  1. It’s definitely the finished version lol. A great song, and one of the best ChiDem session ones
  2. I still say Axl’s pitch is a little off on the “oh’s” in the choruses and it sounds like the final guitar note isn’t totally in time for Monsters. I still dig the song, of course Maybe the high quality, final version would help
  3. this year has been okay, overall, activity-wise. It isn’t like in the past, but not bad
  4. Oh duh. Good call. That’s the best Catcher, for sure
  5. Better from Rock Am Ring is amazing Id also nominate LALD from the 2016 shows
  6. Ha- I have that bootleg Ritz LP. Glad he signs boots
  7. I have been listening to 2010 boots and DJ really was not bad tbh. He did a good job on Sorry
  8. Thanks! That is a good one! I feel like it is hard to say a classic Guns song's definitive version is NuGNR since its only Axl, but some performances are just so hard to resist so I include them. I don't know if it is the best You're Crazy, but I will put this up there for reference. Was this Chicago or LA?
  9. Fuck I just relistened. I’ll edit that in there. One of the best, for sure Chicago 92, too Nightrain rocks live
  10. I agree for post 2016. I think 2016 is strong enough to include as contenders for some songs. I much prefer the Slash solos in the two 2016 TiLs I mentioned over Ashba and Axl sounded pretty great on them. Listen to that Chicago one, it is unreal
  11. I liked a handful of his solo songs. Ironically, I love Momentary Lapse and Division Bell but his solo music is hit and miss for me. Faces of Stone and the Tongue song are good with good solos. Either way, the main reason I want to see him is for the Floyd songs Idk if he will perform live, but his wife has been posting many pics of him and his band in the studio over the last few months. Hell yeah! I only saw them once. Lollapalooza 2011. It was awesome! It rained like crazy which added to the experience. It is one of those shows where I feel like I got everything out of that artist so I haven't seen them since! I'd still consider going depending on prices.
  12. I was very apprehensive about Axl joining AC/DC when it got announced. I was upset because I thought it took away from the reunion, might mess with his voice (jury is out on that one, still), and that the move was disrespectful to Brian (that had nothing to do with Axl). It was still exciting, but I was not as enthused as many others on here. Then, it happened. 2016 was fucking magic. The 2016 reunion shows were phenomenal- so I never thought Axl/DC took away from them. If anything, it all just compiled into one big year of Axl and GNR ruling the rock headlines again. The Axl/DC shows themselves were incredible. His reunion voice was great, his AC/DC vocals were some of the best of his career. To have all that at the same time with Axl switching back and forth between bands was really neat. I saw 3 2016 GNR shows and 1 2016 AC/DC show. All were fantastic. Even got to meet Axl and AC/DC after the show I saw! It seems he also inspired Angus to dig out some deep cuts from his back- catalog which was awesome. Loved getting songs like Live Wire at the show I saw. So, in hindsight, I am thrilled it happened. I don't know if it negatively affected his voice since, but it is a trade I will selfishly take. He is getting older, anyways, and with the way he sings I don't know if a vocal decline can be helped or stopped. 2016 was the year he had to nail because of the reunion and AC/DC, and he did just that.
  13. Thanks! I'll relisten to some of these; I love the 2002 Boston show (that is a strong Rocket Queen, too) You know, the final version of CD is my favorite but I think you are right about the early performances being the best live renditions. There's something about them...
