Include the first part of what I wrote when quoting me, and you'll understand it. @classicrawker Even if someone is only a guest musician, he'll have his own ideas and share them with the band. Musicians can't do anything different. Edited January 8, 2017 by Zurimor
Gordon Comstock
I like Fortus, he was my favorite of the 2000's guitarist aside from Buckethead. He's proven over the years that he's a good player. Most problems with last years tour came from the pace of the songs IMO, Fortus' nuances and stuff didn't bother me. And for the setlist, they don't even need to it up too much, just pace it differently. Get rid of WYWH/Layla and give Axl and Fortus solos instead. A setlist like this would be awesome: Nightrain Out Ta Get Me Welcome To The Jungle It's So Easy Mr. Brownstone Chinese Democracy -or- Better Live And Let Die -Fortus Solo/Acoustic Jam song (Dead Flowers maybe?) Patience Attitude Locomotive -or- Coma Double Talkin' Jive Civil War Street of Dreams -or- This I Love Rocket Queen -Axl Solo (Gran Torino, Another Brick In The Wall, whatever) November Rain You Could Be Mine Don't Cry -Slash Solo Sweet Child O' Mine Knockin' on Heavens Door There Was A Time My Michelle -or- You're Crazy -lol new song- Estranged Paradise City Bam. Mostly the same songs, way better show. It'll also help if Axl comes out like he's singing with AC/DC.
wasted
Izzy wrote lyrics and melodies. I think bring more Lies, UYI and CD out could be good.

I don't recall Izzy or Gilby ever playing solos during the song and it was always one of their best live songs. No one would be telling him they don't need him. Someone needs to play the rhythm guitar. Getting to do that in Guns N' Roses is a fucking honor.. Neither Izzy or Gilby are equal in ability to Richard he can keep up with Slash in a way that past guitarist could not. Having Richard sit back and just play rhythm is like buying a sports car, using it once a week to go shopping, while driving at a very sensible speed - it just doesn't make sense. Izzy is a great rhythm guitar player, love his playing; I'm not taking anything from him. Gilby is fairly average, and his lead work seems less advanced than even Izzy's.

Music isn't always a competition. Sometimes it's about what fits. I like Richard, he is great, but to say he fits the band more because he is a better player than Izzy is false.

I said having a guitar player on stage who is exceptionally gifted and only using 50% of what he can actually do is a waste. In my opinion he's making Slash play better, so I enjoy it. I know some of you would argue that Slash has always been at the top of his game, but I would disagree. I went to see him twice and I've heard a ton of pro shot footage and his playing was up and down, on this tour he's been far more consistent (aside from the first 5? shows) Music is never a competition, aside from shit singing competitions or battle of the bands. Zurimor
I don't know, I like Fortus' soli. There's some nice noise in his playing I like, reminds me a bit of industrial music. 36 minutes ago, Tom2112 said: Music is never a competition, aside from shit singing competitions or battle of the bands. You can't take such singing competions serious, music is more than the voice. Singers like Joe Cocker, Udo Lindenberg, Rio Reiser would never have a chance at a singing competition and yet they are great singers in their own way.
