I know.  I hope it goes by fast....the next leg of the tour cant start soon enough!!!

I know what you mean. Just wish they were coming back to Atlanta....been waiting nearly thirty years to see them. Trying to figure out a way to make it happen now that I have a new job maybe I can travel somewhere, maybe St Louis and get my son to go to the concert with me.

I really hope you get to see them - it is beyond whatever you can imagine.  And the St Lois show will definitely be the most interesting of the US leg.

What are we going to do doing this break?? I'll miss all the pictures on Instagram etc

Soooo many people missing out on the show. Man, that sucks. I would be bawlin!

I would be inconsolable. I'm getting my ass there super early in May. Slane Castle is notorious in terms of access at concerts.

Lucky old Ireland, you get them before us again!  Only been waiting five years since the last time Axl bothered to bring his band here, unlike everyone else who got them before Europe with more dates :max:

Yeah I know we are so lucky. But the last time they were here was 1992!!! And I wasn't there because my mom said I was too young. Goddammit!

Great pics, ad usual. Going to miss not having new pics for a couple of months while they are home.

Yeah I'll miss the pics too. Feels like I've been structuring my life around the shows these past few months - logging in to see the latest pics and stories every so often. (Is that sad?!)

Me too, waiting 30 years. You've got to try to make it!! St Louis will be epic. Is that far from you??

Yes but my son lives in Missouri and the show is the day before my birthday....so maybe we can work it out.

Ah, I kinda like that one. Axl looks really handsome and sexy here. I know you all find him sexy all the time and will hate me for saying this. I am one of the few who love him but don't think he's sexy anymore. Anyway, in this foto, he is. :P

You talking about Melaxl? Pretty interesting, isn't it?

And two other observations:

1) WTF are these spots above Slash's nipples? Weird shadows? Hickeys? Infected bug bites? A skin disease? More weird spots also on his stomach in that scene, but I can't see those when he moves around, so it's probably just shadows/bad video quality.

2) Axl making fun of the salt chef guy. Does this mean he actually hung out with the rest of the band/crew at that restaurant? What a miracle.

You know, if they did "fancy" each other (love the way you Brits talk btw), it could be a step in the right direction for Axl.  She's not a model, a stripper, a socialite or an escort so if there is a little something happening it may be because that they have stuff in common.    It's how immature she comes across in her social media that is annoying.

I don't know if  this was discussed in the old thread, but it has to be hard for him to meet someone.   The young ones from the club scene are only going to be interested in him because of the momentary fame/attention she would get from being with Axl Rose and I'm sure if he encounters woman over the 35ish mark, some must automatically discount him because of his history/reputation with  women.   Plus, the  older you get, the harder it is to meet someone to fancy.

I think Axl told her "You are beautiful" in between songs in the second gig in BA

When?

I never heard that, lol

And I don't think neither of them fancy each other or whatever. She doesn't look to me like the kind of woman Axl used to fall in love with.... if he still falls for that kind.

Their relationship looks to me more like that of a father-daughter than anything else.

Not some crucial information or anything, just found this 2012 interview of Ian Astbury (of the Cult) where he talks about their tour with GnR in 1987-88 and confirms what @stella had assumed in the old thread (btw I hope she's okay and will join us again) about how Axl started wearing bandanas.

From her post (quoting from locked threads is not allowed):

Was Guns N’Roses a corrupting influence on the “Electric” tour?
IAN ASTBURY: Actually, the opposite is true. They were the understudies. We’d already been at it for six or seven years. We cut our teeth through post-industrial punk rock Britain, we’d gone through Europe, we’d already been through several United States tours with bands that had junkie tour managers (pulling) revolvers after midnight. On that tour, I was the guy getting chased by the cops.

Are you telling me the Cult was a bad influence on GN’R?!
IAN ASTBURY: I wouldn’t say we were a bad influence, because they were already locked and loaded. They were already bad boys. The difference is, with the Cult, we never bragged about it. The braggadocio of, like, “Hey, I’m a badass …” It wasn’t really in our lexicon, because for me, I didn’t really want to be perceived as just … that was it … that was all I had. That tour was one of the most amazing tours to be a part of.

I have great respect and admiration and love for those guys. We came up through the same time and they went through the roof! “Sweet Child O’ Mine” went through the roof and I think I completely understand Axl’s desire to have been reclusive and perhaps act out the way he’s acted out in the past. I have a lot of empathy for them. You put any young man in a situation where all of a sudden you come from a volatile upbringing and you’re the lowest thing on the totem pole, and then all of a sudden everybody’s putting you out there and going, “Now you’re No.1 and we love you!” You’re, like, “What?” Your head spins too much.

I saw Guns N’ Roses at the Marquee in London in, like, March of ’87 and I said to my manager, “We have to play with this band. They’re amazing.” I just felt such a kinship with them and where they were going. And also our ages, our passions, our interests … they were unabashedly, unabashedly embracing hard rock, glam rock, punk rock. They were right in the same psychic space as we were.

As it evolved, they were the opening act because I picked them and I pushed for them. I had to push for this band! I had to fight for this band! People were telling me, “Are you f**king kidding me?” I’d be doing radio interviews and (the deejays) would say, (in perfect stoner-dude cadence) “Hey, great to have you here. So, what are you listening to?” I’d be, like, “Uh, Guns N’Roses, they’re performing with us.” And they’d be like, “Oh, wow, we don’t play them here.” And I’d be, like, “Why not?” Of course, in hindsight, everyone’s got rose-tinted glasses. There’s been several books … Slash’s book came out and there was a book on Guns N’ Roses where they talk about the Cult and the tour … and I’ve heard things, like, we tried to screw with their sound at one show. Are you kidding? Are you kidding me? I would go out and champion this band at every single opportunity I got. There’s a camaraderie that we’ll have that nobody else will ever experience. My girlfriend at the time straightened Axl Rose’s hair and put one of my bandanas on his head and that became his look. That was my look!

Thanks for that. Really interesting. I also missed Stella's post in the old thread. I wonder though, because I am quite sure I have seen a picure of Izzy and Axl, leaning against a fence or something. Axl looks more like a hippie than anything else and is wearing a bandana. Or am I imagining this?

And what about his hair straightening? His hair is straight, right? Like in old mugshots.

For real now? She is pretty but I cannot see Axl really fancying her.

I was actually looking for it!

The first few seconds before Civil War. Back then I thought he was telling us (the audience) that we were beautiful, but later some people pointed out that it was meant for Melissa (so it kinda broke my heart lol).

I remember now and I thought he meant for the audience but from this video I can't really tell he's saying it to Melissa? Then he says "you're beautiful too, Frank" but it doesn't mean anything.

I'd need a closer video to give a final veredict.
