Bodyline is just a term used by a bunch of moaning convicts. It is really 'leg theory' and was practiced in English counties since time immemorial I have you know. Jardine,

If there was ever an Englishman to wind up Australians it was Jardine. Detested colonials. Public school background.

Just bouncers aimed at the body. Find the division in the mat in the nets and kick off that.

I batted against Patel in the nets at Worcester. He's a spinner and it was like fast bowler to me. I played county cricket but that was another level.

I am reading KP's book haha. A lot of it was serialised in the papers of course, his hatred of Prior (''the big cheese''), Peter Moores and Andy Flower.

He loves the IPL and cannot resist some swipes at CC which loses me instantly. I have a feeling that if Kevin Pieterson was a generation younger, say in his early-mid 20s now, he would have just been a Twenty20 franchise wander and not a first rate cricketer. It is ironic as he is slagging off some England players who were up for auction and not selected (e.g. Jimmy Anderson) and taking some potshots at CC and the whole English cricket system, the ECB, yet the same thing happened to himself, this season after the book was released haha. He was not bought at auction and where is he now, back at Surrey?

Still he has some good arguments. The ECB, who see the IPL as a crassless money machine, is the same organisation which sold cricket's broadcasting rights exclusively to Sky for wads of cash, thus taking cricket from terrestrial television. And this was after the 2005 Ashes had captured the hearts and minds of a country! There is hypocrisy (and a missed opportunity to proliferate Cricket).

Anyway, back to the book. It is not really an autobiography, just a rant about the whole English cricket set up. He writes a little about meeting his wife, then goes back to ranting again. It is all over the place chronologically.

Well played WI to draw the series. Very enjoyable little series. England bowled out for under 130 in the second innings; I would drop Trott and either include Alex Hales, moving Root up the order, or put in Adam Lyth with Cook and see how that works. I would have probably played two spinners (Rashid?) on that pitch also - Ali had a shocker.

Semi-shit. Better than we were than in 2013/14 but Australia will win this up and coming Ashes. Our specialist batting looks iffy but you have to give a lot of credit to the West Indies who look like a competent set up for the first time in ages with Simmons and Walsh.

Finished Pietersen's book. It is hilarious. Pure soap opera. It rips apart the Moores/Flower era, whether or not any of it is true or not is a matter of opinion. According to Kev, the dressing was dominated by a bowlers' clique led by Prior who called himself ''the Big Cheese''. He had under him numerous ''little cheeses'' which included Broad and Swann who ruthlessly bullied the batsmen - particularly the younger players. Anderson is an introvert and a nice chap but sort of went along with it as one of the bowlers. Flower was a tyrant. Strauss was tight with Flower but at least tried to be independent of action. Cook hates confrontation so when Cook came in, it conceded ground to Prior's clique.

I wouldn't be surprised if KP is telling the truth. He comes across as a bit of twat, but I personally think he was OK. I hate cliques.

LOL at the big cheese though!

Im glad someone is giving credit the Windies though. They aren't a bad side, just need 1 or two batsman really. I hope they do well.

He is in a position to make Strauss and England very embarrassed if the Ashes do not go England's way.

PS

I cannot see Pietersen ever returning now that Strauss is hired. If you read his book, he depicts Strauss as Flower's stooge. They were friends initially but that fell apart; Strauss does not get hammered like Prior - but it turned ugly over text-gate.

You only have to read his book to realise he will never play for England again. There is just no way it will happen - especially now Strauss is back. I mean Broad is still there and he was one of Prior's ''little cheeses'' haha.

PS

Durham victory. Horray the lads. Mark Wood, nightwatchman, making a half century.

Flintoff was talking to Darren Gough on talksport saying how Pieterson wouldn't even make the top ten of disruptive players he's played with. It seems like he's upset the wrong people. A bit of an old boys network in the ECB. Would he improve the team? Yes. If he was told to score runs for Surrey and he would be considered like anyone else then he has been shafted especially when he has given up a lucrative contract to do so.
