It was a joke!

Small dog syndrome refers to small dogs such as Chihuahuas often being much more aggressive and louder (and also more difficult, yippy and annoying) than bigger dogs (many of whom tend to be calmer and more laid back), because they need to compensate for their size. I'm sure you know what I mean. If not, google it, there are many articles and websites out there dealing with this topic.

Anyway, the same is often said about small men and it's very true in my experience lol. I've also seen this phenomenon referred to as "Napoleon complex".

(In GNR's case, Axl would be a small hyper aggressive Pomeranian who barks too much, while Duff would be a kind and easy-going Newfoundland or a Great Dane or something :P)

No, I didn't think it was 'decent' either, I was pretty shocked when I first watched that documentary and heard him say these things.

About the band and Tom Zutaut, I don't know. I only know Axl and Zutaut had some kind of falling out a couple of years ago and they haven't talked since, as Zutaut mentions in the new interview. But Zutaut only wishes him well and has nothing but good things to say about Axl and I think Axl would probably react in a friendly way to Zutaut if he happened to run across him. Axl has a habit of reacting much better than one would expect to suddenly meeting his 'enemies'/people he had fallen out with/people he hasn't talked to in years (e.g. Duff, Steven, Gilby, ... he even had a positive encounter with Jon Bon Jovi some time ago iirc ). I don't remember any of the other guys talking about Zutaut recently.

As for Slash and CD, Slash also said some nice things about CD around the time it came out iirc, so I don't think it was just him sucking up to Axl when he said that. To some extent, yeah, obviously, but not only that. What tickles me about this is that Axl also clearly listened to all of Slash's music during the feud years, and he reportedly loved "By the sword". So they still seem to be drawn to each other musically speaking, which is one of the only signs that gives me hope for more GNR music in the future.

I bloody love Bon Jovi.  Grrr....Axl, don't you say a bad word about him!   Bon Jovi was my 'gateway' to hard rock and one of my life regrets is that I never got to see him live in his prime.

Oh, I agree that Slash probably genuinely thought  positive things about CD. I guess I'm referring to an interview where he was tiptoeing around the issue of saying definitively whether he liked it or not - you could tell he was trying to be tactful and fell back on the ol' hey, Axl is a great singer! to avoid being trapped into saying something he shouldn't (he even said himself while giving his answer, that it's become a cliche to say that Axl is a 'great singer'). ^^

Yeah, those two have huge amounts of respect for one another as artists, I think that comes through loud and clear.  As for new music, I dunno...I'm not holding my breath.  I think IF they want to, there are so many logistical complexities to current Guns writing, recording and producing new music that it's going to take a long time. Still, I hope and pray. ^^

Axl certainly suffers from small dog syndrome. Always the same with tiny guys like him.

Anyway, did we ever actually discuss Tom Zutaut's recent interview?

There's some interesting stuff in there. Like this:

This sounds... really made up.

Or at best like Zutaut's interpreting stuff into Axl's words that wasn't there.

Is this another one of Tom Zutaut's WTF stories again? Example nr. 356 or so?

It's shit like this that always makes me doubt everything else he says.

He's either making up stories again or this is another example of Axl being incredibly "sensitive and perceptive" (that's what I'm calling it because I refuse to go with more new age-y terms) - similar to that story about Axl being able to feel "Courtney Love vibes" on other people (and wasn't that one told by Zutaut as well or was it someone else?). And also sort of related to Axl being disturbed by Bucketheads pornography because he didn't want unpure, dirty vibes like that on CD (that one definitely was told by Zutaut too).

So not only can Axl magically tell if other people have been around people/things with bad energy in the past, he can also apparently predict the future. What a special little indigo child he is. No wonder the new age people liked him so much

Lol, so there's at least one person who liked Danny Sugarman's book

And the bolded, wow, that's a weird thing to imagine. Axl as a young solo artist right from the start?

I kind of want to travel into the parallel universe where that happened and see how it turned out.

This story always amuses me when it comes up. Axl locked away in his corner, safe from the chaos and disorder going on in the rest of the house. And overthinking everything. Back when overthinking was still a good thing.

I bet Tom Zutaut has it. He strikes me as the kind of creep who'd keep something like that lol.

The 'fake news' thing, yeah, that sounds like he's re-writing his memories there, but things like Axl being neat and orderly (which is classic control freak behaviour) and putting a padlock on the door I've read before.  Slash and Duff also allude to this.  Slash (in his book) also says he considered himself and Duff as 'gutter rats' and Axl was the' sophisticated' one.

Axl? Tiny? Thin-boned yes, but not tiny, at least from my frog perspective not. You shouldn`t grow so tall :P, that`s all. (Good on being small is that every kilo looks like two also when you loose weight.)

I don`t know what was happening in America, but here in eastern Europe in 1986 we already lived in world of made-up information in media and things. Okay, not so streaming overblown everyday tragedies like now (still far less than in USA), but if they make up reality to too shiny, you are suspicious. Still, painting is an art and you can retrospectively write in almost anything on it. Works like a prophecy.

Some more scientific explanation of some abilities: All across the brain, we all have specific type of neurons which function is to receive information from outside and behave like you personally did that thing although nothing happens - they mirror outside*, so they are called mirroring neurons system (they even have specific wave which precedes conscious processing; defective in autism, for example). One of their function is that with them you basically feel outside on yourself (empathy). Some people have this system more sensitive than others, like some people have better pitch or so (It can be also worked out to some extent - like hunter perceive he is seen by animal from back). It basically works as 6th sense, it`s unspecific, you would describe it as feeling the vibe or so, tricky is that you basically don`t have vocabulary which you could use without sounding esoteric.

