  1. The General is not great, and I have GNR Stockholm syndrome with it
  2. I'm just glad they had a final album and show with Brian =)
  3. It still apparently doesn't mean Slash would play the right solo
  4. Fuck dude, I'm sorry. That is beyond a drag. Can you guys try counseling??
  5. Slash posts AI videos often enough on his IG, so maybe he was on- board with this. Who knows? Absurd was released with a junk animated image video, Hard Skool was released with a half- assed lyric video, Perhaps had a live video, The General has a concept/live video... maybe that means Monsters will have the band acting in it since each release seems to have a bit more At this rate, we should have interviews, full videos, and new albums regularly put out every other year by 2050
  6. I love the "All Nightmare Long" video by Metallica. That is an example of a video with animation that is really cool for the video's concept.
  7. Jokes aside, if this came out years ago and was made by people and not prompts, I'd think it was kinda cool. Busy, but cool. I like animation. I am sad that AI will replace more human animation. I miss cartoons
  8. I wish I could go back in time to 2012 to tell myself we would get The General with Slash on it with a music video. I would leave it at that, though
  9. The General video didn’t make your day? Just kidding, of course
  10. Holy shit that is awesome! First time thats been played, right?
  11. GNR IS cringy and campy and that is part of their charm imo. No one can sit here thinking Axl rapping “It Tastes Good” in biker shorts and shit like that is cool. The fact that they were always a bit inherently silly made them more appealing as opposed to bands like Motley Crue that were campy but took themselves too seriously. The UYI videos are bombastic and goofy, but they fit the band for that era
  12. I was very lukewarm on the UYI anniversary set when it came out, but have since changed my tune. It’s easy to have a “New music or bust” mindset because Axl releases so little, but now that I finally realize there isn’t much left in the vault (and what few songs are out there aren’t really worthy of the hype) and that they aren’t writing anything new, old content is very appealing. The two live albums released with the UYI set are phenomenal, and the Ritz 91 Blu-ray is probably the best released proshot show- official or unofficial. More stuff like that would be great. There are so many easy things they could put out without releasing all- new music. Old concerts, a full 2016 show, etc. They have the means, they put out that Wembley 91 CD recently, too. It’s a drag that Axl doesn’t put out a lot of content, but I take what I can get and don’t get too pissed off about it, anymore. 2016 was what I really wanted out of the band. The new songs are cool to have, and I’ll happily take more, but it’s easy to see why CD2 never came
  13. It’s pretty cool for what it is, but it’s not like a real music video
  14. They should release Monsters on a Halloween and have the band act with campy universal monsters and shit. It would be stupid and a no brainer
  15. Chinese Democracy- Coachella might be my favorite actually for that one
  16. Great thread. I'll rank them from "worst" to best. I still enjoyed every GNR show I have seen, but there have been some big differences in quality- 10. Hollywood Bowl- Los Angeles CA USA 11/2/2023, I am kind of bummed this is ranked last because I was really hyped to see them in Hollywood at such an iconic venue. I'll say, I still had a great time and trip, but the performance was definitely the weakest GNR show I have seen. The setlist also wasn't as fresh for me because I caught a 2023 show in Boston a few months prior. The band was tired coming off of a monster tour, and Axl struggled. The show was definitely cut short with a lot of slots missing- including YCBM! I don't necessarily need all those songs because I have seen them so many times, and they still played 2.5 hours, but that really tells you how tired Axl was. He had a lot of vocal struggles this night and the sound made it tough to mask things when the vocals were weaker, although he did seem to try very hard. The sound fluctuated, but overall, it wasn't great. We were in the back, and it was super quiet. We could have conversations at normal volume throughout the show. That also made the vocal issues more noticeable. Despite all that, I got to travel out to LA and see the band with my aunt and fiancée and overall, the trip was great. Seeing the band with my aunt and fiancée probably did not help with my mood because Axl's vocal woes were very apparent to them, whereas I am more forgiving. My aunt likes the hits, and my fiancée is not a fan but knows all their music through me. Seeing the band with casuals (or non- fans) when the vocals are rough can be a tough sell. Still, it was so cool seeing them in Hollywood and seeing them at the Hollywood Bowl, no less. The venue itself is gorgeous, and the show itself is extremely memorable because they debuted The General. Even if the song has been disappointing, it was really cool to be at the official debut after all the years on here. Thanks for the Stockholm syndrome, Axl. 9. Comerica Park- Detroit MI USA 8/8/2021, This was a good, if uneventful show. The best part of this show was that