He most definitely had the right looks going for him, but there may have been other things that kept him from having girlfriends. It's been said before, especially about that time period, that he was very shy and quite introverted. So, my guess is if he wasn't getting any action in high school, it's more so his personality that got in the way of that. Axl in high school was a tiny ginger kid with a bowl cut and weird clothes. Like this: The picture says this was in 1980, so Axl would have been around 18 there? But he still had the bowl cut. And he's also wearing the same flowery shirt that's he wearing in this picture. So either he wore that shirt for a really long time or the picture below wasn't taken too long before the picture above. Maybe 1 or 2 years earlier at a guess? So that would make Axl 16 or so here. Or maybe a bit younger? Anyway, he looks roghly the same as he does in this picture, which is also a high school yearbook picture. From an adult perspective (and knowing everything I know about him) I think he was a cute kid, but I know that if I'd gone to school with him myself, I definitely wouldn't have thought he was hot lol. In addition to that he was quite shy and awkward (according to himself), like @Kara said, but at the same time he was also acting out, being crazy and getting into trouble all the time (according to Izzy and other people who knew him back then). And like @MillionsOfSpiders mentioned he was also a pretty brainwashed little kid with really messed up views on women and crazy religious whackjob parents. Considering all that, I would have stayed far, far away from him too to be honest. Apart from the fact that I wouldn't have been attracted to him looks-wise back then, all the crazy behavior and weirdness surrounding him would have sent warning bells ringing in my ears. Hair texture does change with age and hormones. Mine has changed a lot as well over the course of my life. The first 3 or 4 years of my life my hair was really curly, then for the rest of my childhood it was really straight (I had a similarly dumb hair cut as Axl lengthwise, basically the 90s version of it). As a teenger my hair started to become wavy. My hair is still wavy, but it's the kind of wavy that can be easily killed with careful blow drying or a few moments with a straightening iron. And it also gets less wavy the longer it gets. Axl's hair might be the same way. But I think you could also make a case for Axl's hair always having been kind of wavy and him usually straightening it back in the day. Exhibit 1 : Izzy using what appears to be a sraightening iron on his hair (and successfully too, it looks like). So they clearly were aware that these things existed and knew how to use them. And then we have a number of pictures of young Axl of course with his hair being pretty wavy and curling to the sides. Not just this mugshot but also this picture for example: or this one with Gina Siler: In the Rapidfire pics his hair is pretty wavy too actually. If you look at the bottom parts of it, it's curling up quite a a bit there (and also curling away from his face): His hair seems more layered in all of these than it was later on (or earlier), making it easier for the hair to curl up. Though you can even see his hair curl a bit at the bottom in these pictures: It's also rather wavy and has the side curl in this picture from the 80s: And later on it still wasn't always perfectly straight: In all these pictures his hair is slightly wavy, especially around the sides of his face. So the way his hair looks now (even the strange side curl) might just be a result of his hair being shorter (making it easier for his hair to curl up, like it did in the early 80s), combined with him being older (which tends to make your hair more dry and stiff and less soft) and him not using a straightening iron anymore. 7 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This type of hair will come in all different forms depnding on what you do with them. If you just wash it in any shampoo and leave it to dry, it will look horrible, will be all wavy, partly curly, partly straight, pointed in all directions and frizzy as hell. If you wash it in a good straightening shampoo and use a good conditioner and then blow dry them on a brush they will be pretty straight and nice, of course you can also use the straightener and it will be straight and nice too. Anyway I don't need to change much to have completely different hair from one time to another. Probably same goes for Axl. As for the mugshot: to me that guy looks nothing like him - different shape of face, completely different lips. The high school Axl is 100% Axl even though it's even earlier, the mugshot Axl looks so much like a different person I have serious doubts if it is him. dgnr Posted October 3, 2016 Share Posted October 3, 2016 All these pics @Lumikki and I just realised that my hair looks so much like his, it's scary haha So, talking for experience, I used to hate my hair, because it's thin, almost no volume and it's not that much, but as soon as I changed hairdresser and he told me what to do I'm ok with it now haha 1- So he always must have had my kinda hair - on front he just has like a layer and that's why he needs the bangs, or the bangs cut shorter than the rest. If they are at the same size as the rest of the hair or let's say passing the cheeks, he's screwed. Because the hair will start to waving not in a beautiful way and curling to the back, ending up showing that there's no hair beside the first layer, exactly like in these pics. 2 - So the secret is, Axl: always cut the bangs in maximum by the size of your eyes, but ideally passing a little bit of your eyebrows, that way they will behave and your hair will look nice like in these. 3 - About the curling, well, the shorter the hair is the curlier and wavier it will be. But the secret in this is: DON'T LET IT DRY NATURALLY. Just get off the shower, comb it, the bangs to the front of your forehead, now just use the hairdryer, you don't need a brush or anything, just dry it normally. When it's done comb it again, the bangs to the back. To me that's pretty obviously Axl in both pictures. Besides, the source of both of these mugshot pictures is the guy from GQ magazine who went around Lafayette digging up old shit about Axl. He got these mugshots from the helpful local police. And Lafayette isn't that big. Realistically speaking, there can't have been that many guys named William Bailey around who a) looked like Axl b) were Axl's age c) were juvenile delinquents and d) were being juvenile delinquents at the same time Axl was. Not to mention that we even know the backstory to at least one of these mugshots iirc (the story about Axl and Dana Gregory and the little kid leaving skid marks with his bike). Unfortunately we're talking about the 60s and 70s in small town Indiana here. Awareness about issues like child abuse wasn't the same back then as it is now. I'm sure some people must have noticed what was going on, but these people probably thought it wasn't any of their business.
