David FincherI wanted to put George Romero since he pretty much spawned an entire genre, but I just can't given his spotty track record
DieselDaisy
1/ Akira Kurosawa 2/ Stanley Kubrick 3/ Takeshi Kitano 4/ Alfred Hitchcock 5/ Martin Scorcsese Dario Argento would be sixth followed by John Woo. Woo would have been higher but his American films are garbage. Romero is great but the guy has not made a great film since Day of the Dead. Honourable mentions for Lau Gar Leung and Cheng Che, Ringo Lam, King Hu, Takeshi Miki etc. Edited August 29, 2013 by DieselDaisy

DieselDaisy
Woo would have been higher but his American films are garbage. Face/Off would like a word with you.It is the best of the bunch and I also have some time for Hard Target but neither are anywhere near the same class as Hard Boiled, The Killer, A Better Tommorow and Bullet in the Head. And then he ended up doing Mission Impossible 2 and some shit war film with Nicolas Cage. Woo declined faster than Axl Rose!

Ricky_Rose
I have always been fond of David Fincher, Darren Aronofsky, Danny Boyle, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men is a masterpiece).Regarding this poll, I would have thought that Kurosawa would have ranked higher than Tarantino. I also would have thought that Fellini would have made it on the list.
