  1. There's been a nosedive in quality from WOF to LTD and 4... I'm sure Slash enjoys SMKC and of course the rest of the band enjoys it, but is he as passionate about it as he was 10-12 years ago? Probably not. I can see where these other users are coming from, the last couple albums were stale and they seem to exist just as an excuse for Slash to tour. Killing Floor was such a breath of fresh air, even though it's an old song. It's way more fun than anything on 4. The last minute of Monsters is the most 'classic Slash' moment I've heard in a while. At this point it does seem like once he has 10-12 ideas, he assembles SMKC and they quickly do an album so they can hit the road.
  2. Got Buckethead tickets. Really interested to see what kind of shows he'll be doing with this band he's assembled... Buckethead June 5 Rolling Stones July 5 Slash's Serpent Festival July 8
  3. I only listened to I'm Just Ken once, it's fine but it's not something I'll listen to again intentionally. I don't even know why it's included in this list? I'm replacing it with Monsters lol. 6. The General - What a boring song this ended up being. For a song about such a serious topic, it's ridiculously simple. It doesn't go anywhere, kind of picks up at the end but then abruptly ends. If the term 'leftover' applies to anything they've released, this is it. We know they have better, more 'complete' songs, it really seems like they released this just because the title had become mythical. 5. Absurd - It was shit in 2001 and was even worse in 2021. Still their worst studio song, the only redeeming thing about it is that it's fun live. 4. Hard Skool - An ok rocker with bad production. The demo was much better, though both versions we've heard have their issues... had it been released and performed in 2016 it probably would've been better received. 3. Perhaps - By far the best of the officially released songs, but it's still mediocre. I really liked the demo, but the simplified release and the fact that it never got a 2nd verse really bring it down. 2. Killing Floor - I'm really digging this cover, listened to it probably every day since it was released. Finally heard it on the local classic rock station today too. Even though it's an old song, it's such a refreshing change of pace from SMKC. Brian sounds great in the lower register and Steven's addition's are really nice. Really looking forward to this album and stoked to see this tour in July... 1. Monsters - By far, the best song we've heard since the reunion. It's an actual gem from the vault, a song so good that even the simplified NITL mix is strong. It reminded me of the first time I heard Better, sure the quality isn't the greatest but what a fucking song... I love the vocals (the backing vocals kind of remind me of Sorry, in a good way) and the bridge is insane. The last minute or so is the most tasteful, classic playing I've heard from Slash in a while. Absolutely crazy that they chose not to release this song last year...
  4. Mixing re-recordings and new recordings would sound weird. They should've just released all these re-recorded songs as an EP in 2021, then do live or cover EP's for following tours if they wanted to. But don't worry, only 4.5 more years until we totally get all the CD era songs in a box set. We just need to now believe even more.
  5. Been saying for years, this is one of the reasons a covers record would be cool. Nobody here should still have any expectations that they'll get into a studio and record an actual new album. That's simply delusional when you look at how this band operates. But covers, that Axl doesn't have to write anything for and actually enjoys performing? It could be great. He could absolutely nail some Alice Cooper or Thin Lizzy songs, and of course Wichita or Marseilles... if people want fun, old school music from GNR, I think that's the only realistic option.
  6. I'm so stoked for this album, it's coming out on the same day as Slash's blues record.
  7. It seems like he'll have a band, but it'll be a weird one. Madeline (the singer) is only gonna be doing a few songs with him. Brewer probably on bass again? No mention of a drummer... Juno plays synths/electronic parts, apparently that's the same person as Netlag who appeared on pikes like this
  8. How is Purple Aki these days? Good to see you back here again man.
  9. Got tickets for Slash's Serpent festival, it's a couple days after I'm seeing the Stones. Should be a fun (extended) weekend.
  10. Yea that's fucked. I like most of their songs and the first time I saw them they didn't even have the keyboard player, but I guess they're probably done...
  11. The venue for the Redmond show says $65-70. https://www.marymoorlive.com/tm-event/slash-s-e-r-p-e-n-t-festival/
  12. I don't follow his solo stuff too closely but I missed wherever he said he's doing a UK tour. But with him touring in October and Slash wanting to do SMKC again at the end of the year, I doubt we'll hear anything from GNR this year.
  13. I feel like if there's any GNR songs he could work into a set like this, YATF would be one of them. But I'm almost more interested to see what Snakepit songs he dusts off, if any. This has the potential to be the coolest tour he's done in a long time...
  14. We already knew it would be a quiet year for GNR. SMKC tour, followed by this blues album and tour, and he's said he wants to start another SMKC record at the end of the year. Duff will probably also do some solo shows. I'd guess we're still a year away from another GNR tour, and I'm fine with that. I agree with the first part of your post though, I've been saying for years that the best things Slash could do would be a blues album or another album with guest singers... I'm hyped for this!
  15. No. Always liked the live versions, I'd like to hear Slash play it either with this band or for GNR to bring it back on the next tour.
  16. 12 covers (including songs that weren't on the album, but that he still enjoys playing.) You Ain't The First and/or You're Crazy. 2-3 Snakepit songs (Something About Your Love? Back And Forth Again? Plenty of cool options to choose from, they could rotate a few Snakepit songs...) An instrumental jam or two. I would travel to see that show...
  17. Yea, the Commodore is way better than a venue like the Queen E. Doubt he'd ever play Victoria, but the Royal Theatre would be a sick place to see him... it's about half the size of Queen E but it's a way nicer venue.
  18. I hope they play Vancouver, but I'd travel to Seattle to see Slash playing a set of blues covers in a bar or theatre. The Showbox would be a killer place to see him, holds just under 1200 people. I saw Buckethead there years ago, it's a cool venue.
  19. "To round out his band in the studio and on the road, Slash reunited with two of his bandmates from his BLUES BALL outfit in the '90s, bassist Johnny Griparic and keyboardist Teddy Andreadis, and brought on drummer Michael Jerome and singer/guitarist Tash Neal." Seems like that will also be the touring lineup, with Tash on vocals.
  20. I like it more each time I listen to it, the lead single is rarely the best song on an album but this is a nice cover. This has the potential to be Slash's best album in a couple decades... I'm looking forward to seeing what this Bluz Band lineup plays on tour, hopefully they play near Vancouver.
  21. He could play harmonica on a few songs... It would've been cool to hear him sing something, though.
