  1. We won't hear news of GNR by Richard, ever. What he said in this interview was already told. You could only see it as confirmation that the plans didn't change yet, which is a good sign for now.
  2. I don't know. The demo solo I heard wasn't anything special either. Don't know if it was the 2000 mix or something else.
  3. I personally have no problem with the transition. My main problem is that the solo ends when it should pick up intensity and speed.
  4. Who's more naive? Us, for believing in what different GNR members try to tell us about new music or them for believing Axl that he will enter the studio after the release of the old CD material
  5. Like you said, it could be just the words he chose. I wouldn't read to much into that sentence other than they wanna release new music at some point. But then again, it could be the typical pre reunion Fortus interview.
  6. And something like they wanna get rid of the music they have to concentrate on new music. Basically the same thing Slash said.
  7. That could be an intro for some gangsta rap kind of thing. The beginning of it at least. I hope The General is a hard rock/metal tune.
  8. I thought that sounded annoying. I prefer the original tone.
  9. IMO Hard Skool benefits from Slash’s guitar during the verses a lot. It makes the music sound like GNR. I've never fell in love with his slide guitar. Always preferred the first half of the solo.
  10. I'm not listening much to radio but heard Hard Skool a few times when it came out. Haven't heard Perhaps though
  11. Yeah, he probably didn't want to foreground himself, or he didn't have more 'space' for the solo, I mean, what he plays fits the song, he could noodle around, but its a little to less for 'Slash' imo.
  12. I think if he's working on a song that needs a big epic solo, he won't have any trouble to deliver. He could have played an extended solo on Perhaps but it probably wouldn't fit with the existing drum track. Hard Skool is what it is and it got the solo it deserved. On Absurd Slash's guitarwork is short but great. Again, exactly what the song needs. I've never heard anything of The General, not even the cellphone recording. Therefore I wouldn't take it for granted that it's the holy grail of the CD catalogue, even though I wanna believe in what Bach said. But it could indeed be one of those epic songs Slash mentioned when talking about the reworked music. There's not much left and I don’t wanna believe he had Perhaps in mind when talking about the epic songs. So if The General is that what people expecting, than I'm sure his guitar work will improve automatically.
  13. Never thought about it but now that you mentioned it I think I get the 14 Years structure thing... even though the 14 Years solo is pure class rock n roll. And So Fine is his basically a trademark 'let the guitar cry' Slash solo even if it's simplistic. The solo on Perhaps isn't near of any of those solos imo...
  14. It's obvious because of the style of the songs. I admit, in a live setting when you don't know the song you might get confused but somebody who understands music should be able to tell if it's a song written in the 80s/90s or in 2020.
  15. It's not only Slash's sound. What he plays is barely a guitar solo compared to what laid down for the Illusions
  16. We know Slash writes music on tour. That means he surely had enough time and a lot of opportunities to sit down and share ideas with Duff. Those two are buddies since forever, to me it's not imaginable that they didn't wrote some music in between gigs and on the road. Question is how involved Axl is. Slash said they haven't sit down and wrote music but I think that point was made only regarding Axl. Expectations would rise extremely and all the weight would be on Axl's shoulders if he said something like 'me and Duff wrote some stuff and we are waiting for Axl to cone up with lyrics and melodies.'
  17. He said that in the early days of the reunion, but said something contrary more recently. Iirc he said, when he's on tour with SMKC he only has them in mind when writing music and the same with GNR. But really I don't know exactly what he said.
