Axl's house had windows painted black

https://old.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/1m3oob/did_you_ever_grow_up_with_someone_that_is_now/cc5ms46/?context=999

My mom went to high school with Axl Rose (I don't remember his real name) in Lafayette, IN. She described him as very awkward and said he always was very full of himself. She also said that all of the windows where he lived were painted black

Even before I became a huge fan of Guns N'Roses, I knew Axl's real name is William. 🤭😉 Although I have VH1 Pop Up Video to think for that. 😉🤭 On VH1 Pop Up Video they were like,"Axl Rose. Real name William Rose." 🤭😉

And the theme for this post is Sweet Wild Claims O’ Mine, where people have claimed to possibly be or have somehow met Axl’s children! (It’s not like this thread was ever focused on being factual anyway!)

(Since this post is also 4chan themed, “Anon” is short for Anonymous, because on 4chan, most people post anonymously, and sometimes call each other “anons”.

Due to 4chan being a shithole, some words were censored.)

https://desuarchive.org/r9k/thread/16760318/#16772519

My dad was cucked by Axl Rose. In fact, there's a good chance that I'm Axl Rose's illegitimate love child, and my dad was a beta male provider. Axl Rose may be my bio dad

https://desuarchive.org/mu/thread/39810175/#39810990

My mom cheated on my dad with Axl Rose and then got pregnant with me but got back with my dad within the same week so I don't know if I'm Axl's son or not.
Saging because this post is irrelevant.

My dad fucked the fat one at their concert.
My parents met during a three-way with Axl Rose, and my mom got pregnant right after that incident and no one really tested to see who it was, she just assumed it was my dad for some reason but I look more like Axl.

Well, I'm late but maybe someone will see this and probably not believe me. But I'm somewhat friends with Axl Rose's daughter. Shes my buddies ex girlfriend but I still talk to her from time to time. She's one of those secret love children but they still talk. She hates him of course because "he's a dick and I'm still a secret to the world". I'm not even supposed to know this, she told my buddy (who told me) and my SO (my SO never told me she knew till a few weeks ago). I never believed him until I actually saw proof. I also started to regret ever saying "Axl Rose? That Guy Fieri lookin' ass motherfucker" in front of her, not that she would ever care lol.

Never told this story before but since this thread took a nosedive off of the Original Question Cliff.. Fuck it. I had to go to rehab and my counselor was an old recovered alcoholic, aren't they all? Well, besides learning to like cigarettes and black coffee for a few months, I learned a funny story about his step daughter. His wife was a Guns N Roses groupie back in the day, made it into music videos, all that shit. Well he said she got impregnated by the one and only Axl Rose. I called BS then he showed me a picture and I shit you not... A little, pale, girl with long red hair who had a nose that could snort up BP's next oil spill. He was telling the truth no doubt. I'm sure she is one of thousands. I never had a reason to share that with anyone, thanks Reddit.

Cool, cool. I would love to get one someday. Interesting story about a Marshall JCM 800, my guitar teacher/cousin bought two new JCM 800 heads from a guy in the early 80's for dirt cheap. He's a blues guy so he didn't really care for them all that much and decided to sell one of them along with two cabinets. He had a guy that lived over in West Lafayette (Indiana*** here) that was interested in getting them for these two guys named Bill Bailey and his friend Izzy who were trying to start a band. He sold them the amp but found out about two weeks later they trashed it at a show. Damn Axl Rose..

Axl never started a fight in his life when he didn't have security behind him. I saw Slash try to fight in Hollywood, back in the day, but he was usually too drunk to do more than flail around and fall over.

I've met both. Slash is a really decent dude, at least he was back then. Axl has always been a bit of a c**t. It's what makes him Axl.

BTW, when you post shit...don't make it up. It's lame.

Old person reminisces seeings glam GNR

https://desuarchive.org/mu/thread/113319410/#113319975

>>113319674
Old *** here, who was part of the Hollywood scene back then. GnR started out like every other strip band, with the teased hair and makeup. Everyone was doing it. GnR stopped right before they started recording Appetite - they weren't the first ones with the tucked in cowboy boots and bracelets and all that shit, but they were the big deal in town, so everyone aped them, overnight. Someone they were working with probably had them change their look, because A/R did that back then. Poison broke the glam thing nationwide, so they had to stand out from that. (Before poison the Hollywood "costume" was capezio dance shoes, like DLR, skinny black jeans, and white ruffled tuxedo shirts. everyone was wearing that shit until Poison blew up.) Then after GnR left for 2.5 years on tour the "costume" changed to doc martins and plaid.
Before Appetite, GnR were glammed the fuck out, the last show I remember them doing before Appetite was the Street Scene, and Axl was glammed out to the tits.

Smoking with Axl, discussing Brian

https://desuarchive.org/mu/thread/25335645/#25336666

>thread about meeting a celebrity
>OP is about talking to a "celebrity" online and never meeting him
Anyways, I've smoked a cigarette with Axl Rose in my shitty trailer park, a few years ago. Before GNR hit it big, he and the man who would later be my mom's boyfriend shot heroin together, and hung out. Before Ole Bleich was replaced by Duff McKagan, Brian (mom's boyfriend) was actually supposed to play bass for GNR, but he sold his bass for heroin because he didn't actually think they'd go anywhere, and heroin was more important. They kept in touch for the next couple of decades, and Axl stopped by our trailer, but Brian had just started serving a 15 year prison term. So, we all hung out and talked to him. My mom never liked GNR, and although I did at the time (16), I thought it'd be annoying to talk to him about music, because he's probably heard it all before. So, I just asked how he knew Brian, and asked if I could bum a smoke. He was actually a pretty cool guy.

Anon lurks backstage during Use Your Illusion shows

https://desuarchive.org/mu/thread/103707223/#103711810

>>103708442
Not every band member indulges.

