  1. Josh is on a lot of the Village demos... Anything GNR releases will likely have vocals from 1999-2007, and Axl was still great then, so of course we'd like to hear it. We all know that nothing new is gonna be released, but I think Axl could pull off good studio versions of Wichita Lineman and The Seeker. It'd be a shame if they did actual new songs and all the vocals sounded like Rock The Rock though.
  2. Best: GNR 2010 - Everything about this was perfect, from the overall experience to the show itself. It was my first time seeing them, and I was front row. The CD songs were the highlights, IRS, If The World, Shackler's, Better... Axl was really talkative and interactive, telling stories before/during WTTJ and KOHD, and he brought out Bubbles (plus a Bubbles impersonator) for Liquor & Whores. Baz was a great opener too. Slipknot / Deftones 2009 - I was 16, and seeing Joey Jordison just a few meters in front of me blew my mind. The show was tons of fun, it was one of the first shows where they played Snuff (it was the 4th time they'd ever played it live) and it ended up being one of the last shows with the classic lineup. I'm not much of a Deftones fan but damn, they put on a hell of a show, we couldn't have asked for a better opener. RHCP 2023 - For a band that changes their setlist every night, I feel lucky to have seen a near perfect show. I just wish they played longer than 1hr 45min. The band was definitely having a good night though, John was on fire, Chad is a beast and Flea of course has a history with Vancouver. So glad I got to hear Eddie, Carry Me Home, Otherside, Wet Sand, etc. Foxy Shazam 2012 - This tour might have been their peak as a live band, they were incredible. They only played for an hour but still did a bunch of new songs, they ended with The Temple and turned it into a 10-minute jam/story with Eric eating cigarettes. Buckethead w/ Brain and Brewer 2017 - So glad I got to see Bucket and Brain perform together. Caught the ferry to Seattle the night before, spent the day checking out record stores and stuff, then saw them play at the Showbox which is a really cool venue. Hearing Nottingham Lace and Interworld And The New Innocence were definitely the highlights. Honourable mentions to Aerosmith/Motley Crue in 2006, on the Route Of All Evil tour... I could list a bunch more but I'll stop there. Worst: Marilyn Manson 2009 - He was out of shape physically and vocally, and spent a lot of the show just walking around the stage spitting out Budweiser. (He'd take a swig, spit it out, and do it again... he went through plenty of bottles but probably only drank one of them). The sound in the arena was shit, too. At least the opening band, Die Mannequin, were good. Puddle of Mudd 2010 - Had to sit through them at a festival. The singer was shitfaced and the band seemed like they couldn't wait for the show to be over. Shinedown 2012 - I'd seen them a couple years earlier and thought they were good, but the 2nd time I saw them felt so flat and choreographed. Buckcherry 2014 - This was the 3rd time I'd seen them, I saw them on Crue Fest and then headlining a small arena in 2009 and they were good, but the 2014 show was lackluster. I don't know if they were burnt out from touring, but at least my ticket was free... Theory Of A Deadman 2009 - Another band I had to sit through at a festival, 'bland' would be a nice way to describe them.
  3. A lot of his stuff is pretty bland, but I'd say the same for Slash and Duff. Like A Dog is a good album though.
  4. He released a few singles in 2016, and he's recorded more recently: https://www.instagram.com/p/CqGmd--pRBm/ Izzy wouldn't make any difference when it comes to new GNR music though. He could bring in 50 songs and Axl wouldn't release any of them.
  5. About a month ago I was on vacation in Mexico. My parents have worked with a dog rescue there before, so I had a dog for a week to socialize her. She's a sweetheart, and my parents ended up fostering her in Canada, so I brought my dog to meet her. She still acts like a puppy and my dog's too old to keep up with her, but they still became friends quickly
  6. He was absolutely a beast in 2016... with AC/DC. He was still good in 2016 with GNR but the shows I saw in 2017 were noticeably weaker, and like shadowofthewave said he'd been getting weaker since the SA 2016 shows.
