Not one of their best shows by far. Please take into account that the weather was bad, and this is their first show in almost a year. Axl will get that voice going again during the middle of their tour.

We did get Estranged and it appears it might get added to this tour. Probably their best performance of the night, and that's got count for something right?

The largely mediocre performance on Axl’s part was a result of complacency not ability.

Retirement isn’t a legitimate option for a singer more than capable of delivering classy performances (he hasn’t lost it in a space of a year).

He's too lazy to put in the physical work required to be a top notch live performer at this point. Might as well put whatever energy and vocal ability he still has to good use in the studio.

It was an OK show unrepresentative of 2010’s heights. The YouTube videos portray Axl as struggling throughout (largely on account of his own ill-preparation, inclement weather and an incompetent sound guy).

We can all hope that Far greater, and far less publicized shows will happen on the course of the tour.

Fixed

The weather and sound were, in part, responsible. Axl could have practiced fortnights on end and still gotten hit with such matters (entirely out of his control).

We know Axl drastically improves with the progression of a tour. He approached Rio like Taipei (as merely the beginning rather than a conclusive spectacle).

Weather doesn't make you forget the words, and a faulty ear piece doesn't make you sulk and bitch. Yes, they are problems, but they're surmountable by preparation. Take a look at the Stones' show in India on the 40 Licks tour. They literally played through a monsoon. Mick was a consummate pro, putting on a magnificent show despite conditions that put Rio to shame. Mick didn't pout (any more than his botoxed lips do anyway), Keith didn't sit and whine. They played a set, like the professional behemoth of rock that the Stones are, and that Axl's musicians are. Wish Axl could learn from his old heroes or his own band.

All Axl requires is several warm-up shows in South America to bolster his confidence and consistency (as well as strengthen his ability). He has that.

When you try and repeat the same lyric in November Rain 2 times (wrong both times), there's a problem.

When you're sounding like Mickey Mouse, there's a problem.

None of them have to do with rain or the live feed/youtube.

And since this was broadcast and streamed all over the world, I did "attend" the show. All the more reason he should have gone to rehearsals.

why does he always have to be a let down at every important moment?!?! rio3 mtv rio 4. every time he gets the opportunity to have a great shot of poblicity he shits on it. even if he has a great tour.. people reminds what they mostly see on you tube.

Completely agree with the above point about the Stones and the rain in Bangalore when they performed here. I have seen many amazing performances in Bangalore by Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, COF and even Uriah Heep to name a few. But that Stones concert is rated as the best ever. It started raining cats and dogs and they just kept going and the entire audience had a wild, insane, fun time, and no one who was there will ever say anything bad about the Rolling Stones. This could have been the moment that changed everything for the Gunners - an adoring crowd in a country that worships Axl, a band at the top of it's game, the venue and the event, the publicity - everything. For anyone who's always believed that Axl was an unbending perfectionist who just needed the right circumstances to perform, this missed opportunity is the most painful part of what happened.

I'm trying to sit through this show at the moment and I think it sucks so hard... It's inexcusable to fuck up this bad on a show people have paid for to see! Do your job Axl! Go to rehearsals, it can be fun to just play music you know? And there's nothing wrong with man soon to hit fifty to run on a treadmill now and then. It helps immensely with vocals that are off at the moment.

Wanna be a rockstar? Then do the work to be one and not just cash the checks of the past. Jagger, Tyler and many more do their job, why don't you?

Axl relies a lot on visual monitors for the remembrance of lyrics (that’s a reality, whether you regard it as lazy or pathetic is irrelevant). There was an indisputable issue with these sources of support (and that led directly to Axl often appearing clueless).

A faulty ear piece equated to an angry Axl in Dublin (it’s an essential piece of equipment from his own perspective that constitutes a “technical issue” if absent).

The weather conditions also restricted Axl’s vocal capacity (and initiated, understandably, a strikingly unenthusiastic approach to the concert).

Axl looked completely dazed and out of it during November Rain. Hope he wasn't wacked out on something...

The Beta thing was pretty whack. Axl was an emotional wreck out there.

Even with that, I'd rather see him focus his energy on recording while he still has a good voice in the studio.

He’ll utilize his vocal capability in whatever manner he so wishes.

Only on this board would you get anyone remotely close to defending the abortion that was Axl's performance last night. He was terrible.

Actually this board has been pretty critical. HTGTH, on the other hand, is in full propaganda mode. Apparently last night was the best show ever. :rofl-lol:
