Can anyone imagine the Rolling Stones or U2 having their housekeeper as a manager?

Hell no. Team Brazil very well may be what's best for Axl, as to provide the guy with the most stable family environment the guy has ever had, and who knows, maybe that's what's best for him period. I don't know, but I most certainly do not believe Team Brazil is what's best for GNR. How could they be? They have no Expierince within the music industry, they have no contacts, no clue! They are learning on the fly. That's what you do with a band that's just starting out and drawing 100/150 people. Not an established act. What kind of weight can Beta throw around within the music industry?

someone asked me other day about GNR, I explained it's just Axl now, it took 14 years to make the CD and they've basically been touring this whole time and then I said and "Axl's housekeeper is his manager now" and they said "his housekeeper? WTF!!!!" and I couldn't really explain how that happened.

I was thinking about learning about stocks and financial markets from Warren Buffett. But then I realized he delivered papers when he was young. I mean really, what could this paperboy possibly know about finance?

Think about how stupid that argument is. Like really, something a 10-year old kid should be able to realize is nonsense. THAT IS THE ARGUMENT YOU PEOPLE KEEP MAKING ABOUT THE HOUSEKEEPER GARBAGE.

Your argument is the one that is stupid.

Warren Buffett went from that paper route to obtaining a Master's degree in Economics from an Ivy League school that prepared him for his career in finance.

Beta never managed any other bands prior to Axl giving her the GNR job. It was nepotism at its finest, and is something she was woefully unqualified for as she has no prior experience running a band on a smaller scale to build up to a job like GNR.

This! Shows how clouded some fans minds are when it comes to anything negative about Axl. Lollll total ownage.

I have been very critical of GNR lately, so don't try to pull that shit with me. The argument that someone managing some shitty unknown punk band for a couple of years, makes them more qualified to manage a rock band than someone who was Axl Rose's personal assistant and heavily involved in all aspects of his business for 20 years, is absurd.

Axl is GNR, if he doesn't want Publicity, Advertisement and Marketing then being a Manager requires NOTHING but loyalty.

GNR had a successful Tour 2009 to 2010 without a manager.

Axl said in his suit that Azoff failed to promote his 2008 album, Chinese Democracy, and deliberately mishandled concert dates, "forcing Rose into a position where he would have no choice but to reunite with the original members of Guns N' Roses for a reunion tour.

If azoff was fired for trying to put axl in a position for failure so he had no choice but to get back with old band together, what did doc do that got him fired?

also i believe Axl is the current manager. He doesn't get bitched, but because there has to be a manager and for touring purposes and to get them on the pay roll he sorted them out. Obviously he gets them to deal with stuff that Axl is to senior or to important to deal with. However i believe all major changes, directions and decisions of the band are made by Axl.

I don't believe this for a second. Axl hasn't seemed to know what the fuck is going on one way or the other for the best part of 20 years.

Just as one example his comments in interviews where he says the reason he's doing it is cos he got asked? Like no one else asked him or he just doesn't see the offers.

Doc can't be fired because he was not hired officially.

Or here's the topic from other members: 'marlon_brando15' and SunnyDRE

Axl: Hey man, wants to be my manager?

Doc: Ok.

----

Meeting

----

Doc: Where's Azoff?

Axl: He's gone, I fired him for the fifth time.

Doc: Oh, I understand. So nice to be in Gn'R family. By the way, where's Slash and the others ??

Axl: You're fired.

This will probably be put in Attitude but I seriously can't believe how silly it is having Beta and her children as managers... Does Axl really expect them to be able to negotiate with veteran label executives?

Yes, I can imagine both of these established bands to let seasoned personal assistants intimately familiar with the runnings of these band, to help them facilitate and execute their decisions, and yes, I can see them sit in on meetings between the bands and the labels.

Do you know of any other band's that have went this route?

Do you know how long that Beta and her children were Axl's assistants? How long does it take to become "seasoned" assistants?

