He's definitely a lot smarter than Hogan- probably because he didn't do tons of drugs like Hogan did/does. Hogan's practically retarded at this point- a caricature of a caricature. The Warrior, however, his brain is still intact.

A big part in him remaining "intact" has to be that he just didn't wrestle as much. He never worked himself into the ground and took years off at a time. If he never had a painkiller/uppers/downers/roids problem, then his heart & brain should be fine. He definitely came out of it much better than guys like Jake The Snake, or Dynamite Kid...

As for the eccentric bit, yes his promos were sometimes a bit strange like this one for what shoulda been the greatest tag team of all time, watch the way he says "no sleep, no food":

BTW, anyone else hear a bit of Communication Breakdown in Warrior's music?

Ultimate Warrior is he fuckin' man. He's also a million times smarter than Hogan.

He was a cocaine addict who improvised his lines. Noone liked him because he didn't give a shit about the people who paved the way for him. He almost killed a few wrestlers because he never committed fully to executing his moves correctly. Smarter? The man? No.

At least Hogan described Slash right: a media whore! LOL

ya, i was just going to say that

Hulk is the same way

Takes a whore to know a whore :tongue2:

I don't fucking care. As an American child of the 80's, the theme "Real American" will always kick maximum ass lol.

I was a huge fan back then. Wrestling would not be the same without Hulkamania. But like someone mentioned he should have retired with dignity 20 years ago.

20 years ago might be a little over board. I mean, he won the belt, headlining WM7 in 1991 to universal praise. He was still in his prime and beloved 20 years ago. I could see retiring 15 years ago, but not 20.

Correct about the 15 years.

Also i'm I the only one that didn't give a fuck about Hogan vs Rock?

The ONLY good thing to come out of Hogan's inability to retire gracefully, imo, was that match. Whenever some dipshit tries to argue that Hogan, at his peak, wasn't the "biggest" wrestler of all time, I point to this match. Here is the Rock, in his prime..the face of the entire company...the head honcho....and he's getting flat out booed and heckled. I mean SERIOUSLY? That right there tells you just how big of an impact Hogan had in the business.

Love him or hate him, there's really never been a bigger draw.

Definitely the biggest draw ever.

Hogan got 13% of the gross in every building he worked as champion. Now if you could make 7 grand wrestling Hogan (in one night), how much do you think HE was making?

They toured way more in the 80's/90's WWF wrestling boom than they did under Stone Cold. They wrestled 6 or 7 times a week (they would do matinee shows and evening shows on the same day on Sundays or Saturdays). They had 3 touring groups.

90's and 2000's WWF didn't do nearly that many live shows. WWE doesn't do nearly that much now.

I don't know what happens if you took the dollar amounts without adjusting for inflation, but Hogan was the biggest draw ever.

That's doubly sad why he's doing Rent-A-Center commercials and working for a company that just "drew" 100 people to a live event the other day, and doing indie show appearances in front of 500 people in the boonies.

Seems like Axl's doing pretty well in my book.

Did someone missed The Rock's promo in Toronto?

Them mutha-canuckers were the first turn on The Rock and cheer for Hogan.

Don't talk about professionalism when people are dumping the entire band's dinner out the 2nd story window in a fit, or keeping the band waiting for hours on end to start a show at midnight or 1am repeatedly, rejecting ideas and then asking for them back after something has already been done with them, quitting in the middle of a show because someone has a camera, hiring new people without talking to the band, threatening to beat up band members on the stage in the middle of a show... :rofl-lol:

And don't talk about prostitutes when people are playing private parties for Russian hi-rollers...

And so now you got a problem with Canada? That's not random at all... and BTW Maple Syrup is awesome.

It was only when CD was ready to be released, did Axl finally speak-up against Slash's angry and resentful allegations against him.

And how did Slash respond? He goes to Axl's house at 5am in the morning with Perla drunk! And then he releases his book! What perfect timing! Money making genius! LOL

your timeline is screwed up just a little there...

Hogan the biggest draw ever? Maybe, and the only other name that comes to mind is "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

Not really, I mean Stone Cold's popularity exploded after the match against Bret Hart but it still got nowhere near Hulkamania levels

Stone Cold stomped Hogan in merch sales at the height of his popularity. Hogan probably made more money than Stone Cold though, and probably had higher attendance records, partly due to the fact that Hogan was more kid friendly, whereas Stone Cold was part of the TV-14/TV-M Attitude era, where many parents at the time wouldn't allow their kids to watch WWF programming. I even remember Hogan referring to WWF at that time as "porno wrestling" on an episode of Nitro.