For instance, GnR. I was backstage at a couple of their Use Your Illusions shows - Slash and Duff had escorts after the show, provided by management, Axl has never been a groupie dude (he had women, but they weren't groupies), and Izzy just hung out and talked to people. Matt indulged, or tried to, with groupies.
The most hilarious backstage was Poison. Their security dude's #1 job was juggling passes - there were Brett girls, and Rikki girls, and if the wrong girls ended up in the wrong place, Brett and Rikki threw fits. Bobby never really seemed interested, and CC never got laid, ever. CC is the only rockstar I've ever encountered who could not get laid at his own show .

Most bands don't fuck around with randoms, anyway, unless they're really new, or they're just sluts themselves (coughBuckcherrycough). Most bands have a crew of women in each town who show up every tour, and they're known quantities - they won't throw paternity claims around, try to boil a musician's bunny, and will keep their mouths shut and not cause drama in the dressing room or bus. Most randoms are ugly anyway. A really good looking one will get far with a sticky pass, but most of them won't get past the crew bus or VIP holding pens.

The most surprising band for groupies: Tool. A lot of hot goth chicks were running around the night I was in their backstage.

The most notorious: Def Leppard. I'd bet their lawyers are still untangling the paternity claims from their Hysteria tour. From everything I've heard they outdid Van Halen at their height.

Groupies exist. But most of what you think you know about them is fiction. Most of the action you think happens is really not that regular. Some guys rack up big numbers, but if you saw the kinds of women they were nailing, you wouldn't be impressed. And it's most of the time the crew, not the band.

Later in that same thread…

Anon saw Adler with hot women

https://desuarchive.org/mu/thread/103707223/#103713632

No.103713386:

>>103713365
you would think they could just point to chicks in the audience and the managers would set that up for them. its weird at that level to have to pay

No.103713632:

>>103713386
They can, and do. It's not a matter of "they can't". I met Steven Adler the ex GnR drummer after he had left the band at a concert and he had 2 of the hottest women I'd ever seen with him, even though he's a known alcoholic and addict. And my sense of it was that they were into him and not just paid to be there.

Think about it though from a rockstar perspective. You've already had your pick of girls for years after every show. You already know you can pick a girl and have her every night. But when you do, you have to deal with getting her home safely, or angry parents, or her thinking youre in love with her and falling in love with you, or ODing on drugs because shes in party mode, or being a prude or whatever it might be. Lots of issues that come with banging rando groupie girls.

By contrast, a pro girl is likely to handle her shit better, know how to fuck, know how to make it easy when the rockstar is done and wants to be alone, knows how to keep quiet about his weird kinks or drug habits, etc. Logistically it's just easier. It's not that they can't get laid, it's that they actually prefer escorts. Or at least some of them do, apparently

Marilyn Mon-Rose

https://www.datalounge.com/thread/16271725-guns-n-roses-reuniting-for-coachella

Axl was beautiful when he was young, I met him before they made it big. And he seemed very wide-eyed and sweet. You could tell that both men and women would totally fall for him and he certainly used that to his advantage.

by Anonymous    reply 229    February 9, 2017 2:19 PM

R230

Hi, If I told you he seemed like a sweet boy with an angelic way about him would you believe me?

Because that's how I felt about him, he was very slight, gorgeous complexion, shy, and very kind. I met him in Hollywood in one of those old tenements that we all lived in. I can see how women wanted to protect him and coddle him.

And he had that look down pat, the rocker thing, he was poor (we all were) but he was very put together.

I think someone hurt him very, very badly and he didn't cope with it too well.
by Anonymous    reply 231    February 9, 2017 4:23 PM

Axl was likely visiting the drug dealer in the building when I met him however, he really did have an incredible glow about him.

Don'y laugh, and I am not joking here, but Axl glowed like Marilyn Monroe did in her pictures. And it was a feminine aura too, and very luminescent.

I have never seen another man project that, aside from a few well-done drag queens. But Axl had it naturally, maybe it is something bipolars can generate, like a secret energy or something.

I did not pick up on any sexual vibe whatsoever towards men.

Spoilered because this person's claim is not nice for Slash

Spoiler

Datalounger says Axl beat Slash

(same link source as above)

Axl used to beat up Slash (in semi-public). Slash wouldn't fight back and would be cowering saying "stop it Axl, stop it" while Axl went off.

I saw them back in the day - they were the one hair band I was forced to like - but I won't be going now. It was their raunchy hardcore live energy I was drawn to and they will not have it now. They didn't even have it by the end of line then. I'm still sad I didn't see their early show(s)? at The Ritz.

That is all appreciated to read  from these internet folks.

Oh,  ugh slightly off topic , but couldn't resist  ~ In that link you provided  @BucketEgg they included  one of Slash quote which i favour.(of which i have emphasised, because its just too good to me!)

" Everything he says or does has a meaning, theatrical  place in his mind,, in a blown-out-of-proportion kind of way. "     YEAH ! :dance:THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT !

^_^  Again , some one has quoted the Q 91' magazine interview Slash  gave.   I appreciate this part of that  interview.

"But somewhere between all this intensity and this friction there's a chemistry. And if the chemistry's right, like me and Axl are, really tight, then there's something - a spark or, you know, a need, that holds it together. You fight too [...] But that's also what makes it happen. [Tears Before Bedtime?; Q July 1991].

Someone says Izzy is talktative:

It's funny because Izzy gets all quiet in interviews but when I met him he was actually really talkative. He was really generous too, like he was trying to give me slides and stuff when all I asked for was just for him to sign my guitar. Really cool guy and he's very nice. I'm just glad I live near him so I actually got the chance to meet him.

I met him in real life at a cafe in Everet, WA just before he did a concert.. we chatted a bit (me not knowing who he was, even though i was heading to HIS concert) he was funny and genually a cool dude.. noteably no bad smell to him, that i remember.

-I've told this story a million time to friends and family that couldn't belive that i had coffee with Axl and didn't know it. he even said to me "I'll see you at the concert, I'll be in the front!" lol, yah he was in the front alright.I think he knew something was up when i was just chatting with him like any normal person and telling him i'm in town for the Guns and Roses concert and he was like "me too!" and i was like "Really? that's awesome! how many have you been to?" and he just gave me a huge smile and was like "ahh man, pretty much all of them" and i still didn't get the hint. lol, we talked about a few other things, but those were the highlights of him messing with me.

