Trent:

“When I started to put this band together for this cycle I thought ‘What if I really stir things up and bring in some people you wouldn’t expect and flip it on its head?’” he reasons. “What I found then was that Robin wasn’t a part of that initial rehearsal. I had really underestimated how valuable what he brings to the table is. It’s excellent musicianship and it’s also spirit. Singing those songs, looking over and not seeing or sensing him there wasn’t right, it was then I realised I’d very much miscalculated this. The second he walked through the door it was like ‘My bad – I fucked up here and it won’t happen again.’”

Just read that. Fucking awesome. Full interview here: http://www.theskinny.co.uk/music/features/307816-came_back_vaunted_interview_with_nine_inch_nails_trent_reznor

I guess that confirms something we all pretty much knew. Robin's place in NIN is secure (assuming he always wants it).

In other news, they're on stage now. No Buckingham like I had hoped. Still the 4 piece. They've played The Becoming and Closer is back.

I love you Robin, come back.

If you truly love him, you would never want him back in Axl's band. He's better in a relevant, professional, respectable and most importantly, functional band.

I hope Robin stays in NIN forever. That's where he belongs and NIN fans love him.

05.06.2014 - Riga, Latvia @ Arena Riga

- Pinion/The Eater of Dreams

1. Copy of A

2. 1,000,000

3. Terrible Lie

4. March of the Pigs

5. Piggy

6. The Frail

7. The Wretched

8. The Becoming

9. Gave Up

10. Closer

11. Find My Way

12. Me, I'm Not

13. Came Back Haunted

14. The Great Destroyer

15. Eraser

16. Wish

17. Burn

18. The Hand That Feeds

19. Head Like a Hole

20. Hurt

Nice to see The Becoming and Eraser back in the setlist.

Here's a nice look at some of the visuals. The Great Destroyer breakdown looks insane.

The pods don't seem to have as much movability and there is only one stealth screen. But I think this will lead to more flexible setlists while still maintaining impressive visuals. Oh, and Robin shaved his head...well most of it.

Edit: Closer looks great

Since this thread is really about NIN's 2014 tour, I'm moving it back to My World where it should stay. I was wrong to move it in the first place.

If someone wants to start a general Robin thread in D&N, or a thread more specific to the tensions (if you could call them that?) between Trent and Axl, that's fine. NIN have more of an audience in here at the end of the day. I don't want to make "unfair" exceptions or weird rules, but I think most people will understand the logic.

I'm glad it's back to My World. Robin is, unfortunately, a footnote on GNR's history and the Trent/Axl thing is in a distant past. It simply doesn't belong in a GNR section.

On topic: Visuals on Eraser are stunning. Must be quite an experience to watch it live. Amazing.

Curious to see Robin's new hairstyle more clearly.

Guest NGOG

Can someone name a song Robin has written outside of GNR? I know he wrote the solo for that Japanese song, but is there anything else at all?

Check out his guitar parts on the latest Gary Numan record (who has always been very supportive of NIN).

If you truly love him

lol

His contribution to Gay Numan's album were so small. I expected to hear some of his trademark wah-wah destruction but there was nothing like it.

His guitar on PASSPO's Next Flight (the japanese girls group) is excelent, song is cool. There's an instrumental version available as well.

I was at Helsinki last night. Thoughts:

The setlist was surprising to say the least. There were exactly 2 Hesitation Marks songs and like half of TDS. Well I'm fine with that, especially considering they played fucking The Becoming.

We had a nice small circle pit going on during Wish  Not something you'd expect at a NIN show but my country is metal as fuck, so.

Only complaint is that the bass frequencies were too loud in the front of the stage, but according to people I know, the mix was awesome from further away.

Mind = blown. Best non-club gig I've experienced!