it was announced before the pandemic, postponed, and then put- on after the nightmare that was 2020. It felt like a victory being at a big stadium show after all the bullshit. I went with a big group of friends- a mix of a diehard and casuals. We all had a great time and got great seats for dirt cheap. It was awesome seeing my favorite band without pressure with my buds. It was an outdoor show on a beautiful summer evening. I liked just drinking beer, hanging out, and watching Guns do their thing. The biggest shock of the 2021 tour was the official debut and release of fucking Silkworms. Still getting that live relatively early after they put it out was fucking insane. Not necessarily in a good way, the song sucks, but I still think it is hilarious and on- brand that was Axl's play for the first original GNR song with Slash and Duff since 1991. We also got You're Crazy which was cool. I also got that in 2012, but it was nice hearing Axl, Slash, and Duff do that one together. Keeping one more deep cut or debuting another new song sooner would have helped. They should have at least kept Dead Horse in the set imo. The rest of the show felt like a much cheaper and stripped down Not in this Lifetime show. Way less jamming and soloing than 2017, less energy than 2016, all with a bare- bones stage show. Axl actually did alright. I don't need a soundboard of this show or tour, but the stadium's sound helped mask vocal problems in- person. The band also slowed down a lot of songs and sounded very tight musically. All- in- all, a good show and a great night. 8. The Palace of Auburn Hills- Auburn Hills MI USA 12/1/2011, My second GNR show. Went with my best friend, who is another diehard (although his interest has waned over the years). We have seen a lot of GNR shows together, including our first. Anyways, after the first time we saw them in 2010, we could not wait to see them again. I felt like I had been waiting for a USA tour forever at this point. Some of you will remember Rock in Rio 2011 on here. That was a wild night, and after the incredible performances of 2010, it was a shock to see such a decline in less than a year. Regardless of that, I went insane that they brought Estranged back into the fold, as it is my favorite GNR song. I actually think this lineup did a great job with that track, and it sounded amazing to me in- person. I also got Don't Cry for the first time which was a big deal, back then. We opted for lower bowl seats instead of the floor this gig, and it worked out well since the stage show was pretty cool. GNR actually had a really good stage for 2010 and 2011, imo. Underrated, actually. It was massive in 2011, and I remember it taking up a good portion of the floor. I have a bootleg from this show (thanks for recording it, @RussTCB) that I listen to parts of every few years. Even looking back, they sounded pretty good. Anyways, Estranged was the highlight and what sticks out about this show. There was a time when I was at the peak of GNR- obsession (it has been many years), I would have told you this was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Years later and dozens and dozens of concerts later, this is not even a top GNR show- but it was still a good one! 7. Little Ceasar's Arena- Detroit MI USA 11/2/2017, It is tough for me putting this one at 7 because this show rocked. NITL had hit its stride, and they were doing all- marathon sets at this point in the tour. Over 3- and- a- half hours of GNR in a single night. Maybe not quite Tokyo 2009 or LA 2017, but this show was up there in length and getting that in an arena was neat. I remember being priced out a bit at the time, so I got nosebleeds ahead of time. At the last minute, I managed to get phenomenal center mezzanine seats for the same price and Ticketmaster actually let me return the old tickets. Sometimes it pays to wait! I got a lot of songs at this show that I have been wanting- My Michelle (this is crazily the only time I have gotten it live), Yesterdays, and Prostitute were the highlights for me when it came to deep cuts. Getting Used to Love Her with Slash was fun, too. I don't know why they don't play that one more considering a lot of casuals like it, even. The band actually sounded really good at this show, and even though the energy and vocals weren't quite at 2016 levels, it was a damn good concert. I didn't even mind all the covers, but I would have definitely subbed some of them for other songs. Aside from the songs, I loved how much inspired guitar playing there was in this show. This show is my all- time- favorite Slash show that I have seen including quite a few Conspirators shows and the Hall of Fame. This show felt like Slash ft. Guns N' Roses. Tons of little intros, solos, jams, and some extended tunes. He did this slower blues solo going into his big solo spot, and it sounded great. It felt like Slash left everything on the table this leg of the tour. It was fucking awesome. 