  1. Axl took what he said in that letter back. I think he didn't get to the bottom of it before blaming it on Bucket. To answer your question: it's possible cause what determines a person's favorite guitar player is not how successful they are or at least it's not supoosed to. there is no "best" and what Bucket did in Gn'R was enough for some people to favor him over Slash based on the music.
  2. so if I'm not mistaken, what you are really saying is that people are entitled to have the wrong opinion that Bucket was the best in Gn'R when, in fact, it's clear as day that Slash is the best in Gn'R cause that's your opinion and most fans agree with you.
  3. I think that when you say that some musician is the best in any context, it's always just your opinion.
  4. so everyone is entitled except the people who are of the opinion that Bucket is the best guitar player Gn'R ever had cause that's too extreme for you to accept? somewhat odd.
  5. are we discussing Bucket's ability as a musician and guitar player or how popular he is? does he need to be at least as popular as Slash for posters to prefer him in Gn'R?
  6. Bucket is capable of coming up with killer riffs, solos, and complete instrumentals in many genres, but if his style of playing is not your thing, then even if his playing is full of emotion, it's possible all you'll hear when listening to Bucket is just pure technical ability, but it's not like he always shreds.
  7. well they do share some musical similarities and influences. The style of playing is not completely different like we're comparing a rock player with a jazz player for example. Bucket can do a lot of shit that Slash is not interested in but a lot of what Bucket does can fall under the hard rock category with melody as its focus.
  8. the style of playing and his image are not for everyone. I don't think his image is supposed to be taken seriously. As for Bucket as a guitar player, he is brilliant, probably one of the best in the world at what he does, like his style or not.
  9. Bucket is a niche guitar player. He can spit out a cool riff in a few seconds and he has a ton of feel to his playing. Every guitar player prefers to play in a different way according to their taste. Bucket is not for everyone and never achieved the level of success Slash was able to enjoy, but it's two different things talent and commercial appeal. I think Bucket stint in Gn'R and his work on Chinese shows he could have found more success if doing his thing in his own way wasn't what he seems to prefer to do. I find that admirable and even Slash couldn't deny how good Bucket is as a guitar player and many other musicians respect him as a guitarist.
  10. I think there are 2 ways that the Chinese era could come to an end: 1. when Axl stops releasing tunes from that era and Gn'R is over 2. if Gn'R ever releases a brand new album with brand new songs
  11. everything? what makes you say that? cause I feel like we're still in the dark when it comes to how much more tunes we'll get from the Chinese sessions. We don't even know how many tunes Slash and Duff worked on exactly, if Axl wants them to rework more or it's something different like saving some Chinese tunes for a hybrid album, or just releasing 4 to 6 Chinese tunes and record a full brand new album or nothing at all after The General, although I think we'll get more, but my point is that no one in the Gn'R camp is talking in detail about what they are planning for the future, if there is a plan.
  12. I felt that they really delivered with Andor. It could have worked as its own thing imo, even outside of the SW universe. It's a little more serious in tone, but we have Mando and other shows for the more classic SW direction.
  13. yes, I believe it was said that he made artistic diva threats kinda like how he did before he completed NR
  14. maybe it wasn't a calculated decision for the rerecorded tunes to sound like material from a specific era of Gn'R or classic Gn'R, could be it's just how they sound like together (Slash and Duff with Axl)
  15. Axl said he wants Gn'R to keep going as long as possible. I would guess that means at least a few more years of touring, probably more than a few if everything more or less stays at the same level ability wise for Axl and even if it doesn't, there are ways to still keep it going and for fans to still want to pay for a ticket imo.
  16. he drops by sometimes, crying about his pal 'Iz' and how current Gn'R sucks, and then he goes away. That seems to be his process.
  17. pretty sure this is how it's done:
  18. we know he was fired due to being a dildo, we just need the specifics. Melissa is a great singer on top of the sub-bass capabilities anyway. It's like he wasn't thankful for winning the lottery imho. Dizzy seems to be for example.
  19. I wonder if Axl would've actually considered firing Frank just to give the spot to Matt, even if his past behavior and attitude were without fault, or to give the spot for any other drummer. my guess is probably not, so maybe Arlett Vereeke is telling the truth, but even if she is, I think there were at least a couple of reasons for Matt not being a part of the reunion. (he was a problematic dick a lot of the time and the drummer spot wasn't available anyway and Axl wasn't going to fire Frank for being a good employee)
  20. Matt was willing to entertain a lot just to be in Gn'R. Like using the same drum fill on UYI in many cases cause that's what Axl wanted. He eventually got fired for running his big mouth. Then he said he talked too much shit about Axl in the press for Axl to want to collaborate with him in a Gn'R context, in any capacity I would think. also it wasn't smooth sailing with Slash and Duff either. I think he's a great drummer. Some find him kinda boring and mechanical, but I think he has a unique sound and style which I like, but all these times he "stood up" to Axl seems to have happened cause he was too boneheaded to understand that Axl was Axl and it wasn't going to help matters a lot if a non original drummer didn't know his place and ran his mouth....and unsurprisingly... it didn't help imo.
  21. Matt was invited to play as a guest drummer with the current lineup live, but he declined cause they didn't want to pay him anything for it. as for the whole "Axl was scared of Matt thing" - not sure if I buy it. It's not Axl alone, he has bodyguards I think.
  22. Axl being emotional that new Guns went live and it was still a fresh experience probably. Not trying to take anything away from Paul, except working very hard.
  23. the proportions in this pic between Slash and Fortus tells a musical truth
  24. the thought that is burned into my brain during most of the day is: "The General is coming, for real" and that's a nice thought to have.
