Fun fact...Waylon started out playing bass for Buddy Holly. Rode with the band in a van that night instead of taking the plane with Buddy and them.

People understate or else flat out ignore the country influence to Buddys work, the man was from Lubbock for fuckssake.

I meant like in the tunes. It's obviously there. In Buddy's singing as well.

Hes not even mentioned much in the rockabilly sphere.  Actually people generally discount the value of the contribution of country music to rock n roll.  Gospel too.

It's a crazy world.

It's actually quite funny if you think about it, this rock n roll thing, which at its height was considered like...this left wing freaky subversive thing actually comes from yokels and Christianity, praise Jesus, where WOULD we be without him?

Yeah, you can hear it all over his work. Even in his big hits you can hear hints of it. Waylon was from Lubbock and it's no coincidence they helped bring out that rockabilly sound. Wanna hear some good bass? Waylon plays top notch bass and many songs thump and groove. For all the shit it gets (and has become) country is actually very original. Like the blues, hip hop, and early rock n roll. Elvis had tons of country in him.

Good little watch if you got 5 minutes.

Very true. Johnny Cash grew up on gospel and was arguably the most influential country artist ever for rockers.

Gotta love Waylon. I like Shooter especially his first couple of albums.