See, I’m so confused about Axl Rose. I’ve heard he’s an asshole on stage but now have two accounts of him being kind offstage.

There’s your account, and then one from a local music store owner, as follows:

The shop owner had some decent stuff, a few off-brand items and a lot of consignments, but it mostly made its money on “cool” stuff. “This guitar was owned by so-and-so” type of shop. The rest of the money and probably the most consistent stream of income was through guitar lessons, since the owner was a session/touring guitarist for a while and really knew his stuff.

On his walls he had lots of photos of him performing live with various bands big and small, him in the studio, him with various rock icons, etc. He said he even did recording for some major bands when “their guys were too drunk or high to play their parts”. One of those photos was of him, Axl, and some probably 12-year-old kid with a Les Paul.

So this background may have been how he ended up with (presumably) one of Slash’s previously-owned guitars or at least the same model, among other unique instruments.

About the picture: apparently there’s this kid who would show up almost every day after school but never bought anything because he didn’t have the money for it, but the shop owner liked him so he’d let him come in and noodle around on some of the cheaper models, let him look through the lesson books, would give him pointers, etc.

Well one fateful day, he’s in there playing, and who walks in but Axl Rose himself. Apparently knew the shop owner, they chatted, Axl comments on the kid playing and says he’s pretty good, the owner says he’s in here all the time, gets better every day, etc. Axl asks the owner if the kid knows any GnR? So the shop owner calls to the kid to play some GnR and he does, and Axl points at the Les Paul on the top shelf and asks what the price is on it, the owner tells him, and Axl says “don’t let the kid leave here without it,” buys the guitar for the kid, kid is dumbfounded, and they take a picture together to commemorate the event.

The end.

Pretty nice I think.

And thanks to apex-twin  at evo, who found this podcast audio of Big Damn Band's encounter with Axl Rose:

Posted 2018

https://pca.st/eh1qwdxz#t=1592

Summary of around 20 minutes of Axl story:

12 years, Feb 24th 2006. Speaker 1's brother's birthday.

At the Roxy, sunset strip LA.

Speakers opening for Derek Trucks.

While playing they could see Axl Rose in the VIP area, with his entourage. Axl with the cornrows, watching the set.

There's someone called Susan with Derek Trucks.

Speakers say Susan and Derek aren't super partyers.

Show is sold out, it went well, Roxy throws a party at the bar above, because of the success.

Axl attends the party upstairs, with Derek's entourage.

Speaker 1 says it was hard to determine how close Axl was with his entourage.

Speaker 1 says he was 24 years at the time. He's from indiana, Axl's from indiana, "He's a hoosier boy", so speaker 1 approaches Axl.

Axl says he likes the Big Damn Band's set, and talks a bit about indiana.

Speaker 1 says, since it's his brother's birthday, he asks if Axl would do a shot with his brother. Axl says "I'd do a shot with your brother".

Axl buys shots of Patrón for himself and speaker-1's brother.

Axl and brother start doing shots.

Suddenly, U2 comes on the radio. Axl says "Ugh, Bono! He's my friend, but he's an asshole!" They ask why. Axl: "Cuz he's always trying to get you to donate money to these charities! That money never goes where it's supposed to go! That's why I never donate any money to charity!"

Someone called Breezy says "And also you hate the sick and the poor".
Speaker  2, quoting Axl: "Yeah! Eff em!"

Speaker 1 says subect of their ages up. Speaker 1 says he looks older than he is.
(All Axl, and other people's "quotes" are recreations by the speakers of the podcast).
Axl, to speaker 1: You're 24!? I can't believe it!
Speaker 1: Yeah man.
Axl: I'm 44!
Breezy: Damn, that's old!

Axl makes a joke, orders a geritol(?) from the bar, and laughs it off.

It's now after 4am. Roxy people say they have to go.

Axl says he just got up. Speaker 1 says he's "wired" at this point.

They go out front. Axl has a Bentley, or what speaker 1 calls, "a 2009 Bentley in 2006". Axl is on the phone.

Axl: Oh yeah? What colour is it?
Axl's Buddy: Man, what's going on?
Axl: My sister had another baby.

Derek comes up to Big Damn Band.

Derek: Hey man, we're going in our tour bus and hang out. I want you to listen to some stuff.

Big Damn Band go in the tour bus, and Derek plays some Bukka White, what speaker 1 calls "one of the greatest blues pickers(?)/players(?) to ever live".

Speaker 1 explains the tour bus layout, two couches facing each other. He's sitting on the left side, what he calls "passenger side". Across from him is Breezy. To her right, is Axl Rose. To speaker 1's right, is Susan. Derek is standing in the aisle, and talking. Speaker 1 and Derek are having a nice time talking.

Axl: Turn this shit off! I wanna play this!

He holds up, at the time, the fabled Chinese Democracy CD.

Axl: Put this on!

Speaker 1 says Axl was trying to get Derek to play on one of the songs in Chinese Democracy. Derek is being very polite to Axl, Speaker 2 says, but not much interest.

Axl: This is Buckethead! But we're going to turn him down, and we're going to put you right here!
Derek: Oh yeah yeah yeah... (Speaker 1, says staring at his feet.)
Speaker 2 says he was trying to come up with a question.
Derek: Who's playing bass, man?
Axl: Oh that's just so and so!

Everyone's staring at their feet while Axl goes on asking, "What do you think of this!?"

Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know. Yeah, it's great...I don't know.
Speaker 1 keeps looking at his feet, scared Axl will ask him something.

Derek Trucks's tour manager comes onto the bus. He's massively drunk, and it's 5am now.

Tour manager, to speaker 1: MAN! They said you're 24!
Speaker 1: Yeah man, I'm 24.
Tour manager: I'm fifty!
Breezy: You're older than Axl Rose!

Tour manager got mad at that.

Axl: Hey, shut up! Everyone listen to this part! This is my tribute to John Lennon!

Speaker 1 continues staring at his feet. They're bewildered as Chinese Democracy keeps playing, because "nothing he played on that CD, sounded anything remotely like anything John Lennon had anything to do with. Maybe Yoko Ono".

