SoulMonster
I don't think new members should be restricted from making threads. On the other hand, I do think everyone should be restricted to making no more than a certain amount of threads per day.I agree. People who have a need to create multiple threads in the same day, especially in the news & discussion section, are trolling.
Patience 4 Axl
If the threads involve different topics and are worthy of discussion, why should someone be limited to making a certain amount? I don't post in threads based on the topic starter, I post based on the topic. Doesn't matter to me who started it, as long as it's something I'm interested in.As for new members, what if they want to start a topic on something current? Having to wait a week or a month isn't very welcoming, and promotes a form of censorship imo.
Guest Satanisk_Slakt
Yeah, I basically agree with you, P4A, but at the same time, there has been some cupcake attacks lately where a new member just join and start spamming new threads. Earlier today there was a kid posting 10 threads about how Axl and Hitler had similarities. I thought it was hilarious, but I can see why others wouldn't. He was called Adolf Rose or something too and had a black and white picture of Axl with a Hitler moustache as well. Hahaha, it makes me laugh just thinking back on it. I guess that's what happens when an account name of Adolf Rose is approved. Stuff like this is going to happen occassionally. We've all seen the cupcake threads with penis and porn all over them. Adolf sounds pretty tame by comparison. Considering the size of the forum, it doesn't happen all that often, and I think a lot of the time it's probably some current member who gets bored and does something to amuse themselves. The threads eventually get deleted and all is right with the world again.

We don't manually approve accounts, so names like that will slip through from time to time.Restricting the ability to make threads for a week or so after registration isn't so bad - it would probably cut down on the number of new members getting put off by all the people slamming them for making "newbie" topics on their first day. Estranged Reality
yeah, i've seen that used at other forums and it's definitely a good idea.i'm not sure if it's a possibility with this software but i recall being on a forum once where people had to create a certain number of posts (replies to threads) before they could create their own...this sort of helps weed out the trolls too... (not to mention ensures people look around a bit first and familiarize themselves with the layout of the land and see some of the existing topics to cut down on 'did you guys ever read this?...' type threads where all the responses are people complaining about how the story posted is years old and all the regulars have already read it )
Dazey
These days I'd say the vast majority of topics in Discussion & News do not involve something current, they are mostly either "what if" questions or ancient topics such as the Don't Cry video, the One In A Million controversy, why Buckethead left, etc etc. I'd agree with you there though I have noticed that certain members have been suspiciously quiet in crying about a Buckethead topic being in the current band section when they were pissing their pants over somebody posting a Slash thread a week or so ago. Dazey
hey hey hey!leave bucket outta this! you overstepped the mark :xmassrudolph:Oi convict! I'm totally in favour of no restrictions on discussing members of any era in the main section. I just thought it was quite funny that nothing's been said when that Slash thread from last week turned into a multipage bitch fest.
Patience 4 Axl
There's only been a few times when the forum has been on private, otherwise for the most part it's public and anyone can read and look around to their hearts content. I lurked for at least 6 months before I bothered to even join. Not because I didn't know how to use a forum, but because I couldn't believe I was actually interested in joining a GN'R one. You don't need a masters degree to figure out the layout here, it's pretty self explanatory. I know there are forums where you need a certain amount of posts to use their download section. But I've personally never been on one where you had to wait a certain amount of time to start a topic. I think my very first post here was actually a new thread. it doesn't affect me either way, I suppose it could limit trolling. Not that it seems to be an overwhelming problem to begin with. People here get too bent out of shape about topics being in the wrong section, or about the wrong members, or it's been discussed before, yada yada. Majority of those threads are NOT made by new posters. And yeah, that Bucket thread has been in the main section now for a couple of days. Wheres the forum police now? But seriously, who cares, it's discussion, right?

Guest Satanisk_Slakt
Yeah, I hate Dust N' Bones. It's a crap section. The topics are made because people are interested in discussing it and when it's moved to a section nobody reads it and it wont be discussed. Rustycage
Nostalgia is as much part of the interest in GNR as this new group. If not more. It's getting ridiculous with every single topic that has anything to do with ex members or the original GNR turning into attacks on the OP's for their topics. If it's about ex members' solo efforts or similar then it's not a big deal but when it's Guns n' Roses related it should be in the main section. I'd prefer one busy section as opposed a bunch of quieter ones.

Jakey Styley
Can we start banning people who spam "WRONG SECTION" ad nauseum in every non-Bumblefoot thread in D&N?Yep. This is straight up trolling and derails every thread.
SONOFABITCH
My opinion only: Anything relating to the era of 85-93 should be in the main section. I mean let's be realisitic about where things are headed with the new band...
