Truck, Radkey, etc. I think most modern rock production has sucked for a long time. I'm gonna see Maneskin the night before I see GNR in October, and they seem like another band that's gonna sound way better live.
  4. Prostitute is my favourite song on CD but the reaction when it finally leaked was definitely mixed. We've built up songs before (Sorry is another example) and then people are let down when they finally hear it. The cell phone clip of The General sounds cool but I can't form much of an opinion from it. I don't think SOG has anything to do with The General though, who knows why it wasn't listed in the 2008 email... it could've been replaced by Cuban Skies or something else
  5. I'm definitely curious to hear it but I don't know if it's the holy grail lol. Just keep in mind how hyped up Prostitute was, and then lots of fans hated it. Atlas was a 'big gun' and ended up being mediocre. What we've heard of the General sounds cool, but so does Me & My Elvis, Circus Maximus, Zodiac, etc. I'm just glad they might release something that, for the most part, hasn't already leaked.
  6. I only listened on my phone speaker, but it didn't sound like Axl was there? It sounded like Duff, Melissa and an Axl backing track, and Axl will probably do the 'all alone' parts live... fuck I'm gonna have to re-listen to it with headphones now. And yea, I'm glad the General might finally be a reality, but I really hope it sounds better than the 2021 singles.
  7. More North American shows coming later this summer...
  8. Yea, there's been a pretty clear deterioration since then. Songs like WTTJ and OTGM had classic Axl vocals in 2016. It's been a steep decline since around 2018 though. He still sounds weak on a lot of songs, but for the first time since probably 2017 he sounds good on about half the set. Hopefully they replace some of the weaker songs like TIL and SOD with Perhaps and the slow You're Crazy at some point...
  9. I'd love it if Brain did some guest spots, but are either him or GNR interested in that? He was with them a lot last year and they didn't do anything... I don't know if Brain is even interested in drumming these days? Aside from 2 Praxis show, has he played live since that tour with Bucket in 2017? He said when he was preparing for that tour, he didn't even have a practice kit and he hadn't really been drumming for a while. I'd lose my mind if him and Bucket joined for Shackler's and Sorry though. For the original question: Izzy, but only because Steven probably couldn't do a full tour. He was really inconsistent in the last couple years, sometimes he's great and sometimes he really struggled with the tempos. He seems better again recently but I imagine a whole GNR tour would be rough.
  10. I wouldn't pay much attention to reddit rumours, a year or two ago people on there were saying it was called "Shoulders"...
  11. There's no reason to think the released version of Hardschool is much different from the 2008~ version. They used the old drums and vocals according to Slash, and Absurd is basically the same as the demo with Bumblefoot... I don't think Slash and Duff changed the structure of Axl's songs, they were just pasted into the songs as they existed from 2008-15... I agree Melissa should do the "all alone" parts on Perhaps though.
  12. It's strange that Carrie is opening some shows, but only because she can fill big venues on her own. She's a level above the other openers as far as popularity goes. I wouldn't go see her on her own, but I wouldn't mind seeing her open for GNR. I kinda wish they had multiple openers at each show though. Alice In Chains are opening the show I'm going to, and they're good, but I've seen them a few times already (3 times opening for GNR in Vegas/Seattle). GNR, AIC and Dirty Honey or The Warning would be a great lineup though.
  13. Which biography? He's written a few, hasn't he? I don't think Oklahoma was ever the name for Rhiad, they were always different songs. In the 2008 chats Axl said Oklahoma became Berlin... but he also called Hardschool "Jackie Chan" so who knows what the real titles are...
  14. They kind of already dropped it last year, they only played it once on the South American leg and once on the Australian leg. The slow version should be a staple though...
  15. Duff's released 2 albums if we're including Loaded (The Taking was released in 2011), plus he played on all of Sebastian Bach's album Give Em Hell, 2 Walking Papers albums, that Max Creeps project from last year... and obviously there's albums where he plays on a few songs like Iggy's and Ozzy's albums...
  16. What makes you think that? Tommy talked about teaching him the chords for Rhiad. The solo on Perhaps is Robin...
  17. Tommy confirmed it a couple years ago, even mentioned Brian complaining about the "fucking jazz chords" on Rhiad. I thought it was common knowledge on here at this point, I'm surprised to still see people claiming Brian's on Perhaps...
  18. Brian only played on Catcher, Atlas and Rhiad. The solo on Perhaps is almost definitely Robin.
  19. Robin Finck solo* But yea the solo on Perhaps is great.
  20. It wasn't me who said it earlier, but I agreed with them
  21. Thanks for finally changing the thread title, that was driving me crazy
  22. If they'd replaced TIL and SOD with Perhaps and the slow You're Crazy, this would almost be a perfect setlist. Definitely a pleasant surprise for most of us who didn't give a shit about this tour a couple days ago... Hopefully they drop Perhaps sooner than later though, the way they dragged out the Hardschool release was annoying.
