I watched a couple of a cover videos yesterday afternoon.

That was when I started to confuse myself about the song's tuning.

Some comments from those videos mentioned Drop D whereas others mentioned Drop D and half a step down.

I haven't played the geetar in a long time, but Slash always played half a step down (well in GNR he did).

So I'm guessing it would be half a step down with a drop-D. Which gives that real heavy, bouncy sound

Figure it out by ear, no? Use that chromatic bassline at the end of the riff (3rd, 2nd, 1st fret on the bottom D-string) as a reference

Okay, just heard this song for the first time on Planet Rock radio... (and listend to it a few more times on youtube)

...and I really like it! In no way did it shake my world or anything but it is undeniably a "not-bad" song. I really dig the heavy riff (though is does sound a little generic) and the harsh pace the song set during the chorus.

Two things that disappointed me though:

1) Myles's voice in the chorus. I hate it when he does that nasal-voice thing during high-pitched "scream-o" bits, it just doesn't sit right with me (but I guess thats just my personal preference)

2) Surprisingly, the solo! It was disappointing because it just doesn't seem to go anywhere! It starts of promising and then .... then at around 2:50 mark I felt like "yes this is it!" but then it seems to fizzles out again... :shrugs:

I love the little outro bit during "I don't need you to save me anymore".

Thread officially derailed...

I was hoping for more POVs on the song and all I get is stupid $lash vs Axl Ro£$ stuff...

BTW: has someone posted the full lyrics of the song yet? If not, I'll work on it now...

that'd be cool, go for it.

Okay, here is what I hear...

You're a Lie

You were the voice of reason that I can’t escape,

Cut me down a thousand times a day.

I don’t need you anymore...

I don’t need you anymore...

I trusted you and now it’s no one else,

All you did was make me doubt myself.

Don’t believe you anymore...

Don’t believe you anymore...

You bled me out,

You tore me down!

Your time has come, you can go!

Cause you’re a lieeee (LIE) lieeeeee (LIE)

All my faith has been wasted. Wasted!

Cause you’re a lieeee (LIE) lieeeeee (LIE)

I don’t need you to save me anymore...

I’m fragile but I’m not a fool,

I won’t hear another word from you.

You won’t hurt me anymore...

You won’t hurt me anymore...

The hands I held just held me down.

It took so long, now I know...

Cause you’re a lieeee (LIE) lieeeeee (LIE)

All my faith has been wasted. Wasted!

Cause you’re a lieeee (LIE) lieeeeee (LIE)

I won’t sit here and take this anymore...

You can say anything that you wanna say,

But my attention’s long gone and turned away!

You’re such a lie, you were only the enemy.

Everything you are I will deny...

(solo)

Cause you’re a lieeee (LIE) lieeeeee (LIE)

I’ll just come out and say it, say it!

Cause you’re a lieeee (LIE) lieeeeee (LIE)

All my faith has been wasted, wasted!

Cause you’re a lieeee (LIE) lieeeeee (LIE)

I don’t need you to save me anymore...

I don’t need you to save me anymore...

I don’t need you to save me anymore...

(I think I got it right, tell me if you think there are any mistakes)

Guitar wise I love this long (apart from the solo, strangely enough)

I trusted you and now it’s no one else,

I'm hearing "I trusted you when there was no one else" on that line. other than that looks good to me.

Interesting... I listened to that part a few more times and idk...

Both sound like they could fit to me but the meaning it represents changes.

I suppose "when there was no one else" makes more sense. :shrugs:

I'll change it if more people agree?

  • 2 weeks later...

On hearing the full track it really had more potential to be much grittier and stonger. The into and riff are really hard rocking and cool but the song kinda becomes generic. Myle's voice and the solo lack the and anger that say Axl would sing it with. That riff is seriously really cool, the track really coulda been so much better.
