Is this Ron's "goodbye"?

Recommended Posts

Hopefully he'll stop wasting his talents and have some artistic integrity for once and quit. If the band you're in doesn't release music, get the fuck out.

This is mere speculation but why if he hasn't quit because of the contract conditions he agreed to?

I would fully support his departure, he's a great guitarist, I'm not too fond of his solo music or particular style but no one can deny the talent and knowledge he has.

Ron is an awesome guitarist and plays the shit out of Estranged in particular. He would seem to be a heart on his sleeve type of guy and this message demonstrates that. He cleary gets pissed off with a few things in the GnR world but is that enough to quit? I doubt it, we all need money and he's most likely on a good wedge when the band is active, bet it pays for a nice house for him and his family. At the end of the day you don't get that good on the guitar unless you love playing it, he's getting paid to do that so I think he'll put up with Cashba and Axl. Plus I do think he has the interest of us GnR fans close to his heart too and he doesn't want to quit and let us down....but mainly he loves those chqs and who can blame the fella.

Yes, because being in a band is all about releasing music, entertaining hundreds of thousands of fans at concerts have absolutely no value!!!

Don't you think they've toured too much by now? Oh forget it, it's SoulMonster.

If it was up to me the band would only tour two years between records, but this is completely irrelevant to my point that it is not up to "SlashisGOD" to decide when Bumblefoot should stop enjoying being in GN'R.

I don't know if Yngwie's tour has been completely booked yet, but it's just from mid June to the beginning of July. It sounds like GNR won't be doing any touring this summer unless they get a call to do a festival. Kind of surprised no private shows or last minute "off the beaten path" club shows happened in South America.

If I was in a band that never played any new material and only did cash grab tours once in a while, at some point I would get fed up and quit. Yeah so he's making good money (maybe) to do all of this, but at some point you have to decide if you'd rather be a nostalgia act or be a relevant band that puts out new music.

Very interesting to hear that you would not be happy going six years between records - thanks for sharing! - but your feelings are very irrelevant for Bumblefoot's decisions; no matter how hard this might be to understand he might actually feel that six years is okay, and/or he might enjoy the touring so much that all-in-all he accepts those six years. Besides, Bumblefoot has demonstrated that he is able to BOTH tour GN'R's back catalogue AND release music in other bands and as a solo artist, so think you miss the mark with many miles. But again, thanks for sharing your own beliefs regarding what you would do if you were him.

Soul, you do realize that this is a music forum and we ALL are sharing our views and opinions on all matters concerning GnR, right? Your opinion that BBF "might actually feel that six years is okay, and he might enjoy the touring so much" is - like you chided this other guy for - just YOUR opinion. He is sharing his opinion, just like you are. What's the difference?

I didn't chide "SlashisGOD" for expressing an opinion, but for assuming Bumblefoot shares "SlashisGOD"'s lack of finding any meaning in being in a band that goes six years between releases. In other words, for projecting one's own feelings/motivations/sentiments onto another human being and then criticizing that person for not acting in accordance with the projection. You get it?

He never said BBF shares the same feelings as him. And stop quoting me.

"If the band you're in doesn't release music, get the fuck out." This displays a failure to understand that people may reap joy from being in a band despite not releasing new music. In other words, he is projecting his own subjective values in regards to being in a band onto another person and expects that other person to act in accordance with these values. It is projection.

BBF is probably unhappy because a new album is still a remote possibility. I'm sure if Axl came out and stated in no uncertain terms that there will be no NuNuNu album, BBF would be a perfectly contented employee. Outlandish theories like his wanting to release music make me laugh. Clear projection.