  7. NxWorries finally released another single and their tour starts in a week.... albums gotta be announced soon.
  8. It's the combination of the cheesy lyrics and the dramatic vocals, especially the layered vocals in the chorus that kinda ruin it for me. It was a highlight in 2010 though, basically Axl's solo spot, and the remix vocals are incredible. A more 'raw' take on the album would've fit the song better IMO.
  9. Instrumentally, TIL is one of the best songs ever released under the GNR name. The lyrics and vocals ruin it though.
  10. SIDHY was in a Netflix movie last year, Metal Lords I think, so it probably got a boost in streams from that.
  11. I assume they'll be playing at different ends of the park, looks like this festival usually has 4 stages. Most Lil Baby fans will leave before GNR starts, or at the latest, when they hear Axl attempt WTTJ. The 'bunch of different acts thrown together' thing is true. The main festival in my city was announced today, and I want to go see Iggy Pop, but I don't really want to pay festival prices for a bunch of other bands I don't care about...
  12. Wow, GNR are really out of place in that lineup. If they do announce more shows, they'll almost definitely be festivals, since their own shows aren't selling
  13. I saw them in Seattle in mid-December 2011, and it was one of the best GNR shows I've seen. It was the first of 2 shows that Duff opened and he joined them for YCBM, which was cool but not as good as London 2010. Axl was having a good night though, songs like Better and Civil War weren't far from 2010 standards. It was also the "dolphin bomb" show where someone from this forum (I can't remember his username) handed out inflatable dolphins to people in the GA line, for Estranged. Civil War Estranged Saw them the next night in Vancouver (Duff played Dust N Bones and joined them for Civil War and YCBM) but it wasn't as good as Seattle...
  14. Yea that was a great show... Yesterdays, TWAT, Prostitute and Marseilles were all great and Axl really brought the rasp for those last 2014 performances.
  15. I did pick just one... of the shows I've been to. The band has sounded different in every era so bootlegs are harder to choose from, plus there's tons of bootlegs obviously. I could've listed another 10 shows in that post
  16. Of the shows I've seen - Calgary 2010, and it's not really even close. The first night in Vegas 2016 had a great atmosphere of course, but Canada 2010 was their best tour since UYI. Including bootlegs, I don't think I could pick one... but I've listened to MSG 1991 (3rd night), Rock Am Ring 2006, Music Machine 1986, Syracuse 1987 and Felt Forum 1988 a lot.
  17. No, they're probably confusing Axl recording Back In The Saddle with Axl/Steven recording a song...
  18. The backing vocals are by Shaina Sheperd.
  19. It's fine, it wouldn't have been out of place on Tenderness. I wish Axl would do some vocals and Slash would record some solos on Duff songs though, they could release a good acoustic EP if they actually tried...
  20. Man, this is just sad. We'd all like to hear more albums from Axl... but only if it's actually Axl. I don't know how you can think that people who don't want fake recordings are "stuck in the past"... a lot of people on here rarely even listen to the old albums anyway. For example, evader's version of The General was interesting to listen to, but it's not the kind of thing I'd listen to more than once or twice, and AI songs are way less interesting. I thought it was odd that people had Rock The Rock in their playlists, but being so desperate for new Axl recordings that you'll listen to AI songs is just weird. There's too many bands still making good music for me to have any interest in AI "music". I really don't get the recent obsession with things like this or chatgpt.
  21. True. I think Slash would be the best GNR member for a Hot Ones interview. Whether it's music or horror movies he's usually got something to promote, he's more famous to the general public, and he'd probably be more entertaining than Axl or Duff.
  22. Hot Ones has had legends like Lenny Kravitz and LL Cool J somewhat recently, but yea I'd definitely prefer to see Axl on Club Random or JRE.
  23. Maybe you should check out the episodes with Dave Grohl, Lenny Kravitz, Post Malone, etc to get a sense of what it's like, it's more entertaining than any other interview show I can think of...
  24. They'd find a balance pretty easily, Sean gets complimented regularly about the niche questions. Tbh I think out of all the GNR members, Slash would be the most entertaining guest on Hot Ones.
  25. The whole point of hot ones is that it's not a regular interview. It would be interesting to see Axl on the show (maybe he'd be asked about voice work on GTA and niche stuff like that) but yea, it probably wouldn't happen.
