I may not be fully understanding here. The bottom line is, the Evader mix is made out of Monsters. I don’t care about the intro too much, the body of the song is clearly what we know as Monsters, even though it may be a fusion of both songs to some extent. Hence the mix is not The General (even though it was named that erroneously), but a different song – and in that case the comparison is pointless. That’s the logic I’m coming from. But hey, you do you.

Again, I would understand if you made a thread about comparing the actual recent The General leak with the eventually released version (or the leaked song Monsters with the Evader mix) . But the Evader mix is a mix of a song that we now know is Monsters (or Soul Monster or whatever). So you’re comparing apples and oranges here; it doesn’t make any sense. Forget clipping, it’s literally two different songs. How is it still escaping you? The problem is what we thought was TG was Monsters all along. Evader's version is not "different", it's a different song. Ergo no logic in any comparison of these two. Or "living up to the hype" etc. It was all based on a completely different tune. As simple as that.

It couldn't have, because the hype was, for a large part, connected with the recording/mix, which turned out to be a completely different song. So now it's like did the new 2022 Ghost album live up to the hype surrounding the 2019 Tool album?

I'd just add that if there's an 'Anything Goes' of this era, then it surely is Silk Worms aka Absurd, and not The General. The latter doesn't reach anywhere close Monsters but still is at least a tier above SW.

I believed it would have a digital version, but not because Merchnando said so. He also said "new album in 6 months" and that was about 4 or 5 years ago and he's never even addressed it ever since. Fuck that clown.

The last thing I want them to put on any future album is yet another cover tbh. It would just take up space of a possible new song of their own. It's not like they haven't played enough of them throughout their career.

Yeah but this is like sort of a typical forum stuff. What are this guy’s credentials? He may have been right about something in the past, but where exactly is this coming from? Has he really talked with Slash personally? Where? How do we know it’s true and he’s not just yet another fake insider? He’s not saying anything different that I haven’t said here several times myself – old material, CD material, possibly some new material – ideally. So I’m taking this with a mountain of salt for now.

I think the reasons were several, and one of them was balance. Axl would otherwise have had only 4tus on "his side", basically VR against him again. And yeah, they clearly want to have fun and go easy with any new material, which might be a view Matt wouldn't share. I still would've preferred him.

Why infamous? PS: DSOTM is cool but also overhyped (mainly cause of Money), and they have better albums. The Wall, to name just one. PS 2: Also, I'm a big fan of the post-Waters era and even consider the 2 albums one of the best ones. And I don't give a damn what the majority says. Not that it has anything to do with the topic.