Speaker 1 panicks at the prospect of Axl asking them of what they think of "this John Lennon tribute".

Suddenly, Susan starts bawling.
Speaker 2: Susan, what's wrong, are you okay?
Susan: When John Lennon died, my daddy let me stay home from school! And I just said, Daddy, why'd they kill the peace!? Why'd they kill the peace!?

Susan falls over and passes out.

Speaker 1 says to Derek it's been great hanging out, but they got to go. Derek gives a panicked look on the thought of being left alone with Axl Rose.

Big Damn Band ditch Derek.

Speake 1 says they were told the next day, Derek had to hide underneath a car to lose Axl.

Another Axl story they tell:

They were on the bus. A guy from Axl's entourage comes in. Someone asks: How'd you two meet?
Axl: He introduced me to Thorazine. I woke up three days later, and we were best friends.

Speaker 1 says Axl told stories crazy about his family, and how his parents would beat him, wouldn't let him listen to music. Axl saved up money by "doing something", and he bought a tiny radio. He'd stay up all night and listen to music, because he loved it so much. But he wouldn't sleep. He fell out of school, because he slept through his classes, because he was up listening to music the night before.

Speaker 1 say those stories endeared him to Axl, felt sorry for him. Breezy says "Do not feel sorry for Axl Rose!".

After this happened, Big Damn Band didn't tell all the details of this story, since they were early in their career.

But the news found out they were with Axl because they posted that photo of him. They called Speaker 1's brother, and speaker 1 told him not to spill any details. THe only detail to be spilt was that Chinese Democracy was going to be 2 CDs. And then Big Damn Band says they kept getting contacted by people all over the world, trying to get details on Chinese Democracy.

I was in an elevator with Duff last night in Edmonton. I’m staying at the same hotel as the band. He had just arrived from the airport (on his own) two security guys met his SUV and escorted him up the elevator. I wanted to start a conversation but his security guys were talking to him the whole way up. Something about Duff having a bad afternoon but that they were happy he was finally here.

Did Axl possess Duff? Because that would sound like something that would have more happened to AXL and not DUFF. 🤔🤭

I thought this one was interesting. Nothing we haven't heard before, but it's the most recent thing I've seen about what being backstage with Axl is like.

That is interesting, I wonder why he wants all reflective surfaces covered? Or has that always been a thing? Sounds like Axl really likes a set routine

Yes, there have been other people's accounts about this. In fact there's one in the same Reddit thread the two stories a few posts above are from. This comment was in response to the person who said he met Axl before the show and didn't know it was him:

I work at a venue he they performed at. The dude has a serious think about not being noticed and not wanting to see himself. He was probably excited that you didn’t recognize him and probably even more excited that you are there for the music and not to look at him.

With that said he was a complete asshole about a lot of weird shit. Like having mirrors covered up and people not being allowed to look at him.

Thank you! I had no idea, that's honestly really sad. I don't want to speculate but I'm going back and forth on if its a superstition, or if he doesn't like the way he looks.

Maybe he's insecure about how he looks and doesn't want that to interfere before a performance.

That's also my main take away from this. I'm guessing a strict routine and specific environment helps keep him in the right headspace while being on tour for so long

Hmm. If Axl doesn't like looking into mirrors and is insecure about his looks, and doesn't like people gawking at him, that would explain why Axl looks so MISERABLE when he is doing selfies. He usually looks jaded, scared, sad, or pissed. 😳🤬😱🥺😐😬😒🙄 That's the expressions he usually gives when he does selfies. Until VERY recently,(Before reading about him not liking looking into mirrors , is insecure about his looks, or people gawking at him)I thought ,"If he's going to look UPSET in his Selfies, he'd be better off not doing them, because that will make the Fan look bad!" But now I have more understanding and sympathy for him. 💡🤔

I’m going to drop my reddit hoard of people’s encounter stories in chunks.

They’re mostly Axl stories (unfortunately because I wanted more of a variety, as varied as Axl stories already are). I wanted to find people’s encounters/fictions containing the other members, however the other members’ names were hard to search for. (e.g. a sentence might say “I met Duff backstage once”, but searching for only Duff brings up all these other things, or Duff McKagan, might miss that sentence.) Since Axl’s name was easy to search for, I was going to gather as many Axl stories as I could, see which sort of words popped up in those stories frequently (e.g. “backstage”), then do a search for the other members with those words. Unfortunately the search tool went down, so that can’t happen, so now there’s chunks of mostly Axl stories.

In the Fall of 1987 I saw an extraordinarily intoxicated Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin with Guns & Roses at Hammerjacks in Baltimore.

I can't remember the exact year but I saw the Spin Doctors at the 8X10 Club in Baltimore prior to the release of their Pocket Full of Kryptonite album.

Just a random factoid.

I knew Shannon and can vouch that he was a sweet and caring guy. We met while I was working at a liquor store in Lafayette IN, where both he and Axl Rose were from. Shannon’s dad was one of my regulars, and he’d always tell me about his son’s band. I think they were in LA at the time, and hadn’t broke yet. I went with his dad to see them all play at Nick’s when they swung through town, and well, they were amazing to say the least. I feel lucky to have met Shannon and get to know him before they blew up, b/c I can tell you he didn’t change when they got famous—he was still quite childlike and a lot of fun to be around. eventually just kind of lost touch with him as they toured pretty non-stop, so we’d meet up only occasionally. In short, Shannon was a good dude and an amazing performer who just kind of had this electricity surrounding him. side note, I lived with a ton of hardcore Deadheads at that time and there was a pretty strong consensus that Blind Melon might step into the void left by Jerry’s passing, they were a great jam band.

Being from the same hometown (same hometown as Axl Rose & Izzy Stradlin) and his family knew mine…I would randomly see him back and it became a thing where I’d simply say hello and let him know I’d given the last autograph to a friend (while always assuming I’d see him again) and if he’d sign another. He always signed his name and then wrote Blind Melon plus the year it was. I gave the last one I had away to a friend about 3 weeks prior to Shannon’s unfortunate passing. He was such a cool dude. Apparently he was one hell of an athlete in HS…particularly in wrestling. On a side note, I’ve been told by a few people who would know that his 1963 Ford Galaxie that was in the video about itself actually sat in his garage after his passing for 10-12 years in his hometown before being sold to a guy from Chicago around 2003 to 2006.