Do you know what their exact duties were? You make it sound like Beta and her kids were balls deep in the financial and music aspect of Axl's career, which allowed them to become "seasoned" in Axl's business affairs. As you know, assistants do a lot of things. Do you have proof that Beta and her children weren't just assistants for Axl's personal life, doing things that super rich people don't want to do. Like go grocery shopping. Make appointments. Take the car to the shop to get the oil changed. Hire maids and personal chefs. Plan parties. Hire contractors to fix things in the mansion.

Seems like you are implying/assuming that Beta and her children were actually "assistants" to Guns n Roses.

Which all could be true. I have no idea. Can you post your proof of this?

**************

Ali - like I mention above, do any of us know what their roles were as assistants? Do we know that they worked as assistants for GnR and that they weren't just Axl's assistants for his personal life?

I'm also curious why you guys just automatically think that being an assistant for a rock star would somehow make you an awesome manager for a million dollar band. I work with a guy who has been with our company for 10 years and he still is lousy at his job. Why do you guys think that Beta's experience as an assistant gave her the skills and talents to be a great manager, when there continue to be so many epic failures since she took over?

************

Lenny, you are spot on. And I work in a field where all of this is relevant, so I probably have more symphathy than most people do concerning this issue. And nobody can tell anybody else how they "should" feel about something. And Axl has such a woe-is-me and everybody is out to get me and nothing is ever my fault issues, that you can see how his revelations about his step-dad would have such a profound effect on him. But in cases like his, a lot of it is how the victim chooses to deal with it. If it happened to me at 2 years old and I found out like Axl did.........my choice is simple. It was 40 years ago, I don't remember it, and I'm not gonna let it effect my life now. My mom dropped me in the ocean when I was two and I almost died - had to be rescued. I don't remember it happening. But if I'm able to recall the event somehow through therapy, should I now be given a free pass in life because I almost died back then?

I'm not saying that he doesn't have a write to be effected by this. I just think it's silly how his die-hard fans use it as an excuse for everything he does. Heck, they were evening using this as an excuse as to why it was OK for him to phsyically beat up multiple women. Friggin crazy.

***************

Finally, I don't know how anybody can take Beta and her children being the band's management seriously. Or can imagine them having business meeting with professionals from the label and trying to hammer out million dollar deals. It's laughable.

What have they accomplished for the band? A couple tours and Axl going on Jimmy Kimmel? Axl being on baseball cards with Kip Winger and Bobby Brown?

How about the failed releases of live concerts? I believe we are up to two now. Have you guys enjoyed the new music that Axl/GnR has released? How do you like their statements concering the band? BBF should shut up. Complaints complaints complaints. We can't tell you anything.

With that track record, I bet all the major bands are trying to break down Axl's door to get Beta and Fernando to come manage them.

Groghan you must have been either drunk or extremely tired writing this post, the spelling mistakes could however be your keyboard not working to capacity or English isn't your first language so you can be forgiven.

Axl remembers watching his Mum being beaten and was beaten himself & did not understand why his Mum did not protect him. I don't know how long this went on for but his sister backed him up as she was also sexually abused by the father. Their brother hasn't said anything so we don't know if he was abused or not. This would have a profound effect on someone, in fact I watched a documentary on someone who went through the exact same thing & is a suspect in the OJ Simpson murders however he remains just that-a suspect. However he claims to have killed 70 women but certainly killed many. Lots of kids think this goes on in all households & how hard would it be as an abused child to have your father high up in the church with everyone praising him & thinking what a great guy he is? How people handle this in future life varies from person to person and as far as we are aware Axl did not turn out to be a serial killer but obviously had mental problems together with a record of abusing women.

Then he finds out accidently that his father isn't his father at all but his step father. How angry would that make you, then he traced his biological father to find that he had been murdered & had kidnapped him as a baby. Another blow to your mental state.