6. Fenway Park- Boston MA USA 8/21/2023, I wasn't even planning on seeing the 2023 tour since they didn't have Detroit on the itinerary, but I wound up seeing it twice! This was definitely the superior show. As I said earlier, the Hollywood Bowl gig was still a good time, but this was genuinely an incredible gig. It is no secret that Axl's vocal abilities aren't what they used to be. Despite that, he put on a killer show. He came out of the gate this tour looking better than he has in years, in a good mood (less bloated, cracking jokes...), and with a good energy on stage. He ran around, addressed the crowd more, and even got some killer screams out for this gig. I can't ask for much more out of him, and I was totally happy with Axl this gig for a 2023 GNR show. The rest of the band was great, and I really dug Richard's solo tones. Especially on Rocket Queen. The big thing that stuck out this year has been the setlist. I was debating if I wanted to put this or the 2017 show I saw ahead and I decided this one for the fact that it included new music. I finally got Hard Skool and Perhaps at this show. Hearing those live was pretty surreal. The dusted- off deep cuts were highlights- loved Pretty Tied Up and Bad Obsession. Reckless Life and Anything Goes were a treat, too. Still would have liked Shadow, but you can't have it all! Apparently, this show was a little short due to a curfew, but I left feeling satisfied. Getting Locomotive or TWAT would have sent it over the edge. Still haven't gotten those, live. Another incredible thing about this show was the atmosphere. Fenway is obviously a legendary ballpark, and I have heard horror stories about the views and sound, but I guess I got lucky. I was in the lower bowl with a great view. The sound was killer from my spot. Also, the crowd was fantastic. It straight up monsoon rained during Slither and Jungle. The band and crowd made the best of it, and it actually ended up making the show extremely memorable. 5. Soldier Field- Chicago IL USA 7/3/2023, If I told you this was the best concert I have been to in my life, it would not be a bad choice. This was an amazing show. After being blown away in Vegas and Detroit, my buddy and I decided to do this show the day before or so. Tickets were not expensive because it was the second of two nights. We drove down in the morning, saw the show, then made the 4- hour journey back to Detroit right after. Would I do that again? No, but I am glad we did it for this show! That first stadium run for Not in This Lifetime was fucking amazing. Axl sounded killer at this gig. We were not quite on the rail, but we were up- close on the floor. The only reason this is not ranked higher is because it was so similar to the Detroit 2016 show. Still, this show might have the best Better, This I Love, and other songs that I ever had. I have a boot of this gig too, and I will tell you, this holds up. 4. The Fillmore- Detroit MI USA 2/21/2012, I was really bummed when they announced the Up Close and Personal Tour, and no Detroit show was on the list. I was in college, so it was difficult to travel. Luckily, they added Detroit later in the game and we got tickets and early entry right away. This was fucking insane. I went with my best friend (he has been to a lot of shows with me) and my ex- girlfriend. We got to meet Bumblefoot before the show. He let us play his guitar, played us songs (he even did TWAT and Catcher), and signed autographs and took pictures. The dude really is an amazing person and player. Then we got into the show and got perfect spots on the "barrier". I say "barrier" because there was practically no rail, we were really hanging over the stage. You can't get more up close and personal than that. The Fillmore is one of my all- time favorite venues. It is a smaller, beautiful theater in Detroit. The show was really something. My first time getting Civil War, You're Crazy, and Used to Love Her. Axl was sick and we were worried he wouldn't show, but he did, and he brought it. He skipped the November Rain outro by mistake which was kind of funny. This is easily one of the greatest concerts I have ever experienced. Caught 2 picks from Richard, one from DJ and Ron, and a drumstick. Still have 'em, of course. 3. T Mobile Arena- Las Vegas NV USA 4/8/2016, I am glad I got to go to such a historical show. The first full- production show with Slash and Duff back. The forums and fanbase were electric leading up to this, and what a ride it was- the Troubadour, learning about his foot, the Vegas meetups, sharing the show with my best friends, it was awesome. We were sitting far away, Axl was in a chair, but they sounded really good. Coma was such a cool thing to bring out back then. I don't think anyone seriously thought they would dig that one out. Even though I have seen better performances closer, the fact that this was the first big show of the reunion with early Slashed- up Chinese songs, Coma and Double Talking Jive, Axl actually sounding good again, and Slash doing his thing in his rightful place make this one of the most memorable shows I have been to just by default. 