And he's renting porn too." Then he finishes the transaction, turns around, and they realize he IS Axl Rose.

That's all I knew of Axl Rose but I'm adding your story as another data point now

My band’s old manager also managed Axl Rose and he said that in 30+ years working in the music business, Axl was the biggest asshole he’d ever worked with. But that was in the late 2000s, so maybe he turned asshole later in life.

I used to work in a cinema who contracted a taxi company to drop us home when we worked after midnight. It was always the same driver who for the purposes of this story I'll refer to as Pat.

The cinema is part of an entertainment complex that also has nightclubs, restaurants and a 10,000 seater arena, so he was also contracted to take musicians to their hotels after playing a concert.

Shockingly, he said Axl Rose was a total gent but the biggest asshole was Christina Aguilera.

She apparently freaked when he tried to move the car closer to the kerb as she thought he was about to take off before her bodyguard got in. The bodyguard gets in and she proceeds to suck him off for the entire duration of the journey to the hotel. This is not some limo with a window to give the passenger some privacy either - just a regular car so Pat felt awkward as hell.

This was in 2006 if I remember correctly, I think she was engaged to Jordan Bratman at the time.

TL;DR - Christina Aguilera cheated on her fiancée by sucking off her bodyguard in my friend's cab

He thought he knew better about my uncle's merchandise (which he makes himself) better than he did and called it garbage. My uncle just kicked him out. He didn't need Axl Rose's validation because he was already one of the more successful tailors in Los Angeles.

And a funny somewhat related story: My great-grandfather was also a tailor and one day Mickey Cohen himself came in to strong-arm him into paying protection money. My great-grandfather then beat him with a t-square and chased him out with shears.

Went and saw Guns N Roses in Orlando about two years ago. Went with my best friend whose dad happens to be a touring member of the band. Knowing that I was going to go backstage, I got completely shitfaced so I could make a good impression. Before they get on stage (GnR) they play the opening theme to Dexter as like an intro to their set.

Queue to being backstage after the show. Here I am, in a room with everyone from the current GnR lineup. Everyone is there. A few groupies or whatever (prob just friends.) Everybody is eating pizza. Axl is there in a bathrobe. I am completely fucking shitfaced. Axl is obviously the center of attention. He brings up the Dexter intro and asks everyone what they thought about it. (Apparently they hadn't been using it that much.) Everyone says they liked it.

Now, I don't know why I did this, but I did...

As soon as Axl asked if everybody liked the intro, I said out loud in my drunkenly obnoxious voice "Yeh the Dexter intro was great!? Have you guys seen the last episode of this season? Deb fucking gets KILLED!! DEB IS DEAD!!!"

Right after I said that, everyone in the room got dead quiet and their faces got completely somber. Axl gave me the 'Are you fucking kidding me!?' look. Right then, I said "I'm just kidding around man I haven't seen the new episode. But the intro was awesome!" Everybody kind of chuckled. My friends dad than grabbed me by the shoulder and said into my ear "calm the fuck down." Looking back on it now, I still think its hilarious.

For short: pissed off GnR by being a drunk asshole.

Haven't worked with actors/actresses but I worked as a backstage security guard at a major concert venue. I had the chance to interact with a load of big name bands and music artists. Main job was to check backstage passes and work with the artists/bands on security to coordinate their movement within the concert venue.

The meanest person I have ever encountered was Axl Rose (lead singer from Guns N Roses) when he was on the Chinese Democracy tour. Guy was an absolute prick to all the staff and extremely demanding. Wouldnt go on stage until his demands were met and went on stage one hour late even though he was at the venue with plenty of time to spare. Band was just messing around and didnt give a shit about their fans. He demanded on the tour rider that fans could not be let in with any memorabilia relating to past Guns N Roses members. For example: slash wigs and top hats.

Runner up would have to be Gavin Rossdale. He was accompanying his wife Gwen Stefani on tour. When the show had started and was completly black and i approached him to check his pass. At the time I couldnt recognise him who he was as it was dark. Got my flashlight out and pulled his pass closer to my face to inspect it. He slapped my wrist away and yelled, "Do you know who the fuck you are dealing with!". I apologised and said I was following tour rider and venue security protocol. He stormed off.

Best band I have dealt with was Linkin Park. Those guys were really nice and down to earth. Billy Joel was hilarious and a great guy.

I was about 21 years old, transitioning between living in a big city and moving back to my hometown to finish school, so I was taking the commuter train a lot. One Friday evening I was heading out of the city to stay with friends for the weekend. It being Friday and summer time, the train was pretty full by the time I boarded. The only empty seat I could find was the aisle seat next to a rather scruffy looking man. Though he was sitting I could tell he was a little bit shorter than average. Maybe mid forties, he had on a threadbare plaid, button-down shirt with only the bottom half fastened with modest chest hair on display and a brown well worn baseball cap perched atop longer disheveled hair. He wasn't dirty and didn't smell bad, just a good ole boy. Usually I avoid people and rarely talk unless I've had a few drinks, but my seatmate that particular day was having none of that.

Over the next hour and fifteen minute ride I learned most of his life story the majority of which I have unfortunately forgotten. What I remember is him trying to convince me that he had four nipples, spreading open his shirt, pointing to what could have been moles, quite possibly nipples, next to his obvious nips.

That was entertaining enough as it is. The couple behind us thought so too. But the most memorable part of the ride was the man claiming that he gave Axl Rose the lyrics for Welcome to the Jungle.

His story went something like this: When he was a young man he did time in Wabash Prison in Indiana (I don't remember what he was serving time for but for some reason I want to say it was stealing cars). He had been there a while when this quiet skinny kid entered the prison. This kid kept to himself for the most part, but our hero, being the outgoing guy that he is attempted to make friends. Their first conversation, our man gave him a cigarette and asked skinny kid how he was adjusting. Skinny kid told him how rough things were for him. Our man responds with, "Welcome to the jungle, kid. It will bring you to your knees." Skinny kid says that's a great line and he'd like to use it some day. Guy gives full permission for line to be used and that's that. A few years later guy is out of prison and hears Welcome to the Jungle on the radio complete with his line.

