I can say with absolute confidence i am, and likely most anyone in the musicians section, a better guitarist than DJ.

Then you must be a professional, or? No offense intended, just curious :)

Are you kidding me?

Are you saying that DJ is a better guitarist than every single human being on earth who isn't doing it for a living?

Do you honestly believe it works that way?

Being professional and being proficient are two completely diffetent things. For example, someone like Syd Viscous was a "professional" musician, despite the fact that despute me not being a bass player I could still play rings around him, but taking your argument it would seem he would be in the elite if bass players. I know this is in effect an argumentum ad absurdum but whatever.

OT, I dont have that much confidence in my own abilities as a guitarist but I would say that I too am a better player than DJ and a better songwriter but meh, its all opinions right? My mom liked my songs!

Can we judge that? post some of your work here pls.(you or anyone else).

Not a fan of Six AM or BC but there's nice n successful guitar work there. Successful is not always a good thing, especially in the music biz.

he never was a professional musician. He was an image, he looked cool that's it. On the record is all Steve Jones(i believe), Sid was the ORIGINAL poser.

Ah forgive me I was trying to pull an extremem example. Im not a huge Sex Pistols fan despite being british. I guess you could probably go for someone like Billy Joe Armstrong and the point still stands? Just my opinion.

He is still a better guitarist than you guys, until I hear otherwise. :shrugs:

He might be, but we're not in a band trying to play (and constantly ruining) other people's songs in front of a paying audience.

Much like I'd probably be rubbish at being a carpenter. But I still expect an actual carpenter I pay for to do good work. And not look and act like a 15 year old crybaby emo girl when he shows up for work. #bullied

Finck was still sloppier tho. We had threads like this when he was in the band. Same went for Paul.

Finck has looked ridiculous and played sloppy on occasion. But DJ does them at the same time. Constantly. And 100 times worse. And then posts about it on social media. And acts like a giant douche thinking he's a rockstar. And uses the word "swag".

To be honest I think it's unfair to bash him for his looks. I mean, I really don't like his style but if he feels comfortable in it, meh why not?

The fact that he uses 'swag' makes me cringe tho, no one should use that term.

The one thing that I dislike the most about DJ is the fact that he can't get Robin's parts on CD songs right. Sure, he sometimes messes up Slash's parts but the most noticable ones for me are his slip ups on for example Better and The Blues. I've yet to hear live versions where DJ nails these songs.

What I do like is his version of the This I Love solo. (When he gets it right)

He really nailed it when I saw them in Birmingham and Arnhem in 2010.

Finck didn't play sloppy on occasion. Finck's playing was sloppy 100% of the time. By design or otherwise, the dude never played clean or accurately.

The GNR guys lived on the streets and in the same room basically, yet Slash comes across as a cool guy and Axl was batshit but he had a lot about him, a lot of wisdom and layers and his interviews were insightful, Ashba I get this image of how hard he tries to seem hardcore and rock n' roll and on the same level as other guitarists who have a wealth of material to back their credentials up I dunno. As much as he gets ragged on here, I enjoy Ballad and Amor and 75% of the time (which is the minimum expected...) his performances (just musically) are fine. He just has so much fronting going on that works in his favour regards to cash and fans so maybe that's the way to go for him.

Thanks! I'd promote all my clothing line and sponsorships, but all we have is a Facebook and an EP on iTunes. #Demented

HOW YALL FEEL??? :headbang:

He says in GNR he is stepping into some pretty big shoes and that's something he takes pretty serious...doing whatever he can to do those shoes justice, apparently.

He needs to try harder

Fink and bucket's shoes are pretty big alright

Not to be an ass, but i don't see in which part you are better than DJ. Do you mean more skilled? There's 11 year old kids more skilled than you or DJ on youtube that even got to play with Ozzy, etc.

There's a lot of factors that make a good guitar player, i put you in the "nice effort" category. Of course, judging by those 2 clips.

I don't even like DJ like other previous guitar players in GNR, but he has done something right cos he's in GNR. Take a look at the 2009 threads on this forum. Most of the now "haters" where praising him.

I thought he was okay back at the beginning until it became obvious that he was a complete and utter douchenozzle!