2. John Labatt Center- London ON Canada 1/25/2010, This is one of the greatest memories of my life. I was 18- years old. Just started college. Going through my first real heartbreak. Peak GNR obsession. After waiting for what seems like forever, they finally announced dates. Nothing in the USA, but London Ontario happened to be only 3- hours away. I didn't have a car, but I didn't care. I bought two tickets without thinking about it. My best friend and I were so fucking hyped. His mom actually ended up getting us a good hotel and drove us up there. We listened to Tokyo 2009 the entire way up. The show itself was a stereotypical GNR show which was awesome. Waiting hours, naked girls, fights, Sebastian Bach opened, then more waiting. Seeing Axl for the first time at that age was a core memory. Being up close, practically on the rail, and seeing the band was mind- blowing. The Chinese songs all felt "new" (at least Sorry, ITW, Shacklers, and some others still did), the setlist was a great blend of old and new, and Axl was just a force to be reckoned with. He truly was incredible in 2010. The memory of this show and what it means to me cannot be overstated, but it also can't be the best GNR show I have seen because we were missing some key members (Slash) which leads to... 1. Ford Field- Detroit MI USA 6/23/2016, This is the pinnacle of rock concerts that I have personally attended. Unless Led Zeppelin does a show (they won't), this will always remain as the greatest gig I will ever attend. This felt like everything a Guns N' Roses concert should be. Still riding the Vegas/Coachella/AxlDC high, we were all excited for the main event- the stadium run. This felt like Guns N' Roses' test to see if they were truly back. Looking back, it is easy to get bored because they are such a stable touring lineup, but it felt pretty miraculous for the time that Axl and the band were able to have a sort of comeback in the public view. I will always love NuGNR and cherish the 3 amazing shows I saw. I spent a lot of great memories on here and following the band before 2016. It was also kind of cool how NuGNR felt more niche. It felt like our thing in a weird way. Still, the reunion came at the right time and somehow, they really pulled it off. Sure, Not in This Lifetime was a nostalgia tour, but who cares? It was an awesome nostalgia tour. I never got to see the original band, so to experience GNR with Axl, Slash, and Duff with the original bullet logo being plastered everywhere, and a massive stage production that felt like a modern- day UYI tour, well, it was fucking awesome for me. I saw 3 shows in 2016, and all 3 were incredible. This was the best of them. I got to meet up with a lot of forum members on here at a great party, miraculously got a front- row center spot on the barrier despite getting there late (I feel like I had the best spot in the entire stadium- you can even clearly see me in their tour book and in some press photos!), and had a ton of friends and family at this show. My sister, dad, (another) aunt, other friends, forumers, all were at this show, but I didn't sit with any of them. I wanted to spend the money on the pit and I am glad I did. Axl's foot was healed, and he was running around the stage constantly. Slash was looser and more comfortable than in Vegas, and they sounded So. Fucking. Good. I would kill for a Blu- Ray or vinyl album of this show. Fucking hell was it cool. And I was right at the front for it all. 2016 was really an amazing time to be a GNR fan. Yeah, the tempos were a bit fast, but they helped lead to some really high- energy shows. Axl sounded great on that entire stadium run. This show will not be topped for me.
  17. TG would be a a poor opener or closer for anything imo. Monsters would be cool as either
  18. Fair enough! I got it as soon as it went up because as far as I know, only 2 NuGNR live albums exist on vinyl, including this one Its crazy, there is only 1 reunion one too
  19. I just picked that one up. Do you know what shows it has? Paradise City seems to be Leeds 2002, but the album also has My Michelle which i don’t think they did that night
  20. Worst case- No new songs Realistic- Monsters and one more with the next NA tour Better case- Monster and another and then 2-4 more leftovers compiled in a release Best case- All new material (yeah right)
  21. I got it at a show and it was pretty cool for me for the novelty (as a long- time forum nerd), but it definitely should not stay in the set imo. Bring on Monsters and play the hell out of that imo
  22. I like The General because of all the bullshit behind it with forum- lore and all that jazz... and the fact that I was at the second Hollywood Bowl show. The big thing is Stockholm syndrome, though. I admit that 100%. I legit think the orchestra, chorus, and bass is all really cool but they do not fit together to make a great cohesive piece. When the song leaked, I could hardly believe it was real. Then some of us convinced ourselves it was meant to be heard with Monsters to help it out (it isn't), then I even got to a stage where I felt like I "got" it. That is all dumb, and my first impression was the most honest. The song as a whole is not a good song, and it is pretty crazy it is actually out. Oh well, who gives a fuck? We have The General after all these years. It is not really a completed song, and I can see why it was shelved (I now doubt there ever was a CD2 ready to go). I think the singles route they are doing is a great way to get these out, even though it is taking too long for them to come out. I would love Monsters and 1-5 more tracks with maybe a website- only or Record Store Day vinyl compilation when they are all out. Overall, I am feeling a good amount of closure with the CD era.
  23. Tonto and Zodiac are the two I want with vocals The most Might as well add going down, too
