Has anybody heard anything else about Matts' book, for instance has it been cancelled for good?  He must be gutted if it has as he has been marketing it for months now.

My position on these videos would have been to comment in the knowledge that Team Brazil and therefore Guns N' Roses are proceeding with 'baby steps''. Team Brazil were literally proceeding from the lowliest position imaginable (toy cars and beach towels): nothing of interest for the fans; no live-archival stuff like all the other bands do; antipathy - hostility - with the fanbase, etc etc. Fernando, instigated by the fans' desire, then put three videos out which was a significant improvement on basically everything Fernando has ever released before just by existing, irrespective of quality. You are literally proceeding from ''toy cars'' to ''live footage'': that is quite a leap in the dark, quite a big step, for this mismanaged band. It would be different if Fernando had been releasing beforehand superb full concerts like Metallica and then we would all be saying to ourselves: ''why only the three songs? Why has the editing/mixing regressed?''.

You can only ''walk before you run''. Who knows; maybe it might have been five videos next time? Maybe the editing and quality might have improved. But the videos were crucified - unfairly I feel, as Slash was superb - and if I saw the comments I'd be thinking, ''bugger that load of cunts, I'll go back to releasing toy trucks''.

You make some very valid points here, he may have been holding out an Olive branch only to feel we had not accepted it but then again I thought he did not entertain this site.  A shame as I was looking forward to some GnR interaction.

I think the one who comes off the worst in the book is Matt himself. This is a guy who brags about coming up with a "system" for picking up girls backstage and marking the ones who had given blowjobs to crew members so that the band avoided them.

It seems you may be right highlighted by the recent announcement from Fernando that some stuff was going to be released for us only for it to be three songs and nothing since.  I just wonder, with the break in momentum this year, what size of audience they will be able to command next year without anything to keep the juices flowing until then.

It is absolutely delightful to find such a cornacopia of material on GnR, you have both obviously worked so hard.  I wish you  luck with your book which I greatly look forward to.

In my opinion nothing can top what GNR have already done, but at this rate it’s not even about putting out a masterpiece. You can’t hold anyone to that standard. You let them release something, listen to it with an open mind, then formulate an opinion on it. But its almost like some fans are stuck in 1987.  No one wants evolution. Chi Dem era of GNR was a rollercoaster. NITL was great. Whats next?

By the way I am a new fan of GNR, I came across them about six months ago as did a few of my friends...they will never lose their relevance.

It is making me laugh at how much anger there seems to be at my not knowing Blink,  gosh I do apologise  I have googled to find their music is seen as  'pop punk' (maybe why on Top of the Pops) and the worst critique in the history of NME, begining 'why dont they go back'....each to their own.  As for all these bands having put out more stuff than GNR, is any of it anywhere near the genius of Appetite, it is what it is.

How does this kind of situation pan out...all goes quiet until next time I suppose or maybe there is something big on the way
