"Better" music video leak discussion - DISCUSSION ONLY

It's a bit strange. Some of it is a little cheesy, and I don't know why they're highlighting guys who weren't in the band anymore. I think it's legit, they just weren't happy with the finished produce and shelved it. A lot of people here think it's cheesy, and it's sort of pointless to highlight and introduce members of the band who aren't in the band anymore.

My guess is that this is official, but was not meant to be a "music video" in the sense that we think of them (i.e. MTV, on Vevo, etc.) but probably more of a promotional video for Chinese Democracy as a whole. I would not be surprised if this would have played at Best Buy or something. Obviously, although "Better" is the song, this is not specific to the song and seems more like it's just a call-out to all the big players on the album and the touring of the album (thus Buckethead's presence on the video as well as a few clips of 2002 footage).

You are talking out of your ass right now.

First - nobody instructed anybody not to play the single. Once the album was out, everybody was playing whatever the fuck they wanted. It's a VERY rare case in which a record label stops play of its own album, and usually comes with a pull back of the album completely off the shelf. That was the case actually with Iron Maiden't last album, which was released by accident in some territories and then EMI sent an urgent message to those territories to stop radio play and pull back the album ASAP.

That almost never happens. Once an album is out, there is no label in the world that would sabotage its own sales except for extreme cases. When we got the album (back when I worked for the record company) the order was to push it to the fucking moon with advertising and radio play. There was never anything even remotely close to what you're claiming. The reaction from the different stations was quite the same - although the songs are ok, they will never go anywhere close to a commercial chart these days. Radio here didn't like it (only one station, that is known for playing alternative stuff, fell in love with If The World for whatever reason).

EDIT: I have never seen a case in which an album was up on the shelves for sale, and a label forbid playing songs off it on the radio.

Second - What does my station have anything to do with the fact that Better was a flop? Audience doesn't like it - Radio doesn't play it. It's that simple. Audience likes Miley Cyrus - Radio plays Miley Cyrus. It takes two to tango. What you think because Somebody at the station likes Megadeth, then we'll play Megadeth all day? You have ZERO idea about how charts, radio play and record releases work. What "problem" are you talking about? Fact of the matter is more people are buying Katy Perry's last album than CD. Meaning that is what the majority of the people prefer. It's not a "problem". It's the flavor of this generation. You can say you don't like it, but that is the reality, so eat it up, buddy. Charts reflect that flavor.

To answer your question - the station I work at doesn't have a specific style or genre. Different shows play different music.

Ok then - please explain the never before seen car footage at the start, backstage videos, the bike, Lars, etc. all with the same consistent quality.

Please don't get lost in thought,u will be a stranger there.

 this topic.

How would you have anything to say on this subject? You haven't even seen the video.

I compile facts and reach a conclusion, its not that complicated.I bet you could do the same if you tried really hard.

stfu, you saw the video.

Nope, did not download nor watch any such video yesterday.

Your psychic powers have failed you grasshopper ;)

Good for you then, because it sucks.

Opinions vary. I'm sure you are an expert at music, making videos, production, recording, promotion as well as mixing, mastering etc. etc.

The e-experts online reek of ridicuulosity and overestamate their supposed importance.

Have a great day :)

i understand not wanting to bite the hand that feeds you, but c'mon. The radio industry's agenda has always been to get the original lineup back together for money money money. Sabotaging CD was part of the bigger plan to try and get that done.

No one likes Mlikey Cyrus. It's because radio like your station plays in 14 times in 90 minutes. People buy it because they are brainwashed, not because they prefer it.

Radio's always been corrupt in that way. You're gonna play what you are told.

It reminds me of a band excited to play new material and audiences excited to hear it. Stark difference from a band whos biggest pop is playing a song from the old catalog. Don't get me wrong i liked seeing them play the old songs but the video just shows a group looking to accomplish something new and we don't see that anymore.

Who's spotted the red little china man running around throughout the video? I see him once at the beginning and end.

I only saw him at the end, can you point us to his other appearances at the "begining" and "throughout the video", what times are they?

He jumps out the car quite quickly at the start, with Axl.

The most bad ass thing I've ever seen is watching Axl speed around in a Lamborghini with a police escort.

it's a ferrari enzo actually

Ummmm radio is run by advertising dollars. Those said dollars are derived from the amount of listeners to that particular station. Those particular listeners tune into the radio to hear songs they like being played which in turn means more revenue from advertising. It's not rocket science. It's no conspiracy. Radio plays what the people want to hear. Radio does not have a vendetta for Axl due to breaking up the old band.

So just to be clear here, have you seen the video? Yes or No?

Are you thick?

For the record,I did not download or view said video in the last 72 hours.

Curious as to your reason why you haven't checked out the video? Because it was not officially released?

I think whatever happened between axl and robin played a large role in the lack of promotion and no videos. I think axl really wanted to help make robin a house hold name, once he left axl was probably pissed for a while. I know they have made nice sence then, but axl can hold a serious grudge. I bet it was robin that made the first move to make nice. He didnt want to go into slash territory.

if you don't believe radio and it's playlists are strongly influence by (if not controlled by) the record industry and who they want to push on the public, etc. you have a lot to learn about reality.

@ sailaway. Yeah, I think it sucks and it sucks for you because the video will never be officially release, so you will never see it for yourself, ever. But trust me, the video is average at best.

How special,I will undoubtedly remember this moment forever

Gunner since 88' :hahafyou:

too late, too late...but good to see Axl doing his thing in a professional manner.

I think Better could have been a hit and introduced the band to younger people.

cool video, sad to watch it now and think about what could have been.

There are a whole lot of what could have beens with this band.
