I was talking about this earlier, firstly I could never quite swallow this notion that is often bandied around that player wont play for a manager, it doesnt sit well with me, these guys and bred to win from a young age, I’m not sure its in a players DNA to go out and wilfully lose but if they do its a cunt move on all levels, to themselves, to the fans, to football and not least to the poor cunt they were trying to chase out.

I gotta think almost like it's their only form of protest, since they can't walk away from that kind of salary and they get paid the same whether they win or lose. Other than bonuses of course.

But going out and losing though?  90 mins at a time...the effect it must have on them as players must be horrible.  I mean people struggle, even when they are trying, to get a run of form together, whether as a team or individually as players...the effect it must have on them to wilfully lose I can't imagine, goin' home day after day, getting cunted off in the papers, I dunno how they could do it.  Or perhaps its not like I see it from the outside, perhaps they're sort of seasoned towards winning and losing and it's not such a blow to them.  For someone like Alexis it's like, destroying his career even, thought I don't think he's part of the wilfully under-achieving contingent.  I mean we look at football players and say they make a lot of money but at the same time that earning period is relatively short.  I mean if you're REALLY good it's like a 10 year span, thats not a lot of time overall.

I think partially they got sick of playing in a way that was not enjoyable. Which is rich because you get paid to do what the coach says, and he gets paid to get the best out of the squad. But that relationship became pretty toxic, and certainly irreparable. And they were so inconsistent. How do they get thrashed by Spurs at home and City + Liverpool away, and yet go to Juventus and win? Mou's style was not United. And increasingly it felt like the players were not buying what he was trying to get them to do. Meanwhile Ole comes in and goes "just do what we used to do back in my day" and that clicked immediately.

They aren't. We're hoping they both fuck up and Tottenham gets it.

United supporters have hardly been historically fond of Tottenham either.  Come to that no one really likes Tottenham now I think about it.  I wonder why.  I mean we have a reason but I can't really recall any non-Tottenham supporter saying they like Tottenham.  With Arsenal you often get 'i support 'x' team but I admire your game' or with Liverpool you get 'i admire your history' or their support/atmosphere...even with United there's a certain grudging respect of achievement though rarely for anything else.  Tottenham never get nothing though.

It was mostly meant as a joke since, well, you are an Arsenal dude. But between the three of them I would definitely prefer Tottenham, even if one of my buddies -- for what can only be described as bizarre reasons -- support that team.

I have no concern regarding Tottenham winning the league, they're Tottenham

I'd like Liverpool to win if not Arsenal (which it ain't gonna be anyway), for nostalgic reasons more than anything, when I grew up, in my very formative years, they were THE team.  Plus they play great football on their day and they have great support.  Its lovely to see, their support.  They're having success and their fuckin' fans show up EVERY fuckin' time, whereas a lot of the big clubs experiencing success seem to slightly jaded support.