(Speaking now from my internal perspective) Problem with this perception, if it`s extraordinary strong, for example starts when there are too many people around, because everyone has different vibe and it ends up as a huge mess - noise - in your head you want to get rid off, to fight or run.

I`ve been walking the streets at night - just tryin` to get it right - it`s hard to see with so many around - you know I don`t like to be stuck in the crowd .

Tolerance of people (over-people-ing threshold) goes low in me with any kind of upset, if I am upset, I will run away and hide until I calm down and can figure out things, I will outburst if I won`t have this option. If I cast out alcohol & drugs, the solution is either roam outside alone or have a private place. I`d say that when Axl disappeared, he was just roaming around avoiding people for days util any of his internal** storms diminished and he could see things clearly (and tolerate people) - and crashed anywhere he could (in LA, nights are basically warm), if he had no particular safe undisturbed place to hide. Crowded living must have been pure hell for him.

Me myself, sometimes I am just tired from too many people around (just one other can be too much) or someone wanting to be with me too much time. I know it now, so I can work with it, but for years I was thinking there was something wrong with me, it`s not common and even less in girls/women - I am like this since I remember - and it`s rare, but normal.

Funny thing is that I have no problem - I actually enjoy - performing. It`s different and vibe is usually not that messy. Fronting his own crowd mus be a high voltage experience! The way Axl works with crowd makes me think that he has this sense really intense (No other (now sober) GNR and actually one other live performing musician I`ve seen did this). Axl mentioned this perception of crowd many times, he`s not gutted rat to do his job onstage however people in crowd react and whatever happens.

With perceiving things different and the way others are usually not aware of, it`s not hard to fall into some new-age BS and start adding some explanation and theories which are not reasonable and are far overblown (it`s kind of religion after all, it avoids critical thinking or offers thoughts for which you cannot get solid proof). I also went through this new-age period in high school, later tamed it with some college critical insight. Everybody needs some insight about how the world goes - and even more if you feel that your world is one huge mess and your dreams and hopes go sour and you can`t see the light at the end.

20604368_1955023551435720_42624122489206

This is how I feel (tee speaking itself included) when I am over-peopled and some other human being wants my attention, my precious piece of energy and there`s no (elegant) way out.

notes: *Like you see someone straighten his hand, they repeat same move as if you did it yourself, but there is information from your skin and bones that you did nothing. It`s the way you learn skills, for example. Mirroring neurons were proven in some areas as the motoric ones, but they are thought to be all across the brain: it`s still complex and unexplored organ.

**at the end, you feel everything inside. Mirroring system is thought to be system in which brain monitors itself and create perception of us and environment - our inner private world of thoughts and feels

Mirroring neurons is still theory, but I find it pretty much working and I like it.

Out of likes!

Bolded: in what way?

Because up to that moment I was mainly listening to male artists and this is the first female band that I gave a try. From there I started listening to lots of female musicians so yeah....

Ok, here's one more copycat Axl that I just remembered :max:

Fucking Ricky Martin in a skirt or kilt

Does it even count as a kilt when it's made out of leather?

Isn't that basically just a leather skirt then?

*clears throat as Celtic person* *though Irish, not Scottish*

I believe it can be described as a kilt if it has pleats and is wraparound style. However you're right that strictly speaking kilts have the tartan design and are made of wool.

This looks like an amazing show. I wish there was a complete video of it (and without the stupid X on the screen :max:)

Axl was experimenting with his looks...

I like the way he wore the kilt here (and in the early days) better than how he did in the UYI era.

Amazing. Really gives a feel for how they moved, looked and sounded in those days. Interesting Axl with ponytail look - he must have decided it wasn't for him and I agree, much sexier hair down. Thank you for posting.

"I have a couple of pictures saved on my computer of Axl's bare ass so I'm not disappointed." @purplestargirl  That what I love about this thread, where else could you say this?!

Off topic, but I've been wondering @money honey, what is the story behind your avatar?

I think it's the muse of Poetry... can't quite remember... I tried to change it recently actually but it doesn't seem to have worked.

I wish Duff would grace us with his naked ass as well. You can bet that would be saved on my computer. :max:

I need to go find the Slash one though....

Ricky Martin is horrible with kilt, he is handsome, but kilt the only one what was great in kilt was just Axl ?

I know, right?  *sigh*  I refuse to believe that no experimenting went on in their early days.  They had to have. ^^

I think a little slap and tickle went on between our boys back in the day. As close as they were, it was bound to happen at least once.

The recent skirt/kilt trend among celebrities probably started when Marc Jacobs, a fashion designer, started appearing in skirts/kilts about 10 years ago (maybe it had something to do with Axl's 90s look - he hasn't referenced it though).

Two local pop singers adopted it too (the first one is very popular, the other is b-class who came from a talent show - they're both shitty )

LOL! What on earth...how did he end up in that situation?  Slash sure had a great body back then.  Naturally lean and toned.  I like Axl's physique back then too, more athletic than Slash's, almost like a dancer's - well, that's what he spent a lot of time doing, I guess.

This one is getting saved on my laptop. And thanks, now I won't have to find it.

I also didn't know we could post these sort of pictures. I've got a couple of pictures that I wouldn't mind sharing of a certain musician. ;)

I also refuse to believe that nothing went on between Duff and other dudes back in the day. That last picture of Slash kissing him and Duff letting him says otherwise.

During a concert Slash and a couple others decided to come out on stage naked with blow-up dolls.  And I agree with you about Axl's body then.

Ah yes, I love this.  It's almost hypnotic, you know?  You just can't stop watching.  They used their 'wasted' time very wisely.  Shoulda been more of those on-stage shenanigans.

Axl in a g-string!  That guy...he certainly liked to challenge acceptable dress code.  Was that from Rock in Rio 91?
