Bumblefoot on Eddie trunk podcast

Recommended Posts

New episode dropped this morning. Still have 45 minutes left in the episode that I plan on catching on my drive home. But some pretty crazy stuff. So far he's talked about how fucked up he was on tour after his car crash that caused his back problems. Talks about how he had bladder cancer in December 2013 and a bunch of health issues he's had since his crash.

Recommended to listen. Sorry if posted already, I skimmed and didn't see this mentioned anywhere else yet. Apologies if I missed it.

Any good GNR info./stories?

Not much yet. Still got 45 minutes to listen to after work. He talked about Keeling over in pain on stage in 2012 (forget what city) and said that he was curled up in pain for 3 songs and none of the band stopped to come check him out. He didn't lay blame on anyone for any shows or decisions during that time. He said something along the lines of he only has himself to blame because it was his decision to continue to tour while in such pain. Said Del was great and undertaking to him (made it sound like del was willing to call off tour or do something to help Ron but that's just my interpretation).

And he said at one point during that year he drank a lot and at one point tried giving himself alcohol poisoning.

That's about it so far.

Some interesting revelations, the whole catheter bit :scared: and he talks about his spine injury, having to stop during "Street of Dreams" performance and going backstage for 3 songs to crawl up into a ball, wanting to kill himself from the pain, and performing most of the 2013 gigs in pain (his techie having to remove his guitar cause he couldn't). jeez.

At which show he stopped during Street of dreams?

Probably Philly '12, I remember that was a bad one for him. He spent most of the show off stage.

It is 2015. They make more than adequate pain medications. You wanna talk bladder cancer, ring me up when it is pancreatic. Not impressed...

i can't even... what is this?

For someone to respond like that.. i'm scratching my head thinking, is it a cupcake?, or are you just that rotten?

I have yet to listen to the podcast (but will eventually) but haven't been able to get an answer as to if its the same interview as Eddie's Sirius XM show a few weeks ago. From everything thats been said (silent on GNR, starting the interview right away with his pains, catheter) it sounds like it is just a repeat of when Bumble was on the air, which was about an hour and 15 minute interview. If it isn't, it sounds like it was very similar. Have tried tweeting Eddie Trunk about it but gotten no reply so far. Would ask if anyone here knows, but I feel I was the only one that listened to the Sirius thing.

With the pain being so bad that he can't take his guitar off and had to curl into a ball. Why go on tour. From the sounds of that he was physically incapable of standing upright sometimes. He shouldn't have tried to be a hero and just said he couldn't do it. At worst it would have meant some rescheduled shows and then get in either a temp guitarist or the rest of the band figure out whose gonna cover his parts.

Ron gets to recover properly and the shows go on. Let's be honest no one bought a ticket on the understanding that Ron would have to be there on stage and if they did fuck them give them a refund.

No problem, artists managers manage stuff like this all the time. Admittedly were not talking about proper managers here so they probably didn't have a fucking clue how to handle a situation like this.

Well over here were are talking about a band which is Managed by a Brazilian family and the frontman of this band comes late to the shows and releases an album once in 20 years.

I'm not sure, but Eddie said in the I tee view it was the first time they'd seen each other in a couple years. So it may be. He usually says in the intro if it's a repeat but I skipped his 10 minute rambling at the beginning.

Thinking it may be repeat interview.