When I doubted his story, my seatmate raised his hand and swore to god that's what happened. Though I know I could do a little bit of research and find out if Axl was even ever in prison and blow the whole story out of the water, I have chosen over the years to remain willfully ignorant. It is one of my favorite memories from years of riding that train and I would like to keep it in the state it is in.

When the train reached my stop, I thanked him for the companionship and stories and never saw him again.

Tl;Dr: Met guy who gave Axl Rose the inspiration for Welcome to the Jungle and saw possible quadruple nipples.

Lafayette, IN...

Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin (Guns N' Roses) are from here. I actually saw Axl twice around town back in the late '80s/early '90s. The first time, he was in front of me at the Taco Bell drive-thru late at night. The second time, he was on an exercise bike right next to me in a cardio room at the Purdue Co-Rec. There was a huge throng of students outside the room's doors, looking through the glass. I couldn't figure out why they were so excited and looking in my direction. I look to the left, and there's Axl, headphones in, pedaling and sweating. Given that he's from here, it's not that big of a deal to see him around, even back in the day when GNR was at the top of their game (and still had all the original members). So I was like, eh, cool, it's Axl, and went on with my own exercising.

Blind Melon lead singer Shannon Hoon was from Dayton, a small town just outside of Lafayette. He's buried in the cemetery there as well.

Hollywood folks from Lafayette include Sydney Pollack, Karen Black, and Tammy Lynn Michaels. Also, one of the most famous clowns ever, Emmett Kelly, is buried here.

She said he was an adorable, sweet, freckle-faced redhead who loved to sit with her at the piano and sing along to the song, "Won't You Come Home, Bill Bailey?" When my brother and I showed her a picture of what he looks like now, she was shocked. Cracked us up.

I saw a GNR concert this year where some guy held up a sign saying that he wanted to propose to his girlfriend. During the solo, Axl said ''Reverend Rose is waiting'' and called up the dude and his girlfriend, and then walked away so the dude could propose to her, and then the girl proceeded to hug Axl. Silly stuff.

My parents both work in entertainment so I've met quite a few celebrities over the years, and I have a few stories from others as well. I'll stick to the most famous of them.

Bruce Willis- my mom worked with him in the 80s and she said he was pretty arrogant and a dick to everyone, until she yelled at him and from that point on he was the nicest guy in the world to her.

Axl Rose- crashed my parent's party and stole my dad's NWA hat. You can see him wearing it in the paradise city music video I believe. Dad said he was weird and kind of kept to himself, only came because his brother was already there.

Jimmy Buffett- my dad used to hang out with him down in New Orleans. Said he was a great guy that just liked to have a good time, and he even let them throw parties at his house when he was on tour.

Mickey Rourke- my mom hated working with him. She said he was the biggest jackass she ever worked with.

Emma Roberts- total sweetheart. I never spoke to her, but everyone on the set seemed to adore her.

Robin Williams- my parents went to dinner with a bunch of friends and he was there. Apparently he was the funniest person they had ever met, but my dad said it was kind of sad to see him, because he had no "off switch" and was always the center of attention.

David Bowie- dad said he was awesome, and when they went somewhere he even got in the back seat of the car because my dad was significantly taller than him. Real genuine dude, just out there.

J. Cole- I hung out with him for a few hours, and he was a real genuine dude. We just drank some beer and talked for a while when we were up in New York and he was recording.

I'm drawing a blank on more random celebrities, and since I don't want to include any of the ones that are family friends, I guess that's it.

My dad and his nephew met Slash and Axl Rose at a truck stop. Axl kicked the bathroom door open and almost hit my cousin with it, and told him to get outta the way. My cousin threw him against the wall and told him to apologize. Meanwhile my dad looked at Slash, just daring him to jump in, but he just grabbed axel and walked out.

Edit2: a word. And name:/

Wow! My highest rated comment! Thanks all of you!

Replier that wanted to retell the softball story:

My dad worked at a very popular radio station back in the early 90's and played softball with Guns 'N' Roses. It was the station against the band for a charitable event. All the band members were awesome is what he said.

Slash was an awesome guy and said he looked like a high schooler in gym glass with a glove in his hand and a coke in the other. Izzy was actually a hell of a ball player and jumped up to make a catch at short my dad hit. Says that still shocks him today. Duff was awesome too but he got pissed when my dad threw him out at second. Matt Sorum was a cool guy. Everyone was awesome....except for Axl.

Douchebag didnt even bother to leave the hotel room.

When someone asked Slash where Axl was, he replied with a shoulder shrug and an eye roll with a "fuck him"

I hope you read this, Axl, you fat fucking shit cake.

You ruined GNR.

Not GnR, but since another story mentioned Axl didn’t like getting looked at, apparently celebrities getting annoyed when people look at them isn’t unique.

If it’s of any consolation, I work in film and I’ve heard countless stories of Rihana being one of the worst people ever. So there’s always that.

I’ve never been on set with her, but every single person I’ve ever known that’s worked on one of her music videos says she shows up anywhere from 2 to 10 hours late. I’ve heard she’s super rude to the crew, doesn’t let people look at her, basically anything you’d assume a douchey celeb to do on set she does, which is not commonplace.

Another person:

It's funny cuz I used to like Lady Gaga but when I worked at her show we weren't allowed to look in her direction or had to cover our eyes when she walked by and it made me not like her

Ironically around the same time I hated Miley Cyrus and when I worked at her show her and her family were the sweetest people you'll ever meet

I used to pass notes to a guy in Algebra class... mostly song lyrics. I'd write a line pass it to him, he'd write a line, back and forth. He was a quiet kid and friends with some other friends of mine who were big into BMX bikes and skateboards. I took a bunch of photos of these guys for my photography class. At graduation he said he was heading to California to ride BMX. He never came to a reunion... he was too busy playing rhythm guitar in Guns N Roses as Izzy Straddlin.