I agree with you on regression therapy as I've seen on tv that people believed they were molested by their father for years when it didn't happen. Nobody knows if he was, I find it kind of strange that he would have two fathers who abused him like that but the fact is I guess is that he believes it as far as we know. Who could give information on regressive therapy, what type of psychologist would specialise in that area? John Lennon also did it but I think it was also to his detriment & caused more pain & anger than satisfaction so I would say only vulnerable people use it & to me it sounds dangerous.

As far as Beta's duties we don't have a job description but she was an Executive Secretary to someone high up in Qakers so had qualifications in dealing with people, organisational skills etc. She was not a housekeeper in Brazil & likely only did that as a way to get work in the USA. She would have seen a lot & learnt a lot over the years, enough to take on a job to manage the band eventually but you say it has been disastrous. In what way? They have toured a lot (I know it's the same concert for all these years) but they've gone to countries they'd never been to before, she helps fans meet Axl, I don't know if any concerts have been cancelled or Axl hasn't turned up to concerts since she took over but I can't recall any. Yes there were 2 interviews & I'd say the JK one was due to her, don't know about the Eddie one.

Finally yes I can imagine her & Fernando at meetings making negotiations as that was her former job in Brazil & her son has grown up in the music business & obviously learnt a lot from a young age. The other son doesn't sound like he was interested & she didn't seem to understand me when I asked what he did for a living & I couldn't understand her answer. Possibly he handles finances but that's only what I think I picked up so I don't know if it's for the band or not. In those silent years what did the fans have to talk about? They waited so long it seems for CD to be released & were never given an answer, this forum was up & running but it puzzles me how you all stayed around as you itched for new songs & some word on if there was going to be any touring - who was managing the band during that time if they had a manager?

We might not believe in regressive therapy and think it's mental manipulation on vulnerable people but those people seem to believe in what they've been told. Like hypnotherapy it can be dangerous if not done correctly & I'd say Axl didn't investigate who would do this for him but just went to whoever had some control over him. I'd say stay away from it, I've not seen anything positive come from it from those who have done it.

I think McGhee was more of an interim adviser who helped out for a while, and probably discussed a KISS/GNR co-headlining show.

I've honestly never looked much into the business side of many other acts I've liked through the years. So I look at GN'R the same way in that I really don't care too much about who's running the business end of things.

What experience did most managers of now legendary rock acts have? A lot of them had "degrees" in the school of hard knocks.

LOL they expected harvard formation to be GNR manager???

Even Beta has worked as housekeeper in USA she shouldnt be a person with a low education. She has good formation and Axl saw it and built his trust in her along over 20´s. She always helped him in issue contracts She´s not turned GNR mananger yesterday

I don't really get this hating about Beta and co managing GN'R it was obvious that Axl was comfortable with all those Hollywood managers. Now Gn'R world found new people to hate on. Maybe Axl doesn't want to release new album, maybe he is content with tours, I don't really mind my mindset is to enjoy what I have as far as Gn'R is concerned, I've seen them live few times had a blas everytime, I still listen to CD much more often then previous albums and at this point I don't care about new album, if it drops one day I will definitely buy it on the first day but that's it.

But blaming Beta for anything Gn'R related is just plain stupid, Gn'R had different "pro" managers in the past and things were similar so how could it be her fault that Axl operates like he wants ?

Please just drop it.

When you complain about "the housekeeper" managing the band don't forget the Jackson 5 and The Osmonds were managed by their fathers. What qualifications did their fathers' have to manage multi million dollar groups? They didn't manage anyone before yet obviously created successful groups & music.

Probably not the best examples to be used in trying to state your case. Just sayin'.

And why not? Just because they weren't rock n roll artists makes no difference in management does it? Plus in fans on this board's opinion they were managed by a 'parent'

Agreed.

As far as the music industry goes, you could do A LOT worse for managers than GN'R has. At least Axl has a group of people that he trusts taking care of him. Whether or not any of us approve of them isn't really relevant. Axl completely trusts them and that's something that almost nobody in the industry can claim.
