How Early To Get In Line To Be In The Front For A Slash Show These Days?

Hey... tried searching like mad but couldn't find an answer.

How long before doors open do you need to line up to be in the front fro a Slash/myles headliner show at a club that's General Admission?

I saw them at a general admission show a few years ago and my wife and I got to the venue around 5 or something for an 8 oclock show and there were already a decent amount of people in line. just wondering what time you guys that get in the very front get there. We want to be right up front the next time we see them!

Oh god, this question is so difficult to answer. My friend and I like to try to be front row when we go to shows. Who doesn't. And in all the shows we've seen, actual front row railing has only happened a few times. Its surprisingly difficult for Slash, and we've tried a lot. He played the next town over to us, so we thought we had homefield advantage. Got to the venue at noon (yeah!) and they said we couldn't come back till 3. Had lunch, chilled in a library, came back near 3. We were probably 3rd in line. What we didn't expect was a different line (I believe it was VIP) which got let in before us. So even one town over from us, we were still second row.

Generally, our rule is get there at 5 for doors that are usually 7. Get that later and you probably won't be right up front, and get there earlier and its a tad too early (but if you can do it I obviously would say you should try). I don't think my friend and I have ever actually been right up front for a Slash show. We usually get there at 5, and are probably the 10th in line, if not 5th or something. But there are fastpass lines where people pay an extra $10 and get let in before everyone else. Its all politics and luck to get to the front. When Zoso says 5 hours, thats basically how I think of it. You get there 5 hours before the headliner takes the stage more or less and this is how your day will be spent.

I wish you luck. Maybe my friend and I are just missing something, but you'd think for Slash solo of all things it wouldn't be the most difficult thing to get. And yet I can think of countless times we've been second row, third row, but something always happens that we aren't right up front. We were probably 5th in line when we saw him in PA. Like got to the casino he was playing at 3 or 4. Waited online, and then at some point they took us to other doors, where lines meant nothing and people just crowded. So all that early time spent for nothing. Once THOSE doors open, people fucking booked it in, and despite being there since 3, we got second row and not railing. I still vividly remember running across that GA floor to Ted Nugent's Stranglehold as people booked it for the front. Its not impossible, but be prepared for casualties. So my answer would be if doors are at 7, 4:30 or you should still be safe at 5, and make sure to check for fastpass lanes, VIP lanes, if you are moving from the outside door area directly into the venue or into a different space. It sounds silly but his fanbase is getting bigger and I don't think its as easy as some people think to get directly up front.

Thanks for the detailed answer! I agree it's not easy. We got to House of Blues a few years ago somewhere areound 5pm for an 8pm show (was a long time ago, might have been 5:30 or something... but it was pretty early) and we were nowhere near the front of the line.

we got lucky though and got chosen out of the line to go to the VIP area at HOB. It was awesome, it was like this private bar where a band was playing and people sat around in big sofas in a loungy type area.

Anyway, I learned from that experience that yeah, there are usually multiple ways into the shows. We ended up going to a special elevator area at HoB that was for the VIp people... but that wasn't even the best area. There were actually three ways in to that show. There was 1. The VIP area, 2. The area at the top of some stairs where people that ate at the HoB restaurant got to come in from, and then 3. The regular outdoor area into the venue.

It was a mad dash and I think the people that ate at the restaurant would have won but they had to go down stairs. in the end the people outside probably had the best chance and we ended up about 6 or 7 "rows" back. It was awesome but we want to get real close this time. We're peobably going to try and go to the venue around 3 or something. I'll be happy with 2nd or 3rd row but first would be awesome.

I'm surprised someone told you that you couldn't line up too early. That's nuts... I'll be like "uh yeah ok I'll move back two feet but I'm staying here". :)

You know people who like to be at the front at shows, against the railing. What happens if you need a piss?

You just let it flow. If the venue is pretty cold, you'll at least warm your leg up for a few seconds.

Thats why I never go to Festivals, Its not about to take a piss, I have back problems so its better to be a little behind than being in the front where u cant even move

5 hours?