What's funny is that I grew up in Lafayette, too. There isn't a local that lived there in the 80's that doesn't have a story about knowing Izzy, Axl, or Shannon Hoon. Apparently those guys were all over the place.

My personal story is that I was friends with Shannon's cousin, JT. We went over to JT's house to hang out, and Shannon was there, chasing everyone around with scissors. He caught me once and held the scissors to my throat. My brush with a Lafayette celebrity was not an entirely auspicious one...

Guns and roses opening for the cult. I was there to see the cult, less than 500 people. I was right in front and remember 2 things: 1-. Who the fuck is this incredible band 2-. How Axl rose smelled, a very distinctive way white trash smells, I dont know why but poor white people smell like that ( 1987)

You should write a memoir called "I Smelled Axl Rose".

That must've been amazing to see them in a small venue.

Posted in 2016, and my favourite encounter claim, that was also previously posted long ago in women’s thread 2:

similar vein to musicians, not me, but my dad always tells this story.

My parents used to be part of a bowling league in Lafayette (they both went to purdue) and Axel rose used to come in a lot. He was born in Indiana and still living there at the time, I think this was the late 70's or early 80's (so he would have been in his 20's?) and before he was part of guns and roses. My dad said the dude was kind of annoying and always having issues with the police for stupid shit, kind of seen as a deadbeat. Well one time he was at the bowling place and sitting/talking with my dads group for a bit, after he got up he went to the bar and ordered either a bunch of food or drinks and told the bartender my dad had said "it was on him". He bounces without saying bye and later my dad gets the bill with all this shit on it. Every time my dad saw him after that Axl would always have some shit excuse for paying him back, why he did it, and that he would pay him back plus more at another time, it became a running joke, my dad said they would always be like "hey W, I'm increasing the vig if you dont pay, or you can make payments if you need to", always blowing him shit.

I think my dad said something about everyone just calling him "W", as his birth name was William/billy and he didn't start going by "Axl" until in bands".

So anyway fast forward to the late 80's and my parents still bowled from time to time. G&R was getting huge and one night the entire band comes into the bowling alley, I think they were playing in Indy the next day and decided to stop back. Well my dad wanted his fucking money, goes up to them and Axl remembers him, asks how it's going and what not. So my dad kind of jokingly busts his balls for not paying him back, axl flat out denies it, but it was such a half assed "nah bro, that aint me" type of denial.

So the night goes on, everyone wanting autographs, place is packed, everyone's drinking, my dad still blowing axl shit and I guess the band is making fun of Axl at this point too, my dads also still calling him W and Axl was getting pissed, making everyone make fun of Axl even more. So anyway Axl gets up and tells my dad that if he can beat him in a game of bowling he will give him $100 on this supposed tab he left on my dad to pay. I think my dad said he was pretty trashed, and my dad's pretty good at bowling (always in the high 100's), so says sure.

So Axl gets up and gutter balls the first roll, like bad. Next one same thing, said he looked dizzy and basically threw it in the gutter, like didn't even get halfway down the lane. So the band and everyone else around is dying laughing and I guess Axl was getting mad, so he said something like he needs everyone to be quiet so he can concentrate. So one of the other band members does a super sarcastic "shhhh guys, he needs to conectrate" while laughing, so they all get quite and he fucking throws a strike. No worries must be luck, another strike, then another. Axl rose, hammered, proceeded to throw all strikes, one spare and then three strikes to close it out. Ended up almost getting a 250, dad had 230 and lost.

Replier:

My girlfriends uncle was friends with him in high school and he can definitely vouch for this hahaha

Replier:

Late to the party but...I worked at a prison in Indiana and I had multiple inmates tell me about how he was a punk when they saw him in Westville prison. Guess he would start shit with people for no reason, always arrogant, constantly ran up debts he couldn't pay, and got his ass beat multiple times.

Another person in the thread:

my dad said he was a pretty forgettable kind of guy actually, he was drunk a lot and always had issues with the law. Just read up on his Wikipedia and I guess he says what made him leave Indiana was that they threatened to rule him as a constant delinquent or something, so he moved.

Everyone I know who knew him before he was famous us always like "how did that idiot get that big".

Another person:

Yeah, I'm from the Lafayette area and I've heard stories about what a douche he is from people that knew him growing up.

Another person:

As someone who's grown up in Lafayette, most of the parents of my generation have some great stories about Axl being a douche and getting beat up.

Replier:

this is so true, everyone who's like 50+ and lived in lafayette/west lafayette in the 70's/80's seems to have their own Axl being an ass clown story. I'm pretty sure all the police have a story about arresting him too.

Replier:

For a while there was a skateboard park at the levee in West Lafayette. Bill Bailey (Axl) used to skate there when I was a kid. I think he was a teenager. One time there, he split open the tip of his finger with an M-80 (exploded in his hand). He seemed like a nice enough guy, just kind of wild.

Replier:

That's pretty funny cause I live about an hour away from Lafayette and wasn't born till 90' but I've even heard stories of how he was a little shit. Izzy Stradlin is my father's cousin and he would always tell me stories about how Jeff was always a quiet kid but Axl was a little fucker.

Another person:

Had a buddy party with Axl in his (Axl's)room in Vegas, it had a bowling lane in it. Can confirm, saw pics.

Another person:

“seen as a deadbeat”

My good friend's father taught Axel in high school in Lafayette. Basically, described him the same way every time we ask. He might have used the word "dirtball" or something. Nobody that knew him before he was famous seems very impressed.

Of course us....we all loved GnR and couldn't believe he was from Lafayette.

Another person:

I'm originally from Lafayette too, and this is my Axl story. Once Axl hit it big in the 80s, he bought an old Civil-war era house that sat on a few acres on the outskirts of Lafayette, not too far from my parent's house. It wasn't long before he erected a giant brick privacy wall with iron gate around the front. You could tell if Axl was home as there was usually a tour bus parked on the side of the house. Anyway, the cops were always getting called out there as he and his buddies liked to get hammered and shoot their guns out back; problem was his house, though compound-ish, was encroached by numerous suburban neighborhoods from all directions.

