hpantazo
sure, Duff's not the best songwriter, but if getting him back in the band also brings Izzy back, then we're talking when it comes to songwriting.
DR DOOM
I think the bottom line is Axl should get the proper Guns N Roses back together.

ShadowOfTheWave
Hope not. The last thing we need is more reunion speculation, and this place was flooded with it when Duff came back in April.
Crash Diet
Tommy sitting out for a show so Duff can play instead seems odd, especially in the middle of a tour when he doesn't have anything else to do. Furthermore, GnR seems to be making it very public that Duff has been performing with them. Do you think this means that by the time the next tour comes around, Tommy will be out and Duff will be back full time? No, Tommy is probably not leaving because Duff will be busy with his other projectsAxl reach the point when he let classic members be a part of his nostalgia actIt's that simple. But neither Duff nor Izzy became a full time hired hand in Axl's band Edited June 1, 2014 by Crash Diet
dalsh327
I think GNR's going to be a loose collective of band members past and present. Duff didn't want to commit to Janes Addiction for a long period of time, so as far as replacing Tommy, highly doubtful. Filling in? Yeah.
PITBOSS
who can guess with this band? we know there will be some kind of shake up after this vegas run. I welcome duff back to the band, I think it is a huge step in the right direction.
stella
There have been numerous references to Tommy being inebriated far more than the other members. Any chance that Axl/TB might feel that it's out of control or that he might be going to rehab? If that's the case I could easily see Duff coming back, at least temporarily. As to whether I'd LIKE to see Duff come back? Absolutely. Duff seems to understand Axl on a level that some of the other band members didn't (in his book he talks about how he understands Axl's mood swings because of his own panic attacks, that it's not something Axl can always control, and that he and Axl actually did have conversations about it), he and Axl like and respect each other, and Axl seems to raise the bar when he's there. GNRmello77
Duff actually is a member of this band isn't he? just not a consistent one and that is all fine and who knows maybe he did write something with Axl, or will they work together on something after the vegas residency and Duff's tour as far as Tommy leaving i don't know would be kinda strange unless he wants it himself
BangoSkank
I voted "Yes," but not because I think it will happen, but because I really, really want it to.
tinyrobot
I voted yes but answer is more complex.Duff will only return if he's given the place he deserves, as a founding member, not an employee and that includes not only playing shows but writing and recording new music.Duff is our only hope to save GN'R. He's the one who makes Axl happy, who Axl has respect for and listens to. If Axl can relay on Duff and pass to him some of the responsability of leading this band, we will have a new album and a better Axl, as it's been proven in every show Mckagan joined to play in the last two months. Don't set yourself up for disappointment. It probably won't happen. But even if Duff won't comeback, he can still work with Axl in the studio, send ideas, and perform with the band live here and there. It wll be better then nothing.Well, I guess I said somewhat the same thing you are saying, with other words. I don't elevate my hopes. After seeing how Axl shines everytime Duff is around, that's all I need to know we need him back in the band. I really doubt Slash can trigger the same in Ax, he has no patience with the redhead, while Duff is more calmed and inspires affection in Axl.Anyways, I know this is just speculation and ultimately it's Axl decision. But that's how it is right now. I see crystal clear.
tinyrobot
We all know this "new band" is Axl making the best out of a bad situation since all the guys he wanted ( Freese, Bucket, Brain, Robin) left the sinking ship.It clearly isn't working.I love Duff, but besides a great bass sound I don't rate his songwriting chops very highly at all- even in GNR.Duff's song contributions are usually cheesey and hamfisted, he was brilliant in Guns N Roses but if he were to rejoin I don't see that as translating to brilliant songs (even 3 and a half minute "punk rockers" ) or Axl changing his ways. He knows how a Guns song should sound like and how to get there. He improves upon ideas, and sometimes comes up with great ones too. I totally believe he can bring some of that classic Gn'R magic to the studio and help Axl write great songs. The problem is Axl doesn´t want that classic sound anymore. Close. The problem is Axl is lazy, bitter, and doesn't give a fuck most of the time. Many classic sounding moments in Chinese, the AC/DC covers, hired Ashba, and so on and so forth. Classic moments in CD? Please I´d like to know what song in CD is like Rocket Queen, Mr. Brownstone, Perfect Crime, Locomotive, YCBM or Don´t Damn Me.None because those are Slash stuff... CD is more like the Illusions. And Duff does like CD. He openly said it and if he wouldn't like it then he wouldn't agree to play the songs from it.Street Of Dreams, This I Love, Some parts of There Was A Time, Catcher in many ways, Chinese Democracy is a pretty straight forward rocker, not unlike what VR did in Contraband, only with different production and many layers.Duff digs the Chinese material. Axl is still a classic rock fan. Classic as in more Illusions, less AFD. It's only Axl after all so it's logical it will take a more Queen direction. But that's classic as well.Street of Dreams is Sweet Child, TWAT is Estranged, Madagascar is Civil War + Estranged, This I Love is November Rain, Catcher is pure Axl (could be a bit of Breakdown). combos
I respect Tommy and like the guy from an artistic sense but, this is Duff's baby and always will be. Just because someone adopts your child and raises it for more years than you have, doesn't mean they're the mother/father. Duff was one of the people who birthed GNR. He will always be a better fit for that reason alone imo.

jbhutto
Having Duff back would help with the whole "it's just Axl and some other guys" thing. But yeah, Duff re-joining the band couldn't be anything but positive.

DieselDaisy
Looks like it might be heading that way, doesn't it. If The Replacements Reunion becomes something more, permanent, it would probably trigger the switch from Stinson to McKagan.
Muddy
Out of all the "Nu" members I respect Tommy the most. He doesn't try to be Duff. He wore pajama pant suits up on stage for awhile and although I don't think its the coolest look a rockstar can have, I respect it.Its a very real possibility of Duff rejoining now, although I wouldn't wanna see it happen unless Slash joined again as well. And I think it would be a step backwards for Axl as far is bringing some integrity to his Nu GNR.
Muddy
Duff's video documentary "its so easy(and other lies)" is supposed to be coming out in November too which I'm guessing is based on his time in Guns N Roses. It would be perfect timing to release the video and rejoin at the same time.Without Slash I see it as Duff co-signing Axl using the name and what hes doing with it. And it would probably mean the end of Velvet Revolver.