Probably way less than that. My guess is an hour and a half to 2 hours would be plenty.

Yeah, I agree. He said being FIRST in line and that'd definitely guarantee it lol

I did the VIP meet and greet with Slash in 2012 so when the VIPs were let out, there was about an hour till doors opened. There were some normal fans lined up, so I got to be maybe 20th in line. Still managed to be in the "2nd row" just behind people on the barrier on Slash's side

Wow, what an unnecessarily long response, lol.

Slash lines have started earlier and earlier throughout the past 5 years since he started touring. In 2010, I got to venues around 5PM or 5:30PM, and was second/third row no problem.

Fast forward to WoF, 5PM gets you 7th row if you're lucky.

Of course it depends on the venue/town, but I'd say if you want to be safe and guarantee "on the rail," get there at 3PM/3:30PM at the latest.

In my experience of 4 of Slash's last 5 headline shows (NYC, NH, NJ and Baltimore), getting there after Noon will not get you the first spot in line. If you only care about being on the rail and not being on the rail somewhere specific, you could possibly get there as late as like 2ish and maybe get on the rail down by Frankie. Much later than that and no rail for you. If you just want to be close (2-4 rows) you can get there a bit later, but you're not getting in the first 5 rows getting in line at 5.

There's a definite increase in people getting there early. My friends and I could get to a show 1-2pm and be one of the first 5-10 people in line. This time around the only show we got on the rail for (between Myles and Todd) was NJ. The other. 3 we were mostly second or third row (for NYC 2 out of 4 of us got the rail with the others 2nd row and for Baltimore 1 was on the rail and 2 in the 2nd row. NH all 4 of us were either 2nd or 3rd row).

Saw Slash @ HOB too. Same situation. Possibly same show, IDK. Anyway the VIP line got in first. I got 2nd row in the center. Most people flock to the right where Slash stands. Unless you're VIP I doubt you can get 1st row in front of Slash.

Well I wanted to update this thread after going to the show last night... WE GOT FRONT ROW RAIL IN FRONT OF SLASH! :headbang:

There was a fair bit of luck involved though. My wife and I ended up getting to the venue at about 3pm and we were about 25th or so in line. About 30 mins before the doors opened they called for "ealry admission ticket holders" and some of those guys lined up but it looked like most of them were there for the opening act for some reason...

So anyway, time for the doors to open came around and they started letting us in. The first bit of luck came in the form of some people getting hung up at the security wands for whatever reason so we got around some folks while they were held up. Then, once inside the venue we booked it over to the stage (while security yelled at everyone to stop running lol yeah right) and there was a little space right in front of Slash's mic area that we grabbed. It was only big enough for one and a half people so I let my wife on the rail and I stood behind her. The fans at Slash's show are super cool we didn't want to try and squeeze in and mess up anyone else's night.

We were so lucky that space was open by the time we got in. I guess some people would rather be in center stage area but man the place to be is in front of Slash. I got to hear his guitar coming straight from the cabs instead of the house PA. Sounded so awesome! I sometimes wear full range earplugs at shows but this time I didn't because it sounded so good. My ears are still ringing....

Had a KILLER time and ended up walking away with the setlist that was in front of Slash and 4 picks (one from Slash, two from Todd, and one from Frank). Myles came down into the valley in front of the stage after the show and shook hands with everyone.

So to answer my own question - You have to get there REALLY REALLY early... but if you don't get there early enough you might get lucky still and even if you don't get rail you'll still be pretty close and have a great time!

The opening act was semi-retired WWE wrestler Chris Jericho's band, Fozzy, right? He's pretty much been plugging the shows Fozzy was opening with Slash on Twitter for the last few weeks and they got a decent following, so I wouldn't be surprised a few people were there just to see them even if it's a short 30 min. opening set and stick around for Slash/Myles/Conspirators since well, they are the headlining act and they have a great reputation as a live band.

Anywho, great to hear that you got the good luck to be in front row in front of Slash.