IMO, Hogan's match against The Rock should have been his last. He just refuses to "pass the torch", so to speak. Hulkamania has been dead for awhile, Hogan is living off of Egomania.

In terms of wrestling icon status, Hogan is indeed over Steve Austin. Nobody's had more success in the business in the long-haul as Hulk Hogan. I mean, Hogan's been in the spotlight of wrestling for over 30 years!

Could Steve Austin or anybody else have as much success as Hogan over 30 years? I doubt it. I don't think Steve Austin has the gimmick that can work with *OLD AGE*. I mean, Austin can't realistic be doing his Stone Cold gimmick at Hogan's age now.

Hogan's got his All-American PG gimmick which makes him much easier to market. So the media outside of wrestling and non wrestling companies have no problems working with Hogan.

Steve Austin's gimmick is not so market friendly for obvious reasons.

Hogan was not willing to work or job for Steve Austin. Maybe, there's jealously or competition there. Maybe, Hogan doesn't think Austin is at his level. Maybe, Hogan is sticking it to Austin because Austin made fun of Hogan's red and yellow gimmick in Austin's early days with ECW.

But Hogan had no problems JOBBING for The Rock. He jobbed for The Rock twice!

Hogan obviously thinks The Rock is the best performer in wrestling since him. So Hogan did indeed passed the torch to The Rock at WM. And look what happened, The Rock made Hogan famous and relevant again!

Finally The Rock has come back to Toron ... Toron ... To run his mouth on all your maple syrup sucking mutha-canuckers! LMAO

Hogan was willing to work a match with Austin, even somewhat called him out on an episode of Raw. He just wasn't willing to job to Austin, and Austin wasn't willing to job to Hogan (& I don't blame him). Hogan also fucked Shawn Michaels over. They were supposed to have 2 matches, Hogan winning the 1st, HBK taking the 2nd, but Hogan backed out after the 1st match. That's partly why HBK talked shit about Hogan for awhile after their Summerslam match. Hogan put over The Rock because that is what McMahon paid him to do, that was the whole point of bringing Hogan back to WWE at that time. Hulk prob had no problem jobbing to The Rock partly because he sees them as very similar. Rocky going off to do movies, talkshows, and all that media stuff. Hell Rock even did a movie where he got to wear a ballerina outfit, just like Hogan. Difference is when The Rock was wrestling full time, he put over so many others, and was able to do it without making himself look bad, something I don't think Hogan could have ever pulled off. Yeah, that match made Hogan relevant again, for about a year or 2. Now he's just overstaying his welcome in wrestling. Has TNA's ratings and ppv buys improved since Hogan came in? Nope, not at all. When Mr. Egomaniac came to TNA he was spouting off at the mouth about "The talent goes where I go", insinuating that guys over in WWE would be letting their contracts expire to come to TNA. Has that happened? Nope. Exception: Jeff Hardy, and we see how well that has worked for TNA.

What that match did, was buy him a few more years. This happened not long after, again in Canada (Montreal this time):

The only other time I saw something like that on TV was in that same city when Rocket Richard showed up for the closing of the Montreal Forum...

Canadians are good people.

Hulk: Axl Rose! Brother im on team Slash because he plays with Fergie and Rihanna and he's still in the spotlight...i know you made Chinese Democracy in 1997! all i want to know is WHAT YOU GONNA DO! WHEN HULK HOGAN RUNS WILD ON YOU AXL ROSE!

Axl: Im on The Warrior's team brother! I watched his recent videos about how you failed your marriage, failed your children, TNA fucking sucks, and you and linda used to share sexual partners and generally act like whores, while you harm your own legacy by opening your retarded mouth about things you don't understand.

Axl put on his biker shorts - as wrestling tights - put on his Scottish quilt and letter black jacket, and called up Rowdy Roddy Piper to be his tag team partner! Then they both choked out the Hulkster with the sleeper finisher!

So does anyone happen to know the answer to this all important question:

What exactly did Axl do when Hulkamania ran wild on him?
