Estranged Reality
Here's an article I put together regarding films from 2009 that I enjoyed a lot:http://addictivethoughts.com/2010/01/01/15-of-the-best-movies-from-2009/I haven't been keeping up as much, though. Probably watched fewer movies in 2009 than I have any other year since I was a kid.

You're welcome. Anyone seen Precious yet?Yeah. It's not great or even particularly good, but it's sheer emotional brutality gives it a certain undeniable forcefulness. It's not great or even particularly good, but it's sheer emotional brutality gives it a certain undeniable forcefulness.I saw it last night, and it was certainly nothing to write home about. Good actors, but there's not much that separates it from your average film about ghetto-life in Harlem.

Gods Favourite
I just watched Into The Wild some days ago. I don't know why I haven't seen that before, it was really really good. The music from Eddie is fantastisc. Also, I watched Avatar in 3D last night. I loved the whole scenery. The plot was okay too, nothing really mindblowing though, but good. Also, I re-watched one of my all-time favourites some days ago: Lords of Dogtown. Man, I love that movie!
Lithium
Into the Wild is great - probably my favourite film from 2007, which, in turn, is my favourite film-year of the past decade.
SunnyDRE
Just watched Avatar.Predictable and stupid. I hate these fucking type of movies."white man lands on new planet/country/land to steal its resources. white man becomes fascinated by the natives, that he feel are stupid and below him. white man falls in love with the natives queen and the natives make the white man king/or leader of the tribe."where have i seen this stupid, stereotypical, racists type of movie before. Jackie Moon
i really liked avatar. yeah i know its the same story that has been done countless times but really, this exact same behavour has been repeated countless times in human history, i guess repeating it countless times in film is only keeping things accurate.it seems pretty reasonable there are planets like earth out there, seems reasonable they would be inhabitated by some sort of life. in that aspect the movie was realistic. from there on its all speculation, i liked the movie cause it was sort of a theoretical exploration into that, a 'what if'. i thought it was cool, minus the few cliche moments. yeah it was predictable, but it was stunning. watched the newest xfiles movie, i want to believe. i only have one thing to say.fuck amanda peet is hot. Even if they actually liked the movie, they need to distinguish themselves from the "average fan" by saying that said movie is beneath them. No disrespect but what did you really expect of it? You say you hate "these type of fucking movies" and yet you went to see it anyway. It's obvious the kind of movie that it is and no worse for it in my opinion. It seems some people have watched it purely to slag it off as far as I can see.The story has been done over and over, and all Cameron's movies (excluding the first Terminator) contain a fair amount of cheese, but their strengths always outweigh his tin ear and predilection for Speilbergian sentimentality in places where it's unnecessary. I still think Avatar is a fine film, although, as I did with Titanic, I've had to re-consider my post first screening enthusiasm a bit on reflection.