Also, this story was relayed to me many times on the bus every time we passed his house in the fall. Supposedly one Halloween, some of the local neighborhood kids mustered the courage to walk the mile or two to his house to Trick or Treat. The story goes that a half-dressed woman answered the door, had no candy to offer the kiddos (as she didn't realize it was Halloween), so she grabbed the closet thing of value that she could find - an acoustic guitar laying next to the door, and presented it to the group.

Another person, talking about Izzy:

Yeah. He used to own a place along [blanked.]

He got really into motorsports after he left the band and built 2 dirt tracks on his property. The tracks are still visible via Google Earth. But just barely.

Edit: country property records still show him as the owner.

Another person:

My uncle was a lawyer and represented him once in AZ. He said he was always pleasant and respectful. He would always jokingly ask me if I wanted him to get G&R to play at our wedding.

I worked security for a Guns N' Roses concert last summer. Got to meet the whole band, both current and some former that were still buddies with the current band.

I was working a 17 hour shift, so I got quite a few good stories out of it:

1) Frank Ferrar. Dude was the coolest. He found out pretty quickly that I was easily startled, so every time he left the dressing area (which I had my back to), he'd grab my shoulders and shake me a little. Woke me up like that a few times. After the concert ended, he formally introduced himself, asked my name, and said thanks for working. Truly a great dude.

2) Slash. Dude showed up about 10 minutes after GnR was scheduled to start with his wife or girlfriend or something. Cool enough dude. I got to watch his wife scratch his back while he purred like a damn cat. He said I looked like I might've been the grandson of a fan of the original band. I told him my brother and I liked GnR and velvet revolver growing up and he thought that was cool.

3) There was one guy. I don't know who he was but I bet he was from the original group. He was maybe 5'3 and didn't wear shoes. He was hammered the whole time, mostly spoke giberish, and was really nice and gave me a handshake every time he passed. No idea who he was, but the rest of the guys were pretty cool towards him.

There was more if there's any interest. Also from that night, I swiped the VIP room sign on my way out and Frank winked at me as he saw me take it. I have it to my dad, who was stoked as hell.

I think he's pretty misunderstood.

My old therapist used to work security for GNR and he said Axl was head-and-shoulders the nicest guy in the band. Very polite, funny and (believe it or not) surprisnly easy to work for, compared to the other guys. He said the only problem was his chronic lateness and he had serious trouble controlling his temper which resulted in him getting into lots of ugly fist fights and seriously messing people up.

Duff mckagan, Slash and even Steven Adler said in their books that Axl was a nice guy at heart, but he suffered from some really awful emotional traumas that resulted in him doing a lot of stupid things that he now regrets. There are plenty of stories out there of him being pretty cool. I wouldn't say he's a malicious person, just not the most well-adjusted.

Axl Rose went to my high school. He was known as William Rose/William Bailey back then. My painting teacher, Mr. Jackson, had him for at least a couple of years in a row; taking painting is considered to be an "easy A" kind of class at my high school and a lot of lazy kids take it assuming they won't have to do anything. Mr. Jackson said that Axl was really arrogant and never wanted to do his homework, and always used to say he was gonna be a rock star and be famous so there was no point in him following the rules. Mr. Jackson is one of the best teachers I've ever had and a tremendously upstanding, kind person and it's really funny whenever you as him about Axl Rose to see him kind of shake his head and wrinkle his nose.

Axl Rose is also my friend Samantha's godfather, but she has never met him. He doesn't come around our hometown anymore, and a lot of people who go to my high school don't even know he went to school there.

I have met a lot but one that I will share is meeting Richard Fortus a member of Guns n Roses. He came into the grocery store I worked at. He just looks like a rock star. He is also very down to earth and personable. For years he would come in and we would talk for a few minutes. We played this game where I never let on that I knew he was in GnR. We just talked about life, our kids, food, and what we were doing.

I saw him at an amusement park once and called out to him and said hello. He sold hello back and used my name. For a few minutes people were trying to figure out who I was.

I only once actually talked to him about him being in the band. GnR played in St. Louis for the first time in decades due to a riot that happened the last time they played. It was a great concert and they played 32 songs without an intermission. I thanked him for the experience. The next time I saw him we resumed our normal every day conversations.

Person retelling the same Fortus story, in 2020:

I almost always did not let on when I met a celebrity. If I met them more than once I might talk about things in general but not single them out as a celebrity.

A friend of a friend was Zachery Levi so for a period of about a year to 18 months I would periodically hang with my friends and he would be there too. Way cool guy.

Richard Fortus shops at a grocery store I used to work at. For a period of a few years we would talk often but never letting on that he was in Guns N Roses. He knew I knew but it was never openly said. He was fun to talk to. I did talk about him being in GNR once after I had gone to their concert. He came in with his wife and I just thanked him for the awesome show. I told his wife about our thing of not talking about his real job.

I have a few others but those are the main ones.

This will probably get buried but fuck it. Back in the late 80's or early 90's my grandparents came to visit my family in Nevada where we had just moved. Back in the day you could smoke inside the mall so while my mom went shopping in one of the stores, her dad decided it was a good time to take a smoke break and stayed outside the shop. When she came out she saw him sharing a cigarette with some long haired, dirty bum in a leather jacket. My grandpa sees her coming and he exchanges goodbyes with the stranger and the guy walks off. First my mom chastises him about sharing cigs with bums but grandpa said he was a nice guy and was a struggling musician so he kinda felt bad for him. She asked what kind of music he played and he said just some little rock and roll band but that he advised him to ditch it and do country because that's where all the money is. When she heard that he he was in rock and roll band something clicked because for some reason this bum looked kind of familiar to her. She asked my grandpa the name of the band and he nonchalantly said something about roses and guns. It was then when she had realized that it was Axl Rose and not just some homeless dude.

TLDR: My grandfather shared a cigarette with Axl Rose in the early 90's and not knowing who he was, proceeded to tell him to drop Rock and Roll to do Country because that's where the money is.
