Lukinx Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 (edited) Well I know lists don´t really mean anything but since we ain´t getting any real news this is a fun read. It´s scanned from a 2006 issue of Kerrang Magazine who listed the most important bands in rock between the years 1981-2006.Most Important Rock Bands In The World 1981-2006 (says Kerrang!):01. Iron Maiden02. Guns N´Roses03. Metallica04. AC/DC05. Green Day06. Ozzy Osbourne07. Slayer08. Faith No More09. Pantera10. Nirvana11. Bon Jovi12. Korn13. Judas Priest14. Blink 18215. Nine Inch Nails16. Fugazi17. Napalm Death18. Black Flag19. Soundgarden20. Slipknot21. Def Leppard22. Marylin Manson23. Emperor24. Rage Against The Machine25. MotörheadHere is a scan of the Guns N´Roses piece (they did one for every band on the list):And here´s a download-link for the scan for those of you who want to keep it in it´s original size:http://s9.quicksharing.com/v/489185/Guns_N...t_Band.jpg.htmlEnjoy! There Was A Fine Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 IRON MAIDEN 1? WtF!!!I EXPECT NIRVANA TO BE ONE CONSIDERING KERRANG FUCKING LOVE THEM
Zint Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Agreeable for the most part...positions on the list I'd rearrange somewhat. But it's not completely outrageous as many of these lists tend to be.
Graeme Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 What do they say? I hope they have some positive shit about the new band and don't just focus on the AFD line up.... talk about beating a dead horse. They should write about the current GnR or nothing at all.Otherwise it just keeps up the illusion that Steven, Duff and co are still in the band.
zakk Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Blink 182 over Soundgarden??? Make me puke!!!!
bluesy Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Slipknot, Korn and Bon Jovi, but no Van Halen?! Jeez...
Naupis Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 I hope they have some positive shit about the new band and don't just focus on the AFD line up....At this point the new band is nothing more than a better version of Adler's Appetite. They have done nothing to make GNR an important rock band, as they have never even released an album. Of course they are going to focus on the AFD line-up, because they are the ones responsible for getting them on the list in the first place.
Leigh-Rok! Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Yes Kerrang, you know shit.Where's My Chemical Romance?! You seem to run your literrotica about them every fucking week!!
MAXITO Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 IF U SEE THE LIST, THERE IS NO BAND WITH THE SAME IMPACT AS GNR, PERHAPS METALLICA.............BUT AS WE ALL KNOW THEY DESTROYED THEIR REPUTATION WITH THEIR LAST ALBUMS............SO FUCK KERRANG................ GUNS ARE MUCH BETTER THAN THOSE BANDS IN THE LIST..............................BU THE WAY, CAN ANYONE TELL ME WTF IS Fugazi?
Lukinx Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 (edited) BU THE WAY, CAN ANYONE TELL ME WTF IS Fugazi?Fugazi is an amazing alternative band which features the former singer of Minor Threat/Embrace. In Fugazi he plays guitar and sings, but they also have another guy on vocals so they´re two singers in the band. They are a political band that doesn´t comprimise with anyone. They don´t do interviews with magazines they wouldn´t read themselves, they don´t sell merch (only records) and they try to keep both shows and records as cheap as possible. You should check them out!!!! They´re great! Edited November 22, 2006 by Lukinx
neon2002 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 GN'R is MUCH better than MaidenEveryone is better than Iron Maiden...
steveysham Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 iron maiden at number one...where they should be.
Tyler Drama Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 (edited) I think the top 2 should be Led Zeppelin and Nazarath. Remember, this is "Most Important Band" not "Best Band". A Zeppelin song turned Axl on to Rock N' Roll and Nazarath's "Love Hurts" turned Axl on to his high voice. Edited November 22, 2006 by GNRSkidRow1
steveysham Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 ^yeh but the time span is 81 - 06. the only band which is still going over that time period is maiden.
Revolver Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Iron Maiden nr. 1!?!?!?! what the FUCK!?! and Green Day a rock band?!? give me a break!
steveysham Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Iron maiden are definately one of the most talented bands out performing today, if you can't see that, then you are blind or ignorant
GNR06 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 I was happy to see GNR at #2. But when you see Iron Maiden at #1, it makes you think that this Kerrang poll is ridiculous.
The Third Man Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Iron Maiden definetely deserve to be number one on that list. They've done more for heavy metal than anyone except Black Sabbath. The lack of Van Halen and The Crue is a bit worrying though
