DR DOOM
Breakdown is one of those songs I didn't like very much until I got older...the silliness at the end is kind of unfortunate but it's still a pretty awesome song, IMO.Am I missing something? Broskirose
Breakdown is fucking god awful. I hadn't listened to it in forever because it's so shit. That chorus "Breakdown - yeah". Smh. Axl's dumb rant at the end. Just idiotic music.

Broskirose
Not even by your NIN pallet (which I'm guessing doesn't go past 1994) would I place Breakdown above anything NIN has released. And I don't even really like Pretty Hate Machine or Broken.
DR DOOM
Fair enough.I'm familiar with NIN up to the mid 2000's I think, I like Pretty Hate Machine the best.Take away all the added crap(and add other crap in), is Breakdown all that different from Prostitute? Broskirose
Breakdown has a good intro. After that it goes to shit. Prostitute is my second favorite GNR track behind Estranged even though it is also overproduced and could have been better on the album version. I'd kill to hear the 99 version. DR DOOM
I think both songs in (what I imagine) their bare (Axl only) state were/ are quite similar. Edited June 4, 2014 by DR DOOM

sweetness
It really is an awful song, but it starts out strong. I love everything up until the limp dick first verse, and that chorus... oh man, that chorus is one of the worst things I've ever heard
tinyrobot
I like it until the chorus start... then I skip.

Mendez
When a song is overproduced, does that mean there's so much instruments put in that they are individually indistinguishable or something else?

wasted
I think it's great, I prefer it to NR and Estranged. It's a bit more rocky, like a rocked out There was a Time.
Amish
Breakdown is one of the best songs lyrically and musically. The ending means something, also.
Iron MikeyJ
The choruses could have been better I suppose, but the verses are amazing. Some of Axl's best lyrics to date. Honestly all of the Illusions were Axl's best lyrical period. I really like Breakdown.
Modano09
It's better than NIN's best song That's a load of horseshit. The choruses could have been better I suppose, but the verses are amazing. Some of Axl's best lyrics to date. Honestly all of the Illusions were Axl's best lyrical period. I really like Breakdown.Me to. The "chorus" and the ending are silly, but the lyrics are awesome.I think the last 3 minutes might be my favourite Axl lyrics of all time.
