This I Love

Recommended Posts

I always thought Sorry was the most 'classic guns' sounding song on the album. TWAT has a little UYI vibe too but that was moreso in the demos.

Well we are both in the same ballpark...

IMO the most classic gnr sounding songs are:

1. This I love

2. Sorry

3. TWAT

That is how come CD is so amazing.

SOOO many different opinions and thoughts on the exact situations.

Some people think Sorry is the most GnR sounding song.......I think it sounds nothing like classic GnR and think it's the second worst song on the album.

For me, Street of Dreams and IRS sound like they are right off of Illusions.

I personally don't like IRS all that much. I agree that it does sound classic, but I don't think it would make the cut on any classic album. The old stuff just has so much more attitude.

Lyrics in the chorus leave a lot to be desired. Axl's killing it in the verses though. Huge guitars with an insane Bucket solo. I also like the quiet/loud contrast in the song. The whole thing has a Zeppelin kind of a vibe, which I also enjoy.

It sounds classic Guns in some places, but it's still modern imo. It doesn't truly have enough of the classic Gn'R elements to make it an old school sounding Guns song. Street Of Dreams is much closer to capturing that classic Gn'R vibe imo.

I don't understand why TIL gets so much hate. It's a really simple, sweet and beautiful song. It's Axl and a piano which is him at his best.

Music is all about personal preference.

Why care what other people think about a song?

I love the song. Most GnR fans do not. It is pretty cheesy. But again............I like what I like, and couldn't care less what other people think about it.

Why do you reboot so many old threads? How do you even find them?

Because differing opinions is what a discussion forum is all about.

And because there's not much else to talk about. I google "site:mygnrforum.com" and type in what i want to look for and find a fitting thread.

wow its been years since i listened to this\

great song

all that is good on this song belongs to axl

his melody lines are really terrific

the way he sings is also really good

this could be an epic song like estranged

but I am afraid that the song never reaches its full potential

this band of top-skilled professional musicians that axl pays to play with him can`t take this song to where it deserves to go

this is very clear on the arrangements

they are acceptable.

but acceptable arrangements are unacceptable for a song that is as good as this song

the arrangements dont take the song anywhere near to the places where it could go

the guitar solo is also acceptable but it sounds very subpar when put together with axl melody lines.

actually the guitar solo melody is pretty poor when compared to the vocal melody lines

in other words, whoever plays the solo didn`t rise to the occasion

in other words, if I were axl id call izzy and slash and duff to play with me

TIL is a great song.

I can understand the "lame lyrics" arguments ... but, lame lyrics doesn't mean a bad song. This song is full of sentiment and mistic energy, and that's more important than lyrics itself.

It's funny to see that some of those people who complain about TIL's lyrics and doesn't care about the song's inner sentiment, are the same who complain about buckethead playing guitar without sentiment.

Best thing about TIL is DJ's live solo. The song translated much better live (to me) in comparison to the studio version.

omg facepalm worthy opinion

btw TIL solo is the most Slash-ish solo on CD, just sayin'

I heard it was originally recorded in 1997 wonder if slash ever played on it ?

Was originally recorded in 1993 actually so Slash might've had a bit to do with the earliest versions of it.

Axl messing with the piano, that 's all in 93....other vthan that nothing was written at that time, not even the lyrics... Slash has nothing to do with it....
