Len Cnut
Further compounding my fervent belief that all metallers are greasy smelly good for nothing work-shy dole scrounging wasters that would benefit from nothing more than a bath and a good honest labouring job.

Dazey
I just read the title as "Swedish Man Gets Disability Benefits" and thought I hadn't realised it was classed as a disability these days. Facekicker
Daftest country in Europe. My favourite recent story was their announcement they'd defend against Russian aggression with feminism
DieselDaisy
Yes, they actually have a political party called Feminist Initiative.

Facekicker
Was Sweden always this prone to sillyness or is it a more recent thing? The recent stuff I've been reading has all the hallmarks of a country hell-bent on destroying itself in order to be seen to "do the right thing." This shit is creeping in here too. I fucking despise it.

Facekicker
Ah the Swedish blond, soon to be made extinct, pushed into oblivion by the larger, short-haired, tatooed loudmouth aggressive Swedish feminist.
Graeme
Tin hat on here, but I actually admire the sentiment behind a lot of these left wing social policies which seem slightly baffling to those of us still mired in laissez-faire neo-liberal economics... It's refreshing to see a society which mainly gets criticised for being "too nice" rather than one which is constantly penalising and demonising its most vulnerable people and allowing the minuscule fraction of its people with the most to continually accrue more wealth, power and status.Fair play, every government the world over makes mistakes and I'm not saying that I agree with them in this specific instance, but overall, I'm definitely on board. Roll on Scottish Social Democracy!

Roll on Scottish Social Democracy!Good post, as usual.I think the only thing that really matters is how content the people are. A society works if it is able to provide its population with sustainable happiness. And if I remember correctly, Sweden comes pretty high up on rankings of life quality, happiness, etc. So we can mock them for the more outlandish things that pop up in the media, but we could also look at those as only the more extreme expressions of a society that actually works pretty well.
CheapJon
Shitty "journalism". The source to this article is from 2011 but it was reported for the first time in in 2007. alfierose
There's probably more of a back story to this than reported. Overwhelming obsessions are usually symptomatic of a genuine disorder or mental health problem that most likely do meet the criteria for disability benefits. That doesn't make for an interesting story though.
Is0tope
Yeah it's kinda funny but you know, the guy may be really fucking psychotically obsessed with it. It could be obsession with lego blocks or whatever..Some of you guys talk shit about Sweden how it's serving its own citizens while you got people living in extreme fucking poverty begging for a dime to buy some bread. Laugh all you want but the country is probably the most socially advanced country in the World and if you really can't see any good in that kind of "socialism" them you're probably brainwashed by your own government thinking you really deserve whatever good you're having and that the poor folks have only themselves to blame..

SoulMonster
We'll take a look again at Sweden in ten years and see whether their whole system is sustainable or not.I think the Nordic model of social democracy has proven itself to be quite sustainable if we look back these last decades.
