  1. 2016 had its fair share of very good to great live performances so I think it could be a quality release, but Gn'R is an older band now, so I wouldn't expect them to ever match the quality of live performances from 10, 20, or 30 years ago. time has finally caught up with Axl as a singer in the last couple of years it seems, but I still want as much music related products from Gn'R as possible.
  2. all interesting questions that I would like to know the answers to as well. I think there was a lot of talent in old Guns and a lot of talent in new Guns with Bucket. my guess is that Bucket was never going to stay in Gn'R anyway. The way I look at it is that for me, as a Gn'R and a Bucket fan, I'm just glad he joined Axl's band and some of his work was released. I also think Slash belongs in Gn'R. some of it is really the question of "what if Axl was less like himself and more like other people?" or more in control maybe. I don't think the music would have been possible anyway if Axl was a well adjusted human being back then. The chaotic nature of this band seems to have fueled a lot of the greatness and that includes all classic band members imo.
  3. if it ain't broke... heh nah, I really enjoy Slash's Perhaps solo, though I prefer the original Robin one.
  4. I get what you're saying here, but my guess is that Axl can take care of himself, I don't know him, and we don't have enough officially released pro shot footage of live Gn'R shows. you're basically saying here that you'd rather sarifice a product you want from a band you are a hardcore fan of just so that the image/reputation of the singer of the band won't be damaged by negative opinions of people you also don't know. Not judging btw, just that I believe the priority should be what are we getting from Gn'R as fans if the only downside is that some people could mock Axl's singing ability/style.
  5. thing is, you don't have to care about a mix or be aware of what's happening mix wise for it to influence how it sounds to you. You give an album to 10 different people to mix and you'll get 10 different versions of the album.
  6. don't know if he was backstage, don't think he was in a Slasher film. I know that Jason plays guitar and has interviewed Slash. They seem very friendly. he also bought 2 custom Slash signature Firebird guitars so he's a big fan. We Discovered What Makes Jason Momoa Nervous... Hanging With Slash (thethings.com)
  7. ring dude is Jason Momoa, actor. The ring clip is not new btw.
  8. I guess it's all relative, but a good mix allows all those important parts of the song to shine and can really transform a song and a shit mix can make a song sound dead, even if it's a great tune. I think that doing a mix is an artistic process as well, and a crucial part of any good record.
  9. Chinese seems like a weird case of a solo project that tried to capture some of the vibe of a band (Gn'R) it makes it more confusing when so many people came and went and it took so long to come out, and then with Axl's tinkering with the material, it feels like he did have more control to shape the music to his liking, how he wanted it to be exactly so again, more like a solo thing. It's just that he didn't have the ability to put it all together by himself so he cherry picked the musicians he thought could be able to get him there, to make his musical vision a reality, or for others to come up with the bricks to build the house. in general, I think it depends on how you define a band as there are so many types of bands with different approach to the music and to decision making, but Chinese was created and sounds in many ways very different to old Gn'R. Axl's influence on it is too much to call it a band imho.
  10. I think that sometimes it's best to make a move than to do nothing and wait for a more ideal time to make it happen. I don't have any idea what Axl thinks about shit he never talked about, but it seems like he wanted the Gn'R catalog to be bigger and he never wanted Slash (and Duff) to quit so maybe he would have tried a different approach with them before it all went to shit, but I don't think it was all on Axl anyway so maybe it wouldn't have helped and also who knows what Axl tried to say and do to get Slash to stay in Gn'R.
  11. I want to read Axl's biography where he also talks about Gn'R also want to hear at least an album's worth of material from Gn'R that I've never heard before
  12. fact is we don't know how many more Gn'R tunes we're going to get eventually and we also don't know that if we do get more tunes, that the material is going to be only old shit.
  13. I think that's lumping too many fans into one group, and from what I can tell, most fans that visit this forum are pretty good at giving an honest critic when it comes to Axl's voice, even with the excitement of being in the venue in person and having a good time.
  14. I think Fernando meant it's even greater compared to Perhaps, so I'm guessig he meant he thinks the song is of a high quality.
  15. don't know if it turned into a different song, but I remember Air being on Dizzy's myspace. I like this tune, very Bowie inspired. Dizzy is a good singer.
  16. Aerosmith....maybe, hard to say right now, but Gn'R is not going away anytime soon is my guess
  17. Axl took what he said in that letter back. I think he didn't get to the bottom of it before blaming it on Bucket. To answer your question: it's possible cause what determines a person's favorite guitar player is not how successful they are or at least it's not supoosed to. there is no "best" and what Bucket did in Gn'R was enough for some people to favor him over Slash based on the music.
  18. so if I'm not mistaken, what you are really saying is that people are entitled to have the wrong opinion that Bucket was the best in Gn'R when, in fact, it's clear as day that Slash is the best in Gn'R cause that's your opinion and most fans agree with you.
  19. I think that when you say that some musician is the best in any context, it's always just your opinion.
  20. so everyone is entitled except the people who are of the opinion that Bucket is the best guitar player Gn'R ever had cause that's too extreme for you to accept? somewhat odd.
  21. are we discussing Bucket's ability as a musician and guitar player or how popular he is? does he need to be at least as popular as Slash for posters to prefer him in Gn'R?
  22. Bucket is capable of coming up with killer riffs, solos, and complete instrumentals in many genres, but if his style of playing is not your thing, then even if his playing is full of emotion, it's possible all you'll hear when listening to Bucket is just pure technical ability, but it's not like he always shreds.