  14. I don't know if the interest is here for GNR, but this is a great thread on the Led Zeppelin forum- The Best Live Performances of Each Led Zeppelin Song (Comprehensive Playlist) - Led Zeppelin Live - Led Zeppelin Official Forum Basically, it is a look into determine what are the "best" live versions of each song. I remember years and years ago, some on here did something similar for NuGNR to make Live Era '01- '10, which was pretty cool! Obviously, this is all subjective, but it is a great way to get some live gems out there and known. I admit, I am familiar with most of the main boots and concerts, but I may be missing some killer versions from shows I have not heard, yet- Here are some of my votes (so far), and I would be happy to update with the input of others- Appetite for Destruction- 1. Welcome to the Jungle, -1988 MTV Music Video Awards -2006 Rock Am Ring (that intro scream is one of Axl's best ever screams, imo) 2. It's So Easy -2016 Houston (I've always kind of liked how later- era Axl does scream- rasps in the back half of this song) 3. Nightrain -1987 Pasadena -1992 Las Vegas -2002 Boston -2006 Rock Am Ring -2009 Tokyo -2016 Detroit 4. Out Ta Get Me -1988 Philadelphia 5. Mr. Brownstone 6. Paradise City -1991 Ritz (the part where they go slow fucking RULES!) -1992 Wembley 7. My Michelle 8. Think About You 9. Sweet Child O' Mine -1988 The Ritz 10. You're Crazy 11. Anything Goes 12. Rocket Queen -1988 Ritz -1988 Tokyo (Even though they don't do the slide solo, the Adler solo and Slash jam are awesome) -1992 Las Vegas -1992 Tokyo GN'R Lies- 1. Reckless Life 2. Nice Boys 3. Move to the City -1992 Tokyo 4. Mama Kin 5. Patience -1992 Tokyo 6. Used to Love Her 7. You're Crazy - 2012 House of Blues 8. One in a Million - 1987 CBGB Use Your Illusion I- 1. Back Off Bitch 9. Double Talkin' Jive 10. November Rain -1992 MTV VMAs -1992 Vegas -1993 Argentina 11. The Garden 12. Garden of Eden 13. Don't Damn Me 14. Bad Apples 15. The General -2023 Los Angeles Covers- (I'll get to these later)
  15. It is looking like David Gilmour is recording another record. I would absolutely love to see him in concert, if he toured
  16. New music always takes precedence with GnR, so I voted Perhaps since it’s the stronger of the two official releases imo. Monsters is my favorite, but it wasn’t put out officially. It is also surreal having The General and it was cool being at the show it was debuted at. The setlist was also a huge win. It was very much needed, and I especially loved getting Bad Obsession and Pretty Tied Up. The new songs and other deep cuts were great to have live, too At my first 2023 show I got 6 new songs for me. At the second I got 1. Not bad!
  17. I was underwhelmed when this was announced but since I have since started building a music collection, this peaked my interest for the pair of live shows. Now that I have had this set for a couple of weeks, I can say I am quite happy with it. It is a really good release from the band, and aside from the initial cost (I got it discounted, anyways) and "Dead HorseS" typo, I am giving credit where it is deserved. Having the Ritz 91 and Vegas 92 in their uncut glory is just awesome. Both shows are killer representations of the band at that point in their history. The Rirz 91 BluRay might be my favorite concert footage from GNR, it is a must- watch for any fan. I would put it in the running as one of their best- ever concerts, and would say that may be the band at its peak. I love artwork, books, packaging, etc. so I am very into the alternate scenes from The School of Athens used for the live shows, BluRay, and book. That is a super cool touch. I also appreciate how there is less dumb shit than in the AfD Locked N' Loaded box. I dig the Afd cabinet, but the extra junk was excessive. No rings or metal guitar picks, here. There was care put into the live albums, each of the four 2- LP sets is a gatefold with artwork and pictures from the gig it represents. The book has some great shots and is a good companion to the one that came with the AfD superdeluxe. Although not nearly as big and impressive as the AfD cabinet, the big UYI box is nice looking, and half the initial cost of AfD Locked N' Loaded. In a perfect world, they would have released the BluRay and live albums a-la-carte so you could get them all cheaper on CD and vinyl, but since I got the box at a discount and I didn't have UYI on vinyl, it was all good. UYI I and II both sound really crisp, too. I never got the hate for the production on those records, I think they are some of the best sounding hard rock albums, out there. I said it in the post above, but I wish this had one more album included with demos and unreleased tracks. Some stripped down UYI songs without the overdubs and a rerecorded Aint Going Down with vocals would have really been great. They could have even kept the old vocal track. On the other end of the spectrum, I can't believe the AfD set didn't have a live album/video. At least the Ritz 88 would have been easy to include! Anyways, demos are cool to hear, but good live recordings have more longevity for me as a listener. The fact of the matter is, the UYI boxes are the best live albums the band has yet released. Glad to have them. For that reason, alone, this release is significant. That is probably a testament to how little GNR has put out officially, but it is what it is.
  18. Got my flight! I’m staying 10 days in Frankfurt. Fiancé is going for work so I figure I’ll tag along while she’s at her conference
  19. I’ll be in Germany in March. Probably too soon
