Rapidfire Kickstarter and subsequent release this year.

Recommended Posts

Per Kevin via the rapidfire Facebook:

"I have to admit Im terribly disappointed in the Kickstarter campaign. The word is out and only 21 backers? WTF? If all the "Likes" here gave 30 dollars we would make our goal and release this to the world. $30? Thats a round of beers or dinner for two at McDonalds. I've already spent well over 100K in legal fees, mixing, mastering etc not to mention 11 years of my time and hassle.

Just an FYI if this does not fund through Kickstarter I'll probably shelf the whole thing and nobody will ever hear it. I've always said it's up to the fans. Do you want this or not? Nothing worth anything in life is free.

Man Im disappointed. Oh well. We'll see. Either it gets 20K on Kickstarter or it gets scrapped. Your choice. Happy Birthday to me... Kevin."

How retarded does this guy think the GNR community is?

I gotta agree.

It sounds like he's trying to guilt us into donating and then the "threat" of if we don't donate then we won't get the album. Does he really think that will work?

Well, this most likely isn't coming out after that . I guess nothing GNR related is going to come out in the distant future expect for Slash's album.

Whatever, the man is expressive and passionate and unbridled. I've heard the music. If it vanishes, I can't tell you what a shame it will be. THIS IS NOTHING LIKE HOLLYWOOD ROSE. It rocks. Thank God that Kevin has the balls to express himself

The man can say or do what he wants, dont listen

To him or support him if you disagree with his views, it's his business if you want to 'invest' into this with him and I use that term loosely, then do do, otherwise ignore him.

He's a straight shooter, cue porn jokes

Guys, Kevin's porn business is probably shooting blanks now, so he is probably profiting a little from this too but who cares if he is, if you like the product buy it and you will be happy as will Kevin.

Kevin's $ 20,000 is the money shot in this porn movie called kick starter.

Really? I could've swore I read in the other thread I believe that it was coming out this year regardless of whether it was completely funded by kickstarter???..

To Kevin's credit, he does seem to be listening to the comments/criticism. I think this whole shebang could've went

over better had the Kickstarter been set up better from the get-go though. He has added a lower priced CD at $50 and

even a vinyl package.

I think the project is ambitious to the point where it's unrealistic.

This whole thing is centered around a physical product that you can see, touch, own. It's a very noble prospect, but it's 2014. This would have worked much better as a primarily digital release.

$20 000 isn't going to happen. There are much smarter, cheaper ways to get this out a lot faster, but if the attitude is "fuck you guys for liking my page and not donating, i'm done" after two days instead of "what can we change to make this a realistic project", then yeah, it's never going to see the light of day. :shrugs:

It's also 30 years old. It ain't 'new'. And it has only Axl on it.

If it were some old unreleased GN'R songs he'd have no problem getting the money.

it seems he's trying to recoup some of the money he's already sunk into this project than actually fund the release. it's already been recorded (obviously) and, according to him, mixed and mastered. 20,000 to press CDs? how many trillion CDs is he pressing? christ. i know of bands starting from scratch with similar funding goals.

not to mention the perks are absurd. $50 if you want any actual music? that's $10 per song. other bands will give you the whole album for $10, and that's after starting from scratch--not with music that is already completed. almost nobody is going to pay that.

Yep. Please, you don't need anywhere close to $20,000 to put out a CD that's already recorded and mixed. Not these days. This sounds more like "hey, let's recoup the legal fees/have some $$ for the legal battles to come."

MSL should pay this

Btw this latest Kevin statement is a bit too pretentious if you asks me

I understand his POV, but not everyone is rich, not to mention these are just demos from an 80's short life band :shrugs: Don't get me wrong i'm definitely interested about this, but this is a little bit too much for 5 tracks

Why didn't kevin release this in the '90s when people still cared about Axl Rose?

Well I think alot still care, I also think cd's don't sell like they used to. To add to that some feel as though throwing money in an unrealistic goal is silly too. For me I can't support the cause and it makes no difference to me personally if I hear it or not,.

seriously, what did this guy expect? He's asking people for large amounts of money for the opportunity to later pay even more money for a CD? gimme a break! Also, he's asking $50 for the kickstarter version of the CD.... ridiculous. is he oblivious to the fact that iTunes charges $0.99 per song? $5 would be more appropriate for a 5 song demo CD like this.

And all of that asking comes from a garage band.